Advantages: Great Tone!! Great sounding Solo's and Lead work! Disadvantages: None!
...The Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 is little box of pure tone! If your looking for an overdrive pedal that will instantly beef your sound and make you cut through the music when you take a solo then this is for you. All the great players from SRV, Clapton, ZZ Top all own tubesreamers and they are all known for the tone and sound of there guitars. I personally play in a rock/blues band and i have gigged the TS9 all over London, the build quality is good as with most things to do with Ibanez and this thing has taken a few knocks and its still solid and working great!! With the TS9 you can get a light blues overdrive to hard driven rock! Go and buy one!!...
Advantages: Beautiful creamy overdrive, well built Disadvantages: None whatsoever!
...I am using the Tube Screamer with a Gordon Smith SG2 (great guitar) and a 65 watt Marshall JTM60 valve combo amp. With the TS9 on, I'm able to play great sustaining solos, and crunchy riffs, which sound better than they ever did before with only my amps built-in distortion. If you want a lots of distortion, then you can put the drive knob all the way up, but don't forget that the TS9 is an overdrive pedal, and sounds best when the drive knob is put around 1-2 o'clock. This will give a nice raunchy rock sound, excellent for solos. I'd suggest you use it with and AC adaptor, as you never know when batteries are going to fail on you!
If you're after a good pedal to give you some slight overdrive to your clean sound, this will do the trick. This is a great pedal. It doesn't suck tone and the overdriven sound is fantastic. If you need...
Advantages: This is poetry that sings. TS Eliot was a master of the language. Disadvantages: Eliot was often purposely obscure, showing off his education
...Background to this Essay
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK, I'm cheating a little. I wrote this a couple of years ago, and is partly in homage to my father. My father was both a poetry reader and a writer. One of his favourite poets was TS Eliot. I wrote this after my dad died for the university degree I recently finished, and hope I did him proud. This is dedicated to him.
I wasn't sure whether to put this in as a book/poem review - but then I found this essay category, so thought that here would be the best place.
Darkness and Despair - Preludes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If one can judge a man by his poetry, TS Eliot was a man obsessed with desolation, decay and despair(1). Many of his works had themes of hopelessness and aridity, culminating in The Waste Land. His poetry...

...Like most people I try to eat as healthily as possible and like to make sure my family get optimum nutrition. It is a well-known fact that many vitamins and minerals are lost through the cooking process, especially vitamin c. With this in mind I decided to buy a steamer. Steaming food especially vegetables ensures that you get to eat food that has retained most of its vitamin content.
Having decided to buy a steamer I then set about to do a bit of research. There are lots of models on the market and you could pay around £70 for a well-known brand. I read a review about the Tesco value steamer (model 3ts04) and was impressed. I was also surprised by the low price tag of just £9.97. I decided to take a trip to my local Tesco to have a closer look. I compared the Tesco steamer with the more expensive Tefal, also on display, and although...

Review of Tesco 3TS04
...What could I do to beat the previous three opinions in the series for the alphabet, well not much really, the same format applies but this time it will be proper advice. The dos and don’ts from my perspective.
So the dos then:
Do have a healthy life style – Eat healthily and drink healthily, work in a healthy environment and so on, I’m sure I don’t need to remind of you off these. Although the amount of opinions I see flying around Ciao on things like beer, sweets and other unhealthy products shows me the opposite of this however, come on guys be healthy and get out of the house (well if you can get away from Ciao that is).
Do enjoy life – I’m not going to tell you how to enjoy life as that is just another opinion altogether and we get our kicks from different things anyway so it is purely...
Advantages: It's something unique about you; when embraced, it doesn't need to be a problem Disadvantages: Can cause embarrassment; lack of information; general public has a stereotypical view
.... At this point, I was taken to see a child psychologist.
I remember trying to explain to him how it felt when I ticced; how it felt if I tried to suppress it; how upsetting it was that I couldn't stop for my parents' sake. After listening to what I had to say, and my Mum's descriptions of my tics and behaviour, the doctor delivered his diagnosis - Tourette's Syndrome (TS). Now bear in mind that I was thirteen at the time, which means this would have been in 1995, so those words meant absolutely nothing to either of us. Unlike nowadays, when most people have at least some (generally erroneous) idea of what TS is and what it involves, we had never even heard of it or its effects. Still, as my mum said as we left the office, 'At least we know there's something wrong with you now - you're not just being a pain on purpose' (gotta love that...
Advantages: excellent position in Polls Disadvantages: it's a load of politics

David Cameron - Do's and Don'ts

'CAMERA-ON CAMERON'
The political adventure playground is looking decidedly easy for Cameron as for once lack of Conservative political policy is not on the agenda for media scrutiny. All Cameron has to do is look in the camera and show poise and confidence, no policy talking is required. Team GB, on the other hand is a 'car crash' - Economically, Socially, and in my opinion they have given-up governing. Cameron having been in PR, knows the pitfalls at even being too good at demolishing Labour at the moment, which a 5 year old could do without much trouble at the moment. It's time for Team Cameron to keep the over excessive smiles to themselves. It is a position the Conservatives have not been in.. there-fore some deliberate policies is...
Advantages: The book that the musical 'Cats' was based upon. Disadvantages: None.
...Persian and Siamese cats because it was a Persian who took his ear. This is quite a funny poem with good use of the nonsense verse here. I can't write about every single poem but I will pick out a few of my favourites and let you make your own mind up about T.S Eliots 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats'.
I love this one I think it is the sense of the ridiculous that captures my imagination here. 'Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer' were a pair of infamous cat burglars, who stole pearl necklaces, trinkets and valuables. They had a particular talent for the 'Smash and Grab'; they were trained 'tightrope walkers and acrobats, quick change comedians and knockabout clowns' and they also had the 'Gift of the gab'. Conning their way into homes they would somersault, backflip, climb and whiz their way through the house like a whirlwind, pocketing...
