Advantages: Cheap introductory offer saving you lots of money Disadvantages: They wont let me leave, help me please
...Back in October 2001, whilst trawling through another days useless emails. I stumbled across one that caught my eye ?3 books for £3!? it said (Postage & Packaging EXTRA in very small, small print!) Now, I have never been much of a reader and mostly buy books to prop up wonky furniture. But this seemed like a bargain not to be missed. For only a few pounds my furniture would be level for years! So, curiosity aroused, I clicked on the provided link and was presented with the TSP website. Having had trouble with these types of club before, I was very wary of the terms and conditions. But to my amazement, not only could I purchase these items at bargain prices, but also I did not have to buy anything off them again? EVER! This is unusual, as most book/video clubs require a certain amount of items to be purchased over a certain period of time...

Review of TSP
Advantages: 3 books for £3 Disadvantages: Editors choice, P + P
...I joined TSP (The Softback Preview) back in the beginning of last year. I was quite shocked when I saw the deal. It was three books for £3! (no mention of the postage and packaging which is extra) That is something that is rare and very unusual these days, such a money saving offer. I then looked at the commitment side of the club and there was no commitment, I was truly shocked, because book clubs always offer these excellent offers and then catch you out by getting you to buy 4 or 5 books in the first year. Which in the end means you have paid back for the books you got ‘free’ in the first place. When you buy the books you do have to pay for postage and packaging that makes the books a bit more expensive, but there is still a considerable saving.
I found this offer through www.mypoints.co.uk (a site where you collect...

Review of TSP
Advantages: Three books for £3.00 wow what a great deal Disadvantages: Received unwanted book.
...I kept seeing TSP being advertised, and thought what a great deal a choice of 3 books for £3.00. The choice is of books is a bit limited, but I managed to find 3 books. The AA map, King of Torts and Th Motleyfool guide. So I have got my moneys worth. Also there is no commitment to buy. You can cancel after 6 months. Each month they send you a letter with a recommended book and you can either post, phone or use their web site. So I choose to use the web site and cancel my recomended book. Although I done this I still received the book and it would cost me money to return the book as they said I had not cancelled the book. After quite a few calls and emails, they agreed for me to return the book free of charge and suggested that if I wanted to cancel future recommended books that I should call instead. I have since cancelled my membership...

Review of TSP
Advantages: Good books, low costs, no commitment Disadvantages: None
...I received a message from Mypoints in my mailbox the other day telling me that I would receive 10 points if I visited the TSP site and a further 500 points if I took advantage of their introductory offer and purchased 3 books.
TSP stands for The Softback Preview and I have made purchases from this company in the past so I know that they are good value. In fact I would go as far as to say that they are the best book club I have ever used.
Basically the offer is this –
You buy 3 paperback books from their extensive list, which nearly all cost just £1 each, although there are also a few which cost £2 each.
The paperback books are exactly the same as the hardback editions except for the fact that they are paperback!
The total cost of these books will be £3 (or whatever) plus £2.99 postage costs and that is the end...

Review of TSP
Advantages: No commitment to buy, no payment until receipt.. Disadvantages: They make mistakes at times.
...I have been a member of TSP (also known as The Softback Preview) for several years now. I joined sometime back in the mid 90s on an offer of 5 books for a £1 each with no further commitment ever.
Although I've a few problems with TSP, they were soon sorted out.
Before I was on the internet all transactions were done through snail-mail and once or twice, I was sent the editors choice even though I had returned my letter rejecting it. After a quick phone call though, this was sorted out. They sent me a pre-paid posting label to return the unwanted book. Now I have registered my account on line, that problem no longer arises. Whenever I get their catalogue (which comes about once a month), I simply log into my account and reject the editor's choice on the site, if I do not want it. Sometimes, I order another book if I fancy it...

Review of TSP
Advantages: get cheap books on your first order Disadvantages: nothing different from any other club
...E-TSP is a book club based on the internet. I originally joined e-TSP because they have a great sign up offer. When I joined I got three books for 1p, which is a bargain!! I did have some reservations when signing up after hearing stories from people about mail order book clubs in general. I had heard nightmare stores about people having books turn up on their doorstep every month that they didn’t want and then having to pay to send them back.
So far (touch wood) I have had no problems like this at all. Every month you are sent a small brochure and usually an extra bit with the bestsellers of the month. You can either send back the slip to say that you don’t want the book of the month or you can log on to their internet site and refuse the book of the month on there. They will always send you an e-mail if you do...

Review of TSP
Advantages: Books are good value. Great introductory offers Disadvantages: Incompetent staff. Charged me for books I never ordered.
...What does TSP stand for? Well it can stand for Terrible and Shoddy Products or These Stupid People and a few others that I could think of which is unprintable here! Why do I hate them so much? Well, because they are run by a bunch of complete and utter morons who are out there to rip you off.
As with a lot of clubs of this type you join by purchasing some of their products at a knockdown price and I purchased 3 books and paid £6.99 for them which was a substantial saving over there RRP. However, I never received the free gift that was promised to me but never mind about that, I couldn't be bothered to argue with incompetent people.
I knew my obligations as a member and that is to remember to cancel their recommended book of the month. This is a pain in the backside but I thought it was worth it by taking advantage...

Review of TSP
Advantages: No commitment Disadvantages: If you do not notify that you do not want the Editor's Choice it can be a headache
...TSP is a book club that has something slightly different comparing to others. You do not have the commitment that you would have when subscribing to any other book club. What commitment is it? Normally when you want to be a member of a certain book club you have to buy during the period of a year five books and afterwards you just order your books as you please.
When you become a TSP member you do not need to order the five books a year, there is no obligation in buying any book or whatsoever AFTER you become a member and order your introductory offer, but YES there are some “BUTs” here.
The introductory offer is what makes you do pay attention for such a good bargain. What bargain? From a selected range of books you can pick any 3 books for £1 pound each with no commitment BUT don’t forget to add to the price...

Review of TSP
Advantages: Cheaper books Disadvantages: Under an obligation each month to contact them, statements are misleading, terms do not make sense.
...Well obviously we all keep our eyes open for the best offers available to us, no matter what we are seeking. I know I am sometimes drawn to banners on websites advertising wonderful offers - sometimes I can't resist and I go have a look. More often than not there is always a catch to the offer...you have to become a member and have to buy a certain amount of products from them, or something similar.
Well one day I came across the TSP site - www.etsp.co.uk - and their wonderful sounding offer of 'Buy three books for £1 each (excl. P&P) with NO COMMITMENT' caught my attention. Having a look through the choice of books I found it very easy to pick three. Having studied law I am always careful of joining clubs such as this that are forever including binding terms into their small print. I always make sure to read everything during...

Review of TSP
Advantages: Good introductory deal Disadvantages: Bad customer service means it?s simply not worth the effort
....
On the subject of the club working under normal circumstances (i.e. not with an introductory offer) they do offer a fair range of books, but the prices are nothing special, and delivery is usually fairly expensive (similar to the above, if not more). If they offered free delivery then I really do think that more people would buy their stock ? I don?t know about you but I?m always put off of a company if they charge anything at all for delivery, I think it should all be included.
If you?re after books, head to amazon, where they will generally be cheaper, and if you combine your purchase with enough to bring the value of your over £25, delivery is free.
A friend of mine was also a member of TSP under the same introductory offer, and his three books arrived, on time, as ordered. Unfortunately, I wasn?t quite as lucky with mine.
Two of my...
