David Tua, Hard hitting
Review of David Tua by
iamasadlittleboy
Advantages: Hits hard, brilliant chin
Disadvantages: Pretty unskilled
...David Tua, arguably one of the best current boxers never to have held a "proper" world title (WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO) and most certainly one of the most entertaining of the current crop of heavyweights (not saying
much I admit).
-*-Early days-*-
Born Mafaufau Tavita Lio Mafaufau Sanerivi Talimatasi (according to wikipedia anyway) the man we know as David Tua was born in Samoa to a man and a woman (who'se names I do not know). At an early age he moved to New Zealand and thats where he picked up boxing.
-*-Amateur days-*-
As an amateur Tua quickly rose through the national ranks becoming a champion in 1988 (at a juniour level I think) in the heavyweight category. 4 Years later he proved he was pretty good as a "man" (as opposed to a huge 15 year old "boy") winning a bronze medal in the 1992 Olympics fighting at the -91 KG category...

DONT MAKE ME LAUGH
Review of Mike Tyson by
Jester247
Advantages: Still quite capable
Disadvantages: Running scared
...So, 'Iron' Mike thinks that he can beat Lennox Lewis and win back the heavyweight title does he? Don't make me laugh! Tyson has ben running scared of Lewis for the last year, fighting and crushing mediocre boxers to try and prove a point to him. Lewis has done no such thing, fighting boxers of high quality that could actually threaten a fly, such as Tua. The way in which Lennox has disposed of boxers such as Tua has proved that he is deservedly in the number one heavyweight position.
Mikes trainers and coaches claim that Tyson needs more time before fighting Lewis and taking the heavyweight title away from him. In my view, Mike is stalling and he is no intention of fighting Lewis anytime soon for one simple reason: He knows that a boxer such as Lewis would simply destroy him. Tyson is not the boxer he once was and all his threats...

A real deal of a real warrior
Review of Evander Hollyfield by
iamasadlittleboy
Advantages: In his prime he was magnificant
Disadvantages: Should have retired 7 or so years ago
..., which was actually a lot closer than the first, and a lot closer than the scores show, though Lewis stripped Holyfield of his titles by a UD win.
Champion V (Heavyweight IV):
Lewis faced Tua after the second Holyfield fight, a fight that many fans of the sport supported, but the WBA disliked Lewis decision and so stripped him of their title (Tua had beaten Ruiz not long before). With the Vacant WBA title up for grabs Evander and John "The Quiet man" Ruiz faced off. Holyfield trying to become the first ever 4 time-world-heavyweight-champion, a feat he succseeded in with a close points win against the negative Ruiz.
Many said that Evander was as good as done, and should retire on top, but instead he faced Ruiz twice more, losing one and drawing the final one.
The Chase for another title I:
Next came former Lewis beater Hasim Rahman...

Bring on the best
Review of Lennox Lewis by
sam123
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Lennox Lewis in my view is an excellent fighter in my view but in some people’s view his ultimate test will be against Mike Tyson, and if he comes through that then he will be recognised more. His overwhelming victory over David Tua last year confirmed his status as the best Heavyweight.
Their seems to be problems with a Mike Tyson fight as the deals seems off. That for me will be his ultimate test, I don’t think that there are as good heavyweights as their were say in the day of Ali when he had so many good boxers to beat, who dares forget the Ali V Frazer fights.
I think we should be proud of Lennox Lewis as he is British and it has been a long time since we have had a heavy weight champion that has kept hold of it and defended his title so well.
HE looked at ease on his last fight my only query being why he didn...

Review of A Canticle for Leibowitz - Walter Miller by
frkurt
Advantages: Great story, great concept
Disadvantages: none
...the Leibowitz document to New Rome and aiding the order in its quest for sainthood for Leibowitz.
--Fiat Lux--
In the second frame of the triptych, we come upon a political situation several hundred years later, much like the middle ages (Hannegan II under papal interdict while claiming title as Defender of the Faith) -- yet there are new discoveries both among philosopher/scientists of the present and researchers looking back into the past. There is to be to the order a visit from Thon Taddeo, a noted scholar and poet, and politically important person, and the monastery is concerned in many ways to make a good showing. Brother Kornhoer, figuring out texts on ancient electricity, contrived an electric light to the amazement and consternation of Thon Taddeo.
The poet, too, ends up dying on a journey, out in the desert.

The Flowers of Evil and the Infinite Music
Review of The Flowers of Evil - Charles Baudelaire by
Mr_Farlock
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
L'innamorato palpitante...

His middle name is Claudius...poor guy
Review of Lennox Lewis by
iamasadlittleboy
Advantages: Power, size, he's british >_>
Disadvantages: Lost fights he should have won
...David Tua, Michael Grant and Francis Botha before facing Hasim Rahman.
Another upset:
Unexpectedly Rahman connected with Lewis' jaw in the 5th and for the first time in Lewis career he was legitamately out for the count, in a fight declared the 2001 Ring upset of the year Rahman had become the undisputed champion of the world...
Champion III:
...However his reign only lasted about 7 months, in the rematch Lewis landed a beautiful combination in the 4th gaining revenge and leaving Rahman on the canvas. He equalled a record only previously done by the The Greatest (Ali) and "The real deal" (Holyfield) by regaining the title 3 times. And his next fight was against the "Baddest man on the planet" the one they called "Iron Mike", who was a very faded version of his 80's demeanor and the one who tore through the 80's heavyweight scene...

Review of Virent Ova! Viret Perna! Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Seuss by
frkurt
Advantages: The eggs are still green! The ham is still green!
Disadvantages: Latin, alas, is obscure...
....
Or
Omni loco tuam pernam,
Semper ova tua spernam.
They employ in many cases (as can be seen above) an eight-syllable line of trochaic rhythm that conclude in end-rhymes of at least two syllables (not just the final syllable). This is a common rhyming pattern in ancient Latin, used in secular and religious verse, dramatic and comedic. This can approximate the pattern, if read with the right intonations, the same kind of feel one would get from Dr. Seuss!
While this is not a Latin grammar, and the construction of verbs, noun endings, etc. are not explicated, still one can begin to pick up the basics of Latin grammatical construction from texts like ‘Virent Ova! Viret Perna!’ Jennifer Tunberg (Ph.D., Oxford) and Terence Tunberg (Ph.D., Toronto) are both educators, and thus have a care for the reader learning something from the text...

The ultra modern ancient gaelic music siren.
Review of Lion And The Cobra, The - Sinead O'Connor by
steerpyke
Advantages: --
Disadvantages: --
...Sinead O'Connor has always been a name to conjure up many images, headstrong, controversial, blasphemous to some, and whilst these descriptions may in some ways be justified they do distract from the one thing that she probably wants to be known for, that is making beautiful, intelligent and thought provoking music. After spending time with bands such as In Tua Nua and Ton Ton Macoute she recorded a demo, with the aid of Waterboy Karl Wallinger, and on the strength of that was signed to Ensign records. The demo became the basis of her fantastic debut album, The Lion and The Cobra and the rest as they say is history. One of the most memorable images of O'Connor is her hair, or lack of it and it is a tribute to how serious she was to be accepted for her music alone that she deliberately projected, in her eyes, an unglamorous image to stop...
