Reviews of tuba 4
A Tuba Concerto - not a common sight
Review of British Tuba Concertos by
SScott764
Advantages: Good tuba muisc
Disadvantages: None
.... This movement has an amazing cadenza (a show off section for the soloist) which then leads to a final flourish which rounds up the concerto wonderfully. This third movement is also quite good and is a perfect way to finish up the concerto.
After the Gregson Concerto, comes the Tuba Concerto (1983) by Roger Steptoe.
4 - Con poco moto - poco piu mosso - Allegro
5 - Giocoso
6 - Molto calmo
This concerto is my least favourite of the four, possibly because compositionally it is twelve-toned and doesn't really seem to have a nice melodic line to it. The first movement is slow and good enough to listen to, but its not really that wonderful, then the second movement is a bit faster but it still sounds as horrible as the first movement with the lack of a nice sounding tune, and then finally there is the thrid movement which is very calm...

Tubas, Mullets and Government Conspiracy Theories
Review of Hitler Bad Vandals Good - Vandals (The) by
eca99ajm
Advantages: Some INCREDIBLEY catchy tracks and very funny vocals
Disadvantages: Whiney voices and some bellow par tracks
...The Vandals. What can you say about a band who cover such diverse topics as mullets, dead girlfriends, government conspiracy theories and Tubas? Well, you can say that The Vandals were formed in the early 80’s in Orange County and are perhaps the biggest ‘comedy’ punk group around. By ‘comedy’ I don’t mean the music – The Vandals play full on punk music – they just have very bizarre lyrics covering a vast range of topics….
At the time of this album, the line was: Dave Quackenbush (Vocals), Joe Escalante (Bass, backing vocals), Warren Fitzgerald (Guitars, backing vocals, Keyboards) and Josh Freese (Drums and backing vocals).
The cover is pretty boring with a picture of the good ole USA with a nuclear family in the middle. The notes do get a big thumbs up from me because...

Tchaikovsky's Fourth
Review of Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4 by
berlioz
Advantages: Very exciting and powerful piece of emotional hysteria
Disadvantages: If you're obsessed with classical form and beauty, then this might just be too much
...but never gets out of hand.
My third recommendation would be Lorin Maazel's Vienna Philharmonic which, while not quite as exciting as Szell's version, unravels with a sense of inevitability. Maazel doesn't push the music, but rather lets it come out naturally on its own. That's not to say the performance is lacking in excitement, but it is more like excitement that is controlled rather than marked. The first movement for instance flows freely without dragging, while the finale is taken slower than in his later version, reaching a very excited conclusion. And every time when the Fate motto appears, it always resonates with force and great dramatic weight.
SCORED FOR
2 flutes and piccolo, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, triangle, cymbals, bass drum and strings.

4head, 4 me & 4 you
Review of 4Head Headache Relief by
memphisto_chick
Advantages: Quick, Easy To Use, Drug Free
Disadvantages: Price, Could Irritate Sensitive Souls!
...Today I woke up with an excruciating headache. I thought it was from lack of sleep, Dexter the dog had been unwell in the night, I'd felt unwell and hubby was restless in his sleep which kept me awake. As per usual when I get a headache, I reached for the Ibuprofen and took two tablets. This normal ensures I get quick effective relief.
Today, they didn't work, uh-oh, is this a migraine, my neck was hurting, my right eye felt awful and I just wanted to sleep. I couldn't wait for the arrival of my online shop from Tesco.com so I could take 2 paracetamol as well. I did this and as it was 4 hours after taking my last 2 ibuprofen, I took these too. 2 hours later my head was encased in what felt like a vice like grip, I was convinced this was a migraine so I took out my migraleve and took 2 pink tablets these are much stronger and have...

Intel Pentium 4 2.4b
Review of Intel P4 2.40B 512KB S478 Box 533FSB by
Rabid
Advantages: Very fast, highly overclockable, quite cheap now
Disadvantages: None
...The Intel Pentium 4 series has taken a few turns over the last couple of years with faster and faster processors being released and on many different formats, i'll do my best to offer a small insight and background into those previous products (as i feel this is very relevant in order to explain my reviewed products features and capabilities better).
The Pentium 4 series started way back in 2001 with the introduction of the P4 1.4ghz CPU running on a 100mhz front side bus, and required motherboards in a socket 423 format, the core of this processor was named 'Willamette' and was widely available of systems supporting RDRAM only, later that year there were many other P4 releases (1.5ghz upwards) and also came the introduction of systems supporting the noticably slower SDRAM which proved a massive hit to joe public as it was a far...

Save The 4x4 - It's As Important As A Whale!
Review of Should 4x4 Cars Be Banned? by
markd_uk
Advantages: 4x4 Vehicles Are As Needed By Some As Smart Cars Are By Others
Disadvantages: Needless Government Taxation
...Hi, my name's Mark and I'm a four-by-four driver. [Cue: round of applause]
Phew, I'm glad I've got that off my chest. I mean, it's difficult these days driving around in a car that causes everybody to hate you. It makes you feel like a pariah. Thanks to the government, mentioning that they were going to tax so-called Chelsea Tractors off the road, the media have gone into an anti-4x4 frenzy and now it seems that owning such a vehicle is as socially unacceptable as running naked down the middle of the high street.
Let's examine this for a moment. What is it that Range Rovers, Jeeps, Toyota Land Cruisers - and the plethora of other off-road vehicles that make up this category - are doing that makes them so despised? After all, they take up less space on the road than your everyday Rolls Royce and the boss's BMW 7-series is quite...

Ford Explorer , A 4x4 4 all seasons !
Review of Ford Explorer 4.0 by
HarryGee
Advantages: Excellent second hand buy & very competent off-roader
Disadvantages: Poor Residual value
...After getting rid of my troublesome Peugeot I wanted to buy another 4x4 as I missed my old Discovery. Previously I have over looked the Explorer in favour of Land Rovers Discovery or Mitsubishi,s Shogun and what a surprise I got when i eventually got behind the wheel of Fords big leviathon. It may look like a box and have all the aerodynamics of a brick, but dont let this put you off. This is definately one of the best 4x4,s around and that I have owned or driven. The 4 litre V6 and auto gearbox is the best around and is smooth as silk compared to the Land Rovers "agricultural" feel and clunks. Transferring between high and low ratios is also a breeze by the use of a 3 way switch on the dash (auto, high, low).
All Explorers are basically introduced into the UK crammed with American specification (argubly the toughest market in the world...

4head, 4neck, but not 4seriuos pain
Review of 4Head Headache Relief by
SarahSkas
Advantages: Natural, gives a lovely cooling sensation
Disadvantages: No good for moderate-severe pain
...Unfortunately, I have suffered with headaches since the tender age of 11; however, when I was 17 they took an ugly turn for the worse and peaked at their most painful. After becomming dependant on prescribed pain killers (read my review on Co-codamol for more information) and coming off those, I longed for a relief which would not involve ingesting more pesky tablets.
I first saw 4head advertised on TV and the advert caught my eye because of the claims it made: relief of headache without the need for popping pills! I felt a wave of hope as I picked up my coat and lightfooted it down to the chemist.
I asked the assistant where it was kept and was suprised when she pointed to a tiny box, located on the counter (it was being featured). It was a lot smaller than I thought, which makes sense as this enables it to fit into small...

4X4 Evolution is great
Review of 4 x 4 Evolution (PS2) by
dreadedfist
Advantages: Completely modifiable 4X4 vehicles that can be changed to fit your specific needs
Disadvantages: Not enough tracks to race on
...This game is absolutly amazing! After playing the game for almost a week, I've come to the following conclusions. The Graphics are completely astounding, and really help make you feel like you're truly behind the wheel of a souped up 4X4! The SFX are great. 4X4 EVO features every type of sound imaginable, including: enviornment, skidding, acceleration, car horns, and the "thump thump crash" of driving across a sand dune at 80 MPH towards a checkpoint!
One of the greatest aspects of 4X4 Evolution is the "go anywhere" style the developers approached the game with. Sure, you could follow the predesigned paths and roads, but why not experiment with all different types of routes that you can take to win the race? Driving over mountains, through forests, through streams and off bridges is a great deal of fun that really adds...

My First 4x4
Review of Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 by
markd_uk
Advantages: Good equipment, comfy ride
Disadvantages: Running costs, electrics, spongy brakes
...eye that said I couldn’t be swayed, immediately started searching 4x4 directories for models with seven seats, but not one matched the Tonka toy image in my head. If I was going to do this I needed My First 4x4, a vehicle with big simple buttons that were easy to understand the function of, yet it needed to be almost indestructible, like my Tonka toys were.
The executive in me recognised that the needs of my job meant many motorway miles would be piled onto whatever was purchased so it needed to be comfortable and well-specked, but the traditionalist in me said that if I was buying a 4x4 it needed to have a history, it needed to be capable. I wasn’t going to be accused of just doing the school run in this thing: it was going off-road under my ownership.
Scouring the magazines, reading the websites, getting the brochures...
