Tummy Time!
Advantages: different, bright colours, helps strengthen muscles
Disadvantages: bulky
...Tummy time for babies is really important for their muscle development. When I went along to my children's centre they stressed the importance of giving my baby some time on her tummy every day. This is to help them build their little muscles up in their necks, arms and shoulders which helps them learn to crawl. It also helps them with their eye movements too as they are in a different position to usual.
Whenever I put my daughter on the floor on her tummy she'd last for about five seconds before realising she wasn't on her back and she'd start crying. I tried propping a cushion under neath her chest to help raise her a little bit but she somehow would manage to burrow her head into it and then get even more frustrated and distressed.
I bought this picnic play mat as I saw it online and thought it sounded like a good idea seeing...

I have got a tummy ache
Advantages: Quick fun game
Disadvantages: You may have to play it over and over again
...toys
Wymondham Business Park
Chestnut Drive

Cost: £8- Direct from Orchard
£8.99 - From my independent toy shop
Age: 3 - 10 years old
Players: 2 - 4 players
The box:
Like usually with Orchard toys you are faced with a brightly coloured box, with tummy ache written across the top of the front box and pictures of food with little creepy crawlers crawling all over them. On the back of the box it shows you what you get inside the box.
Inside the box you get:
1 set of instructions in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutuch
4 place cards about 21 by 15 cm. You have a blue and white checked background as the tablecloth, tummy ache written across the bottom of the card, a fork and spoon laid across the top of the board and the centre strip of the card is divided in to 5 rectangles...

Tummy Tubs Great for Parents with back Problems
Advantages: Easy to use and ideal for people with back problems !
Disadvantages: Can't actually think of any :)
...Imagine if you will .. a clear anatomically shaped bucket, tapering slightly from the bottom to the top, with a good grip roll handle at the top for ease of carrying, filling & emptying. If you suffer from a bad back, You will know how awkward leaning across a bath is, when washing your little ones, Well this is where the tummy tub comes into it's own. You can fill it easily and sit on the floor with the tub either between your legs as you sit straight legged on the floor, or on a table, or you can kneel right up next to it .. Whatever is more comfortable for you.
I found it an absolute godsend with my third baby, by which time my back was well & truely beggared !
Of course it is also particularly good for the babies too, because of the natural 'womb' position that it enables them to sit in, They also keep warmer and apparently it is...

No Room for a Rubber Duck!
Advantages: makes bath time easier, water stays warm for longer, babies feel safe
Disadvantages: son outgrew the Tummy Tub at 4 months old as it was too restrictive
...Like most parents, when I first bathed my son I was very nervous and worried that he would slip out of my hands as I was all fingers and thumbs. My Health Visitor told me about the Tummy Tub as she had used it to bathe her children when they were young babies. Bathing a young baby can be very fiddly and I just didn't seem to have enough hands, so I ordered the Tummy Tub from Mothercare and it cost £19.99.
The Tummy Tub looks like a bucket and is a unique womb shaped clear tub, which helps your baby to relax and be calm in the familiar foetal position. As the surface area of the bath is small, the surrounding water keeps your baby warmer for longer. The Tummy Tub can also help to make your baby feel confident and secure.
The Tummy Tub has a 13cm / 5inch water mark and the water should come up to your baby's chest. If your baby...

Tummy Ache - A hilarious game for all the family
Advantages: A quick game - very easy to pick up
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too quick
..., vegetables, meat/main course and potato/pasta/rice.
There are 4 cards (made of hard wearing cardboard) for each section, and there are also 2 'tummy ache' cards for each section. 'Tummy ache' cards show food that is not quite right - ie ants in the pudding, caterpillars on the vegetables etc. YUCK!
All the cards are shuffled and placed first down. The youngest player starts by taking the top card and placing it in the correct place on their board (if there is a free space). Tummy Ache cards still have to be placed, but can be removed if a proper food card is picked up. Play goes in a clockwise direction and the winner is the first person to complete their board without any tummy aches!
It really is a fun game for young children, however I'm not sure what the enjoyment value would be for a child in the older end of the age scale (ie...

A bucket for babies?
Advantages: baby likes it, helps if the baby has bellyache
Disadvantages: it can overturn!, lines that show how much water you need are hardly readable, its difficult to wash and hold the baby at the same time
...I have a 7 months old daughter and already during my pregnancy i searched for a perfect bathing tub for her...and after looking through many internet forums I came to the decison that a Tummy Tub seems to be exactly what I´m looking for ;). Today I´d like to tell you about our experiences with that bathing tub that every midwife and pediatrician recommend...well, at least the producer of the Tummy Tub, DomoVital says that ;).
The Tummy Tub is actually not a bathing tub but rather a bucket. Some people might find it strange to bath a baby in a bucket ;).
1. Some general information
The Tummy Tub is produced by DomoVital. They are from Germany, their adress is:
DomoVital Vertriebs GmbH
Kolpingweg 4
48720 Rosendahl/Darfeld
The have representives in the UK, the can be found in:

LITTLE BUDDHAS
Advantages: Too many to mention here
Disadvantages: can be a bit pricey
...One summer while camping in France, I saw something that was to influence my choice of baby bath many years later.
There was a french family 'next door' to our tent, who one day plonked their 1 and a half year old daughter in a bucket of water and left her playing quite happily for a good hour. The bucket never once tipped over and as it was so hot She seemed quite content to be keeping cool in her BATH.
I took a photo of this and to this day am always reduced to chuckles when looking at the little 'Madmoiselle'.
So when walking around a baby store here in Germany and coming across a TUMMY TUB-my instant reaction was my strong recollection of this Bucket bath I had witnessed in France.
This is what a Tummy Tub really is-A glorified BUCKET...ok go ahead have a good laugh...I know i did when I first saw them. But they really...

Bucketload of hype
Advantages: Small, easy to sell
Disadvantages: Small, expansive, difficult to hold and bath baby at the same time
...It is one of the biggest fears of every new parent how to handle baby baths. Most of the people I talked to were apprehensive of getting so precious and tiny creature into the bath for the first time. Company behind Tummy Tub took that into account and 'invented' natural tub for bathing babies.
With the first child we opted for usual equipment and occasionally had problems getting baby into the water (depending on the mood). For the second baby my wife got excited about Tummy Tub and we got it as a present from her brother.
We used it quite a few times and I will try to compare it with normal plastic bath for babies by commenting claims from the official site of the product (www.tummytub.co.uk)
- Bath time enjoyment from birth.
Still not confirmed as my son is year and a half old and cannot tell us. We noticed some quiet...

It's Tummy Time!
Advantages: Nicely designed; versatile
Disadvantages: Not very comfortable for young babies
...This is a very versatile toy with lots of lovely features that my 11 month old son still plays with. I bought it for him when he was two months old as I was looking to find a way of encouraging him to play on his tummy and had read a lot of positive reviews about this product.
Product Description
This toy comes in two parts. The first part of the toy is a nice, brightly coloured play mat which is about 70cm in diameter and is in the shape of a flower with 5 petals. Each petal has a different activity; there is a bumble bee attached to the mat by elastic which has a rattle inside, there are two large leaves which have crinkly material inside, there is also a butterfly whose wings have the same crinkly material, there is a flower with a mirror attached to it which can be removed, and there is a nest with some baby birds in it...

My Bhudda Baby
Advantages: light, stable, easy to use, safe
Disadvantages: Pricey, hard to find
...Well, my mother in law bought us a tummy tub while I was still pregnant. And it's been the best present we received! The tummy tub will cost you about £18 - £20 if you can get it online.
The tummy tub is a clear, leaning towards frosted, bucket basically. It has good handles for griping it and it's very easy to carry when filled with water. It has a wide base to prevent it from tipping over and a rubbery ring on the bottom to help it grip to the surface it is on. All in all, a very safe design.
The tummy tub provides two different ways of washing baby. The first way, you fill with warm water up to the line that runs all the way around the tub and baby sits in the bottom of the tub legs crossed in front of them. It looks strange but they love it! this is the way we use with out son as it allows him to sit up unaided in the tub...
