...This review is actually on the Korg CA-30. It seems in almost every respect the same as the GA-30. I would however like to highlight some of my experiences with this tool. Nearly all my experiences have been favourable. The machine is a chromatic tuner. This means that it can and has been used on a variety of instruments, mostly string ones from mandolins to Super low basses and bassoons. I have made one or two guitars in my carreer too. The tuner can be calibrated from between 410 - 480 Hz for C. This is highly accurate I've checked it on my frequency meter. When the tuner is calibrated, it can then be used to tune the other strings on the instrument. There are three ways to do this. ...These little machines are so good that I decided to buy a second one. They are one of the most efficient guitars tuners around. I always reccomend them to both beginner and advanced guitarsits. They are so simple that they completely take care of the tuning process. Design: This is partly what attracts me to KORG tuners. The design of the CA-30, like the GA-30 bass tuner and the MA30 metronome, is very simple and sturdy. The face is slightly bigger than a credit card and it's width is less than 1cm. ...The Korg GA-30 is a must for anyone who tunes guitars. I have recently started to learn to play guitar, initially finding the tuning process frustraiting and long. (I play piano and have that tuned every 6 months, tuning a guitar every time i play = long) I just want to get down to playing! The korg is fantastic, you can tune using the inbuilt mic, great if its quiet, but better still to plug in the direct jact port. Then just watch the scale and/or the led's, green is good and you away. Literally seconds to get the note perfect. It also has a function to drop the note your tuning by a semi-tone to 5 semi-tones (ie two and half tones (notes) so tuning a drop D is easy as pie and you don't have reconfigure the device, just a touch of a button and you can drop tune any note! You simply cannot kill it. A big drawback with the N1 is the complicated menu system - it takes a long time to get from one place to another and the sound banks follow a strange logic that takes a while to learn. Having used other touch-screen Korgs, I feel that one of these might have been a better buy. To emphasis, searching for the menu you need can be very stressful indeed and the manual is awful. The factory reset, for example, is not detailed in the manual and I had to use the internet to find a person who could tell me what to do! ...I use this stage piano in my rock band, barkerhound(.com). It is full length (88 notes) with what I would call semi-weighted keys. I'm actually a pianist, so my knowledge of keyboards/synths is more limited. However, as a pianist going to a keyboard I love the action and feel of these keys, there's really something to play against and the responsiveness is nice - not too light. It has 6 different sound options - Piano, Electric Piano, Harpsichord, Vibraphone, Organ and Strings plus various other functions which to be honest, I don't really go near - I pair this Korg up with a Nord rack (better piano/organ sounds). On saying that, I will be using this Korg as part of a piano/vocal duo and know that it is light enough to be wheeled about in it's flight case (I'm a girl, the boys I know carry it with even more ease). ...I bought this pedal just after it first came out (i think) around 10 months ago, christmas time. It cost me about £80, although i think that these days you can get it for £60 or less. At the stage of buying it, I knew little about possible effects for the guitar, and i was amazed when i first got the pedal as to how i could make the guitar sound. Sadly, after using other pedals and listening to how some effects can be used I realised that most of the (many) effects featured on the pedal were not up to scratch and didnt follow through (i.e., they were all shit). The Korg AX1000G features 32 different settings, each one with a massive array of possible effects, plus you can sort on mix and match between effects (ambience, modulation and amp type). ...I bought this item for £15 from a specialist guitar shop and I have to say it was well worth every penny! I have an electric guitar, one of which was terribly out of tune. It corrected the tuning perfectly and now my guitar doesn't sound in pain every time I play it. This tuner can be used on acoustic guitars, as well as electric ones, also for bass guitars, but I do not own a bass so I don't know how it performs in that area. Electric guitars can be plugged into the side of the tuner for more precise tuning. It does have a built-in microphone, so connecting it to your guitar isn't completely necessary. Due to the microphone, this allows acoustic guitars to be tuned as well. It has a very simple interface, and as a beginner to the world of guitars, I found it extremely easy to operate.
