Advantages: Delightful, charming, historic and good beer

...Many years ago (late 70s,early 80s) I lived and worked in Oxford and frequented a charming little pub called the Turf Tavern. In fact for several months I actually lived in rooms that the pub used to let (I don't know if they still let rooms). I had fond memories of this ancient and charming pub and so recently upon visiting Oxford with the family I took the opportunity to revisit to see if it was as I remembered. To my delight it has not changed very much. They seem to have reworked the interior at the rear a bit so there seems to be a little more room but there is still not a lot of room inside. The Turf Tavern is very well hidden but not a secret to anybody who knows Oxford. You can impress your companions with your knowledge of Oxford if you can find the Turf Tavern. ...The Turf Tavern is a delightful pub in the in the centre of Oxford. It here that Bill famously did not inhale. Location The pub is located down an alleyway, which joins Holywell Street and New College Lane. 18th century cottages and the Old City Wall, 13th century, surround it. On the other side of the city wall is New College and across Holywell Street is Wadham College. It is ideally situated for anyone who has just visited the colleges in the centre and landmarks such as the Radcliffe Camera. Surroundings The layout of the Turf is rather archaic and I think this adds to its character. The ceilings inside are quite low. There are two medium size rooms inside. ...I first met the Turf in 1992 during a summer holiday when I went on a 'Blue Badge' walking tour of Oxford. Unfortunately we did not have time to stop for a pint. However, I did learn that this strangely located pub was once Jude the Obscure's haunt (good for practising Latin and meeting up with ex-wives and so on) and that it was originally a cider house. As the other great discovery of this holiday was cider (I'm from the US by birth and this was my first trip to the UK), it was essential that I come back later. But how to find it? Here's a chance to impress your friends and relatives if they've not been to Oxford before. The Turf is located in Bath Place and from the west you go through a narrow alleyway (it's called St. Helen's Passage but you'll need a fairly detailed A-Z to find that out) which you'll find almost underneath... Advantages: Decent graphics and music, simultaneous 2 player action

...Not only are the likes of the opening sequence and the difficulty settings of Rushing Beat (the Japanese version of the game) missing from Rival Turf!, but I believe there to be insignificant tweaks to the fighting system as well. There are two playable characters to choose from, though there seems to be this glitch with Oozie Nelson where he is able to power-bomb an enemy successively without extending the damage dealt, but this is a minor issue. A feature of Rival Turf! is the Angry Mode, whereby following much damage taken, the player temporarily becomes invincible and is able to deal out heavy damage. Might as well turn it on as there's really not much scope when it comes to the fighting. There's no priority move - not even the special attack which comes at the cost of the player score. Advantages: Fun to play, easy to pick up

...In general, I like golf games. Provided they're simple to play, and don't take too long to update the screen (like many older games, such as World Class Leaderboard). I'm also picky about the information given to you on the screen - I want both distance to hole and maximum shot distance with the selected club both shown at the same time, while you take your shot. I want a nice simple wind power/direction display. And I want interesting courses with a good mix of short par 3 holes and bloody long par 5s. And this is Neo Turf Masters down to a tee (sorry). A clear display, easy to use controls and all the required information without cluttering it all up.
