ELONEX Desktop PC (Athlon 64 X2 6000+) from ASDA

Advantages: reasonable high spec, plenty of USB ports, wireless LAN, firewire, very good price
Disadvantages: missing operatin system CD-ROM for that batch, took a long time to get it

...I bought this system back in August from ASDA electricals (on behalf of Elonex) for £464.95 (+ £12 delivery charge) with standard 1 yr warranty. The system arrived 3 days later. Around that time only and at that price I got AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Dual Core Processor, integrated 256mb PCI Express Graphics card and 7.1 Surround Sound, 2GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM, 320GB Maxtor DiamondMax 21 SATA-II Hard Disk, 18x Samsung DVD-Rewriter Multiformat inc. dual layer, 20" LCD monitor with speakers, Multi-Card Reader, Microsoft Keyboard & Optical Mouse. AMD turion tl-58:- a great prcessor all round

Advantages: speed, perormance, no dodgy intel media graphics
Disadvantages: none really

...The processor operates at 1.9 Ghz which is not the fastest processor in the world, the fastest in the family of processors is the Turion TL-66 at 2.3Ghz. This speed is definately not bad though, with many intel laptop processors coming in at around 1.6 Ghz to 2Ghz. The speed is definately more than fast enough for the standard home user and probably fine for business use or even professional use. AMD Athlon 64 4400+ X2

Advantages: Cheap,Fast,Easy to Install
Disadvantages: None

...only uses 65 Watts of Electric, Better for the environment  and cheaper for my bills. In Windows Vista the Processor gets rated 4.9 out of 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index which you can tell is very good for such a low priced CPU. I would recommend getting a Power Supply of at least 400Watts for this processor and it must have a 24 Pin Power connector and a P4 Connector for the Motherboard, if you do not the computer may not start. You will also need to find a compatible motherboard for this as well but if you are building your own PC I would suspect you know which parts to use. The CPU Runs at 2.3 GHZ it is overclockable but I did not try this as the computers were not for me. Advantages: 80gb hdd AMD duo processor 64x2 , 1024 DDR2 RAM
Disadvantages: No firewire, intergrated graphics, No S-Video Port

The downside to it is that it has no firewire installed, and no S-Video port, also intergrated graphics , which uses some of your memory , therefor reducing speed a little. Having said that the AMD 64x2 dual processor make multi - tasking easy. It has Vista Home installed , this makes finding and using programmes much easier.It has a good quality DVD writer for dual format discs. It is lightweight for mobile use and very robust. For a good value laptop this is about the best for its price. It also has some software added such as Roxio for copying cd's and dvd's, it also has a 60GB hard drive for storage. ...Around a year ago, I built myself a computer and decided to continue using AMD processors as I have found them to be very reliable. I opted for the X2 4800+ as it was the right value of power and price. The installation of the processor was relatively hassle free and without problem as the bundled heat sink had easy fit fixtures attached to it. Once the processor was installed and all the componants put in place, the computer worked without a problem and even when putting the processor under load. Due to the case that I selected the air flow was fantastic so the processor ran realitvely cold, around 45 - 50 degrees. I found the processor to be very versatile as well, as I overclocked each core to over 3GHz without any loss of stability and there was also software provided that allowed for a variable clockspeed depending on the load...

My experiences with the X2 6000+

Advantages: Price, performance
Disadvantages: Heat

...A brilliant processor, can run the latest games with ease. Brilliant value too! I play the likes of crysis and cod4 seamlessly with this processor. There are a few things you must be careful of though, first of all this processor gives out a fair amount of heat! I dont feel that the supplied fan is good enough, but that could just be because of my cramped case. Secondly, the edges are sharp! I cut myself while installing it. Be careful! This is a very reliable cpu, I overclocked it to 3.4ghz and it didnt complain at all. Thats with an aftermarket cooler though. I upgraded from a single core and was surprised the massive difference it made. So, in conclusion, this is a very impressive cpu for an appealing price!
