...I've had this laptop for 3 days now, and so far I've had no problems with it. I paid £388 for it from LaptopsDirect.co.uk, which I think is reasonable for what you get. After first opening the laptop and switching it on, you are presented with the Windows Setup Screen where you must enter your name etc. After all that the laptop crashed, and I had to remove the battery to reboot it. However, this is the only time the laptop has crashed. The 5051AWXMi comes with 512MB RAM by default, which is a bare minimum these days, especially with the upcoming release of Windows Vista which requires at least 512MB RAM. It also has an AMD Turion 64 MK36 2.0GHz processor, which is slightly higher than average for a laptop this price. .... There are two stero speakers on this front, and you can control the volume using short cut keys on the key board or by clicking on Volume control once logged in. ...Please bow your heads and stand a moment in silence to mark the passing of my old laptop, an Acer travelmate 230, which, after four years and one too many blows to the head, finally gave up the ghost and went to laptop heaven with some of my holiday photos still on the hard disk. It's OK, they were still on the cards, so all I have to do is re-edit. I'm now the proud owner of a new Acer, and it is quite an upgrade on the old one. For one thing it has the AMD Turion 64 processor, which is apparently dual core. I would buy AMD over Intel anytime. It has built in wireless which connects so easily that I had to turn it off as I wanted to load AVG antivirus before I connected to the internet. Advantages: cheap, good quality laptop with decent features, upgradable.

...The processor operates at 1.9 Ghz which is not the fastest processor in the world, the fastest in the family of processors is the Turion TL-66 at 2.3Ghz. This speed is definately not bad though, with many intel laptop processors coming in at around 1.6 Ghz to 2Ghz. The speed is definately more than fast enough for the standard home user and probably fine for business use or even professional use. Although it is not the fastest it is still reasonable, and it has to be said that being a laptop processor it can not be expected to reach the same speeds as desktop processors which I have known to reach 3.2Ghz. For anyone out there who is not technologically minded like me, and who does not understand Ghz, Mhz etc, it is quite fast, that is the simple version.
