THE JEWEL OF TURKEY!
Advantages: Cheap and Beautiful
Disadvantages: Hassle off Restaurant promoters so to speak....
...When i heard that i was going on holiday to Turkey 2 years ago, all that went through my mind was "Is it close to Iraq?!?" I thought of this due to the emense fighting that was going on in Iraq at the time i was going. I also thought "What if Turkey isnt fun?".
May 21st 2003, was the day i first went to Turkey with mixed emotions i boarded my plane from Birmingham to the Airport nearby to the resort of Marmaris named Dalaman.
+~ ON THE OTHER SIDE ~+
Dalaman is about 1hr and 30 mins away from the actual resort. Upon entering the terminal you have to have your passports ready straight away as you have to pay a visa, From the UK this price is £10 but it varys from place to place. The main terminal building is small but your luggage usualy come round quite quick, and the cost of a luggage trolly is about £1. Outside of the airport...

Hanging out with the Fairies in Turkey
Advantages: Beautiful scenery, eerie architecture, lovely people
Disadvantages: Not so easy to get to, very hot in summer
...is - slap bang in the middle of Turkey. It's in the central Anatolian plane - a long way from the seaside and, at the time of writing, a long way from Van province where the bird flu problems have been to date.
Why would I want to go to Cappodocia?
********************************
Well, that's pretty much what my parents asked me. Why go to Turkey and not go to the seaside? If you want a beach holiday or a lazing around the pool trip, this isn't for you. However, Cappodocia has some of the most spectacular and eerie scenery in the world and it's perfect for an easy-to-moderate walking holiday especially if you like a combination of history and topography.
Millions of years ago - some estimates say about 10 million so geologically speaking, that's the week before last - volcanoes erupted in the region covering the land with thick...

Which part of the turkey does the bacon come from??
Advantages: Healthy and quite tasty
Disadvantages: None
...When I am keeping to my diet ( when!!!) Mattesons Turkey Rashers will always be found on my shopping list and in my fridge.
These turkey rashers are available in two varieties - plain and smoked; and they are a great alternative for people who do not eat red meat, do not eat pork for religious reasonsor who are watching their weight but still fancy a bit of a 'bacon fix' !
Mattesons are a well know name in the cooked meat business and it is the working name for Kerry Foods Ltd.
These are on sale at the moment for £1.85 for a 150g pack
WHAT ARE TURKEY RASHERS
The Turkey rashers consist of meat that comes from the turkey thigh and it is chopped, and reformed into strips that is supposed to look like 'real' bacon.
Turkey rashers have been designed and produced as a healthy alternative to bacon, they...

Tremendously Taken with Turkey
Advantages: Fabulous
Disadvantages: None
...I have to admit, I have never really been interested in hotel reviews and have never been tempted to write one until now. However, I've come back from a great holiday and hopefully, after reading this, some of you will consider Turkey as your next holiday destination!
TURKEY
---------------
Turkey is located in south Eastern Europe and south Western Asia, next to Iran, Iraq and Syria, and near Cyprus and Greece. It's a four hour flight away from England. The capital city is Ankara, and the main language is Turkish, followed by Kurdish.
The currency is lira, and is such a pain, especially if you're rubbish at Maths like me! One million lira is about 40p, although the exchange rate fluctuates. Keep counting the noughts and you should be okay though. Obviously the language is Turkish but most people spoke German (not many people...

Turkey ( no, not the one which we eat)
Advantages: Lovely people, cheap, the sun
Disadvantages: I had to come home
...My hoilday to Turkey Marmrais started as soon as I got of the plane at Dalaman airport, as I got of the plane the heat just hit me, it was HoT.
After we got off the plane we had a long 2 hour coach drive to Marmaris though the mountains which where lovely but we did have a 15 minutes fag break thank god.
As we got of the coach, I was really tired and all I wanted to do was sleep, but as we entred the hotel my eyes just opened it was lovely the pool was all lit up and you could smell the beach.
My room was lovely and tidy and really clean, before I went to bed I had to have a look around my room, so I went out onto the balcony and I could see the sea and all the boats were lit up.
My room was equipped with all the lastest technology and even had a mini bar which I was really happy with.
The bathroom wasn't that big but had...

The Wild East - excursions in Southeast Turkey
Advantages: a place to rediscover forgotten cultures; beautiful landscape
Disadvantages: huge distances to cover
...You don't need to fly all the way to Central Asia, South America or Central Africa to discover untouched territory. Southeast Turkey bears a treasure of undiscovered culture and nature - little known even by most Turks, let alone western tourists.
This is the land of the ancient Mesopotamia, the world's first real civilisation (that is if you don't believe in Atlantis), from 12 thousand years ago. Embedded between mountain ranges and the rivers of Euphrates and Tigris, this region has been the source of legends for generations. Let yourself be mystified.
This part of Southeast Anatolia is part of the Kurdish territory, and has been barred from visits for decades due to severe security threats. But since late 1999, this part of Kurdistan is open to visitors again, and you may only have a few years to discover this region before...

Icmeler - Turkey at its best
Advantages: hot weather, great people and wonderful memories
Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...Oh, I really didn't want to go to Turkey, but I was out-voted by my husband and two sons aged 6 and 10. This would be our first
trip to the country and I reluctantly packed for 2 weeks in the sun or what I very mistakenly thought was going to be two weeks in a relatively under-developed, somewhat dirty and greasy country.
I have never been more wrong in my life.....
We arrived at 3a.m. after a pleasant if uneventful flight from Newcastle and after paying our £10 per person visa (Only English £10 notes accepted), we were met by two very cheerful and chatty guys who led us to our transport and, after personally gathering the remainder of our fellow holiday-makers, set off in our air-conditioned coach to the resort of Icemeler. The coach journey takes around one and a half hours, but, halfway there, we stopped for toilets...

Tour of Turkey
Advantages: Nice Weather, lots of interesting places
Disadvantages: Tourist areas are slightly too commercial
...I have been to Turkey many times as my husband is Turkish.
The first place I visited was Gumbet, which is a bout a 10 minute drive from Bodrum. Gumbet is quite small compared to other places in Turkey but very tourist orientated. It is full of bars, shops, hotels and restaurants. The one thing I noticed was that most of the tourists I met had heard Turkey was so cheap and really in tourist areas it's not. Yes if you are looking for fake jeans, t-shirts it is cheap but food and drink isn't much cheaper (if at all) than the UK.
Most of the hotels I have stayed in were nice but nothing special to be honest. I'll give a basic run down of the hotels I stayed in:
Club Paloma Apartments - basic but clean, the one thing that put me off was the location. They were situated on a dark road about 5 minutes from the main bar street, I wouldn...

Turkey, How it stuffed us
Advantages: Ideal for families, or those carrying firearms.
Disadvantages: Not ideal for two lads on the pull...
..."If you've had a good time, recommend us to your friends. If you haven't, recommend us to your enemies." - Turkish Boat Trip Operator.
There now follows extracts from my Turkey Journal, written in a haze of beer and paranoia on my second floor balcony, while the resort of Marmaris sweltered below me.
THE FLIGHT
What's the last thing you want to hear the pilot say, twenty minutes into your flight to Dalaman, Turkey? "Erm, we seem to have a problem." He mused from the cockpit, sounding unsure whether to solve it, or strap on his parachute and leave us to it. "There's a slight problem with one of the engines." Passengers look out to see if there's any smoke or flames visible. "It's not serious, but I'm not entirely happy flying all the way to Dalaman on it."
Despite his reassurances, the next twenty minutes as he takes us...

My experience in Bodrum....and Gumbet (Turkey)
Advantages: Clean, great public transport
Disadvantages: Rubbish fakes
...I wasn't exactly delighted when finding out I had to take an educational trip to Turkey, I instantly thought ''That is not my cup of tea!'' As I'm sure you know, Turkey is well known for its pervy men, fakes, and being a very popular place for chavs to take their holidays! Well 1- I was not interested in meeting any men wanting a British passport 2- I hate fakes and 3- I'm sorry..but some chavs REALLY get on my nerves! But I thought...''No..just go! You might be surprised''
So I landed in Bodrum airport in the first week of May 2006. We drove for an hour to arrive in Gumbet, it was dark and the journey wasn't exactly great, the roads are crap over there..very bumpy! All I could see was these shanty little white houses along the side of the road, I wasn't overjoyed.
Gumbet itself was rubbish. Every shop was a fake goods shop...
