Reviews of turok
Turok has its Last Laugh
Review of Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion (N64) by
DJdunce
Advantages: Great gameplay, graphics and sounds
Disadvantages: Still missing a Rare inspired Aiming Sight
...Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion is the Fourth and final ( on the N64 at least) installment of the highly acclaimed Turok series, with arguably the best single player game. The third Turok installement takes the best part from the three previous games adds a whole host of fresh ideas and serves it to you on a golden platter.
The most obvious change in Turok 3 is the absence of Joshua Fireseed (Turok from the first games). with his untimely death in the starting sequence, the fate of the world lands in the slightly weedy laps of one of his two sibblings Joseph or Danielle, the choice is yours. There is a host of differences between our two young heroes, Danielle is taller, slower, her weapons are more lady like and she has a grapple hook which allows her to access areas her shorter, faster, deadlier brother who has night vision goggles...

THE REAL EVIL GAME.
Review of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) by
apatra
Advantages: : GIVES YOU THE REAL MISSION SENSATION.
Disadvantages: TOO DIFFICULT TO PLAY AND BLOODY.
...Please take it easy with me and I hope that you wouldn't mind for the fact that this is an old game, but I still play it at times because the game is the real mission game that I cant even abandon just like that. In this game, acclaim really showed that they had a lot of improvement in this turok 2 the seeds of evil. Actually, the turok especially the 1 that is the dinosaur hunt is the game that really put my interest the Nintendo 64"s mission games.
This turok to me is the actual continuation of the 16 bits nes Jurassic park that dint even continue may be the name got changed. Turok is a Red Indian dinosaur hunter that does really good in his huntings and actually he does not give those beasts a second chance. Well the turok developers acclaim can actually boast of turok being the best mission game...

Poor, very poor
Review of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (PC) by
FitzyG
Advantages: Nice Weapons
Disadvantages: Lame levels, weapons and the graphics should have been upgraded for the PC
...N64 owners liked Turok when it first appeared on their consoles. They boasted about the graphics, gameplay and weapons that it offered. They had a right to do so, as the original Turok was quite fun to play. Then the sequel arrived...quite fun again. Then it was converted to the PC. Oh Dear.
It seems so much like a console game from as soon as you enter the first level. Arcadey, N64 graphics are used, with no improvements made for the PC except the chance to change the resolution (Wow). The levels are FAR too boring, and consist of "find-the-key-for-this-door" style gameplay, with nothing really interesting happening. The weapons are its main high-point, as there are about 20 of them and they are all at least half- decent to use. The enemies are very boring to look at, the AI is bad (Enemies mostly run at you in a straight line...

Seeds of Kicking Butt
Review of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) by
Kevin_Pritchard
Advantages: Awesome graphics, good AI, cool weapons
Disadvantages: Needs the expansion pak for best performance, pathetic ending
...A serious upgrade on Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Turok 2 Seeds of Evil is one great game. The graphics are amazing even without the expansion pak, the control is tight and the Artificial Intelligence is good. The levels are much bigger and better looking. Waterfalls are absolutely stunning. The levels are no longer static, stuff blows up as you walk by, waterfalls well... fall and more.
All the best of the weapons from the first Turok are back including the tek bow, pistol, shotgun, plasma gun, grenade launcher and missile launcher. The new weapons are what really take the cake. The flame thrower is amazing, setting the creatures and surroundings on fire. The fire storm cannon is a chain gun that fires a tracer round every couple of shots to see where your shooting and light up the darkness. The nuke gun, well you can imagine, mass...

Turok - Extinction
Review of Turok - Evolution (PS2) by
petehase
Advantages: Looks great
Disadvantages: Plays bad
...Any fans of the original N64 versions of this game, stop reading now!! That includes me, but as I'm actually writing this review I'm going to need to continue I guess.
For those who don't know the Turok series, it all began as one of the first games released on the N64, 'Turok - Dinosaur hunter'. Which certainly pushed the boundaries of graphics and gameplay at the time. Big weapons, huge levels, a thoroughly addictive 1st person shooter.
On the back of its success, Dinosaur Hunter was quickly followed up with 'Turok2 - Seeds of Evil', and oddly enough 'Turok3 - Shadow of Oblivion'...
OK, historical bit out of the way - they were a few years back, and on a less powerful console - so what did Acclaim have in store for us with the eagerly awaited Turok Evolution on the PS2??
Well, where can I start - the Hype! seems about as good...

Evolution - Certainly not survival of the fittest
Review of Turok Evolution (GameCube) by
MilkyMalky
Advantages: Excellent weaponry, Graphics are OK
Disadvantages: The game just doesn't flow, repetitive
...Mr Darwin always said that evolution should be about survival of the fittest - the best equipped to deal with the situation. The process of evolution should be about constantly improving, and bettering one's self. Right. Just thought I'd clear that up before I start.
I never got to sample the delights of the first Turok game on the N64 - however it's successor, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil was placed firmly in the slot of my N64 for countless hours of filling dinosaurs full of lead, bolts and whatever else you call the sharp end of Acclaim's (um) acclaimed weaponry. The love of the game even persuaded me to purchase Turok: Rage Wars - again an achievement if you give it time.
So there was me eagerly awaiting Turok 4(aptly named, being the 5TH outing of Turok!) with baited breath in anticipation of what next-generation hardware could bring...

Turok
Review of Turok (Xbox 360) by
Batch
Advantages: Dinosaur hunting, random dinosaur and creatures popping up to kill you in multiplayer
Disadvantages: Too dark, weapons are standard, story mode a bit short.
...I first played the game when my friend bought it round to play at my house. I had a go at it and I was amazed by it.
The game has fantastic visuals. This is helped by using the Unreal 3 graphics engine and modified it to make it even better.
The story mode is great. You start off on a spaceship as a new recruit for a company called Whiskey Company. When introduced, the team doesn't like you because Joseph Turok was in Wolfpack and killed Whiskey Company's colleagues. This leads to getting flashbacks of his past. Whiskey Company's spacecraft gets shot down, supposedly by his former leader of Wolfpack and gets stranded on an island where dinosaurs and big creatures roam. Turok must fight against his former leader, along with dinosaurs and other creatures to survive. It can be a bit dark as most of the game is set in the jungle...

Duke Nukem returns in below par
Review of Duke Nukem 64 (N64) by
Fory
Advantages: Good for Retro Gaming
Disadvantages: 2D graphics, too retro
...For anyone who remembers the original platform games would have waited this in anticipation and maybe on the N64's release it would have been passable but today this fails in comparison to all but Doom and Hexen on the N64. The game includes a Co-op game which is the same as the original only now you can team with a friend. This feature which was suprisingly missing from all other good N64 shooters such Goldeneye and Turok (Still Turok does not have a Co-op mode) but Perfect Dark came along and sorted all that out. If you're wanting to get this game thinking it's on par with Goldeneye, Turok or Perfect Dark you are wrong. Except from some of the jokes (Duke actually can go to the toilet) the game is basically crap. The difficulty levels are good but simply blasting everything doesn't go well nowadays. The characters too are badly done...

I am Turok!
Review of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (N64) by
bjlangley
Advantages: Big levels to explore, fearsome dinosaurs to attack
Disadvantages: Some things are too well hidden, jumping difficult
...This was one of the first titles released for the N64, and although good at the time, it has now been bettered. It is however still worth a look. The game is very difficult if you are to complete it properly. I needed a walkthrough and cheats on in order to get through it! The story is pretty standard for this type of game, some guy is doing evil so gather the keys to open up the levels and build the ultimate weapon in order to destroy him, thus saving the world etc. Wandering around shooting at dinosaurs, and later in the game humans too, is very enjoyable, but as you get further into the game it becomes so difficult. Also Turok doesn't have the same intelligence as Goldeneye, you can make as much noise as you like, and no one will investigate. The control system works fine in combat and general exploration, but is very tricky when you...

Turok or not To Rock?
Review of Turok Evolution (GameCube) by
pbyron
Advantages: Lots of modes of play, nice graphics
Disadvantages: Some blocky graphics on pathways, generic
...Ask any N64 owner about Turok and you'll find that it is something of a legend as far as Nintendo 64 owners are concerned. So it now comes down to this latest Turok game, on Gamecube, to re-instate the power of the Dinosaur, can it do the job or will it become extinct before its time?
The premise of this game is that our hero, Tal'Set, has been sent to a dimension of dinosaurs called the lost land and must find Tyrannus, who threatens to take over the place. Not exactly a new formula, but it worked for the previous games, so there’s no need to change it here. You start the adventure armed with a nifty bow and arrow, and get to pick up all manner of weapons from tomahawks to some serious firepower. These will aid you in your quest against the evil forces and some seriously angry dinosaurs that cross your path, and trust me, you'll need...
