Turok off it
Review of Turok Evolution (GameCube) by  sirmitchalot

Advantages: 4 player v.s, fairly good weapons, quite cheap, takes up hardly any memory card space
Disadvantages: Fairly boring levels, annoying dinosaurs that pop out of water and bushes

...Developers-Aklaim No. of players-1-4 controls Memory used-1 block Age- 15+ Genre-Action/ 1st person shoot-em-up Evolution is a slow process, and it looks like it is true with games too, in the case of Turok Evolution any way. Modes Single player Story The Turok is the name given to the name of a special band Indian warriors, who’s names are fabled in stories told to those who wish to honor the heroes. This game is the adventure of the greatest warrior of the Turok- Tal’Set, the leader of the Saquin nation. It is a prequel to the other games in the line (Can you really have that as the game title then, Turok: Evolution, even though it's about the games origins. Maybe it would have been better off called Turok:Origins or Beginnings). Any way, Tal’Set has a nemsis, Captain Tobias Bruckner, a butcher... Read review

Turok - Extinction
Review of Turok - Evolution (PS2) by  petehase

Advantages: Looks great
Disadvantages: Plays bad

...Any fans of the original N64 versions of this game, stop reading now!! That includes me, but as I'm actually writing this review I'm going to need to continue I guess. For those who don't know the Turok series, it all began as one of the first games released on the N64, 'Turok - Dinosaur hunter'. Which certainly pushed the boundaries of graphics and gameplay at the time. Big weapons, huge levels, a thoroughly addictive 1st person shooter. On the back of its success, Dinosaur Hunter was quickly followed up with 'Turok2 - Seeds of Evil', and oddly enough 'Turok3 - Shadow of Oblivion'... OK, historical bit out of the way - they were a few years back, and on a less powerful console - so what did Acclaim have in store for us with the eagerly awaited Turok Evolution on the PS2?? Well, where can I start - the Hype! seems about as good... Read review

Turok has its Last Laugh
Review of Turok 3: Shadows of Oblivion (N64) by  DJdunce

Advantages: Great gameplay, graphics and sounds
Disadvantages: Still missing a Rare inspired Aiming Sight

...Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion is the Fourth and final ( on the N64 at least) installment of the highly acclaimed Turok series, with arguably the best single player game. The third Turok installement takes the best part from the three previous games adds a whole host of fresh ideas and serves it to you on a golden platter. The most obvious change in Turok 3 is the absence of Joshua Fireseed (Turok from the first games). with his untimely death in the starting sequence, the fate of the world lands in the slightly weedy laps of one of his two sibblings Joseph or Danielle, the choice is yours. There is a host of differences between our two young heroes, Danielle is taller, slower, her weapons are more lady like and she has a grapple hook which allows her to access areas her shorter, faster, deadlier brother who has night vision goggles... Turok
Review of Turok (Xbox 360) by  Batch

Advantages: Dinosaur hunting, random dinosaur and creatures popping up to kill you in multiplayer
Disadvantages: Too dark, weapons are standard, story mode a bit short.

...I first played the game when my friend bought it round to play at my house. I had a go at it and I was amazed by it. The game has fantastic visuals. This is helped by using the Unreal 3 graphics engine and modified it to make it even better. The story mode is great. You start off on a spaceship as a new recruit for a company called Whiskey Company. When introduced, the team doesn't like you because Joseph Turok was in Wolfpack and killed Whiskey Company's colleagues. This leads to getting flashbacks of his past. Whiskey Company's spacecraft gets shot down, supposedly by his former leader of Wolfpack and gets stranded on an island where dinosaurs and big creatures roam. Turok must fight against his former leader, along with dinosaurs and other creatures to survive. It can be a bit dark as most of the game is set in the jungle... Read review

Turok or not To Rock?
Review of Turok Evolution (GameCube) by  pbyron

Advantages: Lots of modes of play, nice graphics
Disadvantages: Some blocky graphics on pathways, generic

...Ask any N64 owner about Turok and you'll find that it is something of a legend as far as Nintendo 64 owners are concerned. So it now comes down to this latest Turok game, on Gamecube, to re-instate the power of the Dinosaur, can it do the job or will it become extinct before its time? The premise of this game is that our hero, Tal'Set, has been sent to a dimension of dinosaurs called the lost land and must find Tyrannus, who threatens to take over the place. Not exactly a new formula, but it worked for the previous games, so there’s no need to change it here. You start the adventure armed with a nifty bow and arrow, and get to pick up all manner of weapons from tomahawks to some serious firepower. These will aid you in your quest against the evil forces and some seriously angry dinosaurs that cross your path, and trust me, you'll need... Read review

Turok Evolution review
Review of Turok Evolution (Xbox) by  potato_picker

Advantages: Some good elements
Disadvantages: Lots of bad ones

...XboxTurok Evolution by Rockstar After playing about half the game my feelings are this. When they said “Don’t expect the next Halo” they weren’t joking. If Halo is at the top of the premier league then Turok is at the bottom of the second division. Graphically its nothing out of the ordinary, pretty typical of a PS2 FPS. The problem being that its out of GC and Xbox as well and doesn’t make use of the hardware on offer. Its obvious that it is another case of a multi format game being made with the weakest machine (PS2) in mind. There is no bump mapping for a start, and when your used to it then you notice it. The textures are pretty much no existent with the sides of cliffs and walls having that sort of blurry look with no real depth, which was fine years ago on Goldeneye but its just not good enough now... Turok Evolution : Worth a buy.
Review of Turok Evolution (GameCube) by  hopper84

Advantages: Features sort of "two multiplayer games in one"
Disadvantages: Not a great storyline

...Having played N64 versions of Turok, i had my expectations when i bought "Turok Evolutions", of which most were met. One of my great dissapointments was that the game seemed to feature a lot fewer weapons, although a lot of the weapons now feature secondary fire functions. The sniper modes of a few weapons are very cool, allowing you to snipe off unsuspecting enemy's heads, and watch the blood gush everywhere very close up. The one player game has a fairly basic storyline, with some guy of which we dont get to know too much about kind of blackmailing our main character, by threatening the lives of his fellow villagers if he doesn't comply with his wishes. The main game has very good controls, and takes great advantage of the gamecube's two analogue sticks. Some levels are the game however, feature our hero sat on the back of giant... Read review

Turok back and kicking ass!
Review of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) by  omegasupreme

Advantages: Selection of weaponary
Disadvantages: If you get lost.....

...The long awaited sequel of the first N64 hit Turok finally burst into the shops at Christmas 98’. Although expected Turok 1 was, in a way, understated in it’s playability because of the release of Goldeneye. But this game silences the critics and takes action games into an entirely new reality. It features a whole bunch of new enemies for you to exterminate along with a wide range of explosive, mean looking weaponry. Taking this along with the staggering graphics, enhanced by the splendid edition of the expansion pak, and a multi-player death match it should leave you undoubtedly breathless. The game itself has two main modes which allow you to either play the main game or crush your friends in a ruthless game in the multi-player (which is explained later). Before you start the single player mode it is wise to set your options... Read review

Turok
Review of Turok Evolution (Xbox) by  SpikD

Advantages: Interesting weapons, action
Disadvantages: Slow loading times, poor sound quality

...Turok: Evolution is a first-person shooter video game developed and published by Acclaim Entertainment. The game was released for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox in 2002. This game follows the character Tal' Set, a strong Native American warrior who is transported to the "Lost Land" whilst fighting Captain Tobias Bruckner of the United States Army. He is rescued by a seer named Tarkeen that tells Tal' Set that he is the legendary "Son of Stone", known to them as "Turok". The game then introduces a new enemy, known as "the Sleg". These creatures are a lot like dinosoids and Purr-Linn from the previous games, and seem to have no greater objective than a mission to enslave all humans. As the game progresses, the story develops to reveal that the Lord of the Sleg, Lord Tyrannus, plans to destroy the human city of Galyana... Read review

Turok 2
Review of Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (N64) by  tadosborne

Advantages: enjoyable at times
Disadvantages: not enjoyable at others, and quite tedious

...For those of you who have already played the first of the Turok series, you will have even more fun playing this game. Once again, you take control of Turok, the Dinosour Hunter. This time, you are sent to defend several different planets and areas from the Primagen, an evil race of alien/dinosaur hibrids who seek to conquer the world. In short, you shouldn't really pay an incredible amount of detail to the plot, seeing as it doesn't take an incredble amount of substance from the game, just as long as you pay attention to the objectives that you have to carry out during the game. The game is much like Goldeneye, as far as movement and camera angles are concerned, though I would practice a bit before you get really into the game, even if you are a Goldeneye God. Eventually, you get access to a large amount of weapons... Read review
