...When I first got my Mircrosoft Xbox 360 I didnt have a High-Definition television so I was stuck using the standard component cable. When I finally did upgrade my television I didnt think the picture quality was as good as the hype so did some research and found that maybe VGA would be worth a crack. Upon using the VGA cable for the first time the picture seemed instantly sharper. After tweaking the resolution of both my television and the Xbox 360 I found that the VGA cable was a very good purchase. There are a few issues with the cable though. As the cable displays through 60Hz I had to revert back to the component cable for certain Original Xbox games. This official Microsoft cable won't cause loss of true colours and will produce a brilliant picture on an LCD/CRT PC monitor or an HDTV. Third Party versions of this cable are prone to interference from lights, PC's, the Xbox itself etc., colour loss and loss of quality. They are completely unshielded from these kinds of interference, and are comparable to the array of iPod docking stations with 'tinny' speakers and a poorly constructed plastic feel. ...If you are currently running your XBOX 360 through a TV using the supplied RGB Cables then you are missing out on the power of the 360. When I first bought mine in December 2005 I was using the supplied RGB Cables , this was o.k I was happy with the result , But I wanted desperately to try the HD modes . I had visions of spending £600+ On a New Fangled HDTV from the local Argos Until I read that Literally any old PC monitor would run the XBOX 360 in HDTV mode with these cables !!! I spent my hard earned cash on a set & hooked them up to my Relisys LCD TV ( P.C Monitor & TV all in one) Using the VGA Input . I went to the settings for the 360 & changed to it to 1360 x 768 . The Difference was unbelievable !! , trust me you WILL NOT want to plug those old RGB cables in after this . Everything is much clearer , Crisper & better... Read review

Advantages: Far better picture than standard composite, better looking games

...as future releases should push the hardware far more the the original releases. Gamecube games looked clearer - I tested Star Wars Lego 2, Metriod Prime 2 and with Mario Kart. Mario64 on the virtual console was far better looking an looked really good in 480p. The game looks far better than the original N64 release due to the cleaner cleared visuals and increased definition. The burning question for Wii owners is do I need a component cable? Am I glad I got the Component Cable? Is it value for money? Well I can say yes, The Wii looks great on the TV and I was astounded by the improvement in clarity and colours. Was it worth £22? Well as my TV cost more that thousand pounds £22 is probably justified. What about us you cry? Well follow these principles: Have I got Component Video inputs on my TV? Is my screen 32" or larger... Advantages: Great picture, supports upto 1080p, supports surround sound.
Disadvantages: May not be the best cable for your TV

.... I find the best display mode to use is 720p as the image is more fluid and things appear to be smoother when there is alot of fast paced action on the screen. If however you are playing a slower paced game such as Tiger Woods, I find its best to switch to 1080i as the image is more detailed. I haven't been able to test the 1080p mode as my TV doesn't support it but I imagine it works fine giving you the detail of 1080i with the fluidity of 720p. Over composite the picture isn't so good, it loses all its fidelity but if your purchasing this cable you probably are planning to use it on an HD set. Price: This cable should set you back around £20 and sells at all good video game stores such as Game and Gamestation. You may be able to find a better deal at online retailers such as Amazon.co.uk and Play.com. There are cheaper alternatives... Read review

Advantages: Fantastic multiplayer | Good use of GBA and GC

...cost as an issue in this it really shouldn’t factor too much as most gamers should at least own a GBA and a link cable is bundled in free with the game while purchasing one can be done for under £10. The GBA is used to its full potential in the game. The main overworld is displayed on the TV screen for all to see however if a player wants to investigate what’s inside a house or a cave then they can easily do so without breaking up the game. When you enter one of these places the action then takes place on your GBA while the other players scamper about on the TV screen. It works perfectly and means that players can easily explore for themselves if they want to. It can be slightly odd looking back and forth to your TV and GBA but it soon becomes second nature. Videos There are a number of videos of games being played, This is a demonstration of what the game can do and gives you basic pointers on how to play the game. These videos are on the newer games and not a lot of the older games. The videos are a great tool to see how good the graphics are on a particular game you have seen or heard about. Accessories There are a great deal of accessories available on this site for many consoles. the kind of things you can pick up are pads, steering wheels, cameras, guitars for guitar hero and also things like multi taps and cables to connect the console to the television...
