...The Archos AV500 is a mobile DVR; Digital Video recorder. So what does that mean and why should you be interested? Hopefully this review will help you. Lets start with a basic specification, the Archos AV50 comes in 3 sizes (yes 3 despite what Archos' own site indicates!) 30, 60 and 100GB. It can play Divx 5 and 6, as well as Xvid and Microsoft's PlayForSure video content. It can play WMA, MP3 and WAV files. It can record from a number of sources and it can playback to the TV as well and it understands both PAL and NTSC. It has a 4 inch screen of excellent quality for solo viewing, but because its viewing angle is excellent two people can comfortably watch the screen without both people having to meld their heads together!!! ...to do. -=Advantages=- + The size and weight of the device really is fantastic, especially considering the storage and battery life of it. + The design of the device is fantastic. + iTunes handles everything really well, and makes adding and organising music/photos/videos easy. + Sound/video/picture quality is fantastic + The feature list is great. -=Disadvantages=- - Video Conversion can be a chore - The device itself can be quite pricey (especially after accessory costs, eg £20 to charge it via the mains) - The iPod gets scratched very easily, but this isn't too much of a concern unless you are obsessed with absolute perfect picture/video quality or looks. -=Conclusion=- Although the advantages and disadvantages seem to way up. ...and at Up to 14 hours at a time with the supplied battery. If you want to use the Ipod for video instead of music you can holds up to 75 hours of video at a time. The software that comes with an Ipod is averagely easy to get use too, but you may need to slightly familiarise yourself with it, other than this, it's perfectly fine. Ipods have loads of accessories, apple and aftermarket. You can connect these to your car or house stereo and all sorts. The only problem I can think of with Ipods are they some times, but rarely, freeze and then take ages to unfreeze, sometimes until the battery runs out which could be 24 hours later. Other than this they are superb. On the older Ipods they sometimes came up with an error message and you had to get it repaired, or know how to repair it but I have yet to hear about that on these new Ipods... Read review

...I finally bought one of the Apple iPod Video in the hope of being able to carry around more than just a few CD's, and with the 30 Gig version I think I made a good choice. Over 1500 tracks on it so far and it's only at about 5 gig full. The design, like most Apple stuff, is cool. The black version reflects light with a beautiful glint and the controls are simple yet so powerfull. They consist of one switch (Hold) which lock out inadvertent touches of the main front pad. This consists at first sight of five buttons, one central and four in a circle around the outer circle. A basic menu button allows you to move back up to the menu above your last choice. ...For the money this music player is one of the best available, however, there are a few things Apple could have improved over the prior generation models that they didn't. Issue 1: The LCD is too small for normal viewing. This ipod is a "video" model but yet I can buy a PSP for a £40 less, have more of a screen area, and still be able to play games. Keep in mind you won't have 30 gigs of storage, but I have almost 4,000 songs and 10 music videos and still have around 24 gigs lefts. Who really needs that much space? Issue 2: The player uses a menu system that makes it very time consuming to find what you are looking for. Let's say you want to find a song by Kanye West. I can search by Song, Artist, or by letter. The LG KE-14U73 is a TV / VCR combination that must be the amongst the best value combis around. At a price of little more than £130 you would have every right to expect a poor picture and tinny sound, however, the LG surprises and delights. Although not a flat screen the picture is good quality and certainly as good as some of the more pricey models. The TV is easy to set up, the on-screen menus are clear and easy to follow and, if you use the auto tuning facility you can be up and running in around 2 minutes. .... often short, sweet, informative, funny. the ipod video has the perfect sized screen for them they are 100% designed for the ipod video. its a shame the ipod doesnt come with mini speakers as sharing podcasts with friends is great. they are like "movie clips" that are on your mobile but alot better quality. The "xes" industry hasnt caught on yet but thats another topic.. Functionality : Audiobooks, music, video, photos, and accessories up the wazoo there isnt much an ipod cant do. What makes the ipod so successfull is everyone has something good to say about them. Its a mass market product and therefore has a huge commercial following. the accessory range for them is truly unreal again another topic. the ipod Video does actually have TV output capability but so far i havent managed to figure that part out. ...I have always been reluctant to go with the iPod because there were other portable media players with better, more-complex features and also the price. However, for christmas I recieved a 30GB iPod Video. Not wanting to put something useful to waste I read through the quick start guide and set it all up, it was really easy to use. After ripping all my CDs into iTunes (the computer-based media player that comes bundled with the iPod) it give me helpful on-screen prompts to help get everything sorted. A feature in iTunes I like is the album art feature, if you purchase a song from the internet it automatically places a picture of the album in the bottom left of iTunes and also copies it onto the iPod.
