Commercial breaks indeed
Review of 10 Worst Television Commercials by
Mel27
Advantages: Some of them at least aren't on anymore
Disadvantages: All of it - horrible adverts!
...Television Commercials. You could watch them if you get the chance, to see how bad they are but I wouldn't recommend it if you like your sanity....

My 10 worst TV ads
Review of 10 Worst Television Commercials by
argyle_dave
Advantages: One of my pet subjects
Disadvantages: Its another top 10 of..
...Firstly thanks to Caca.. for pointing out this category, top 10 worst ads. The ads on C4 tonight were nothing special, but a glass or two of white wine gets you remembering that for every “Peter Kay – John Smiths” there’s an “Ambassadors Party” of dross waiting out there. For all the brilliance of the late Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins in the Chinzano ads of the seventies, there’s the banality of the Chicken Tonite. So here goes my tribute to the top 10 TV commercials that just don’t do it for me. A heady mix of old and new, which send me screaming for the chunder bucket.
1 – Orange – The hard nosed businessman.
Where oh where did the agency drag up this sad, eighties retro, stereotype from? The basic premise is that “even the hard nosed businessman” can keep in touch with the office whilst he’s away on holiday...

Commercials.WHY?
Review of Top 10 Television Commercials by
cheesemouse99
Advantages: Publicise shops etc.,enjoying to watch
Disadvantages: completely pointless may aswell make up a new tv program made up of commercials
...Commercials, we see them every where not just on tele, Billboards, buses etc. Pointlessly taking up space and time in our lives advertising things hardly anyone cares about. However, on some rare occasions there are some that give you a chuckle and have a glimmer of hope that someone will be interested. Here are my top 10:
10.Fosters. I like the fosters advert when the aussie is going to get his hair cut and he goes through loads of hairstyles but then gets one and uses wax to make it stick out, then he goes to a beach party and uses his hair to keep it cool ' Nice one Trev' 'Yeah'
9.Strongbow. This agin is a good one , two men are standing in a pub with two pints of strongbow and suddenly they get transported to a whale, one guy is saying how strongbow gets your bitter and sweet taste buds while the other is trying to get out...

TV ...or not TV...? That is the Question !
Review of BBC - TV Licence by
jouk04
Advantages: Reasonable value for money
Disadvantages: Compulsory, and terrifying if you can't afford it !
...-increasing burden of adverts on commercial channels overwhelmingly frustrating.
The BBC provides 8 interactive TV channels, 10 radio networks, over 50 local TV and radio services and bbc.co.uk (see BBC channels). In January 2006 the BBC launched BBC jam, a free online learning service for 5 to 16 year olds, linked to key areas of the school curriculum..
BBC World Service is funded by Government grant and not your TV licence. Profits from separate BBC commercial services help to keep the licence fee low. -this is interesting because I have heard countless radio phone in programmes, with people saying that Johnny foreigners are getting FREE BBC at the license payers expense, this is not true…it is the taxpayer.
Each household's colour TV licence cost £10.54 every month in 2005/2006. On average this was how the BBC used your money
Television...

we'll be right back after the break
Review of 10 Worst Television Commercials by
mattyme1
Advantages: a good laugh and a great way for people not to buy your products
Disadvantages: far far far too many to list
...As i said in another opinion, the television (large box full of pictures) has revolutionised the way we live. But this happy box isn’t only filled with wonderful sources of information and laughter, news and drama, Oh no. It is controlled by a greater evil, an evil so horrifying, you will see it on most channels and it interrupts your television program. This awful power is known as... the television commercials! And this small bunch is some of the worst that you’ll see everyday.
Cadbury’s happiness
In the past few months, adverts with slightly scary animals have been used for chocolate. The main scene in all of the adverts is that someone is tempted to eat some chocolate, because an out of place robotic animal tells them to do so. Personally, if I had a large robotic cat under my bed, eating chocolate wouldn’t really be my...

HURRY, READ NOW, PAY NEXT YEAR
Review of 10 Worst Television Commercials by
ClangerWrangler
Advantages: Great fun to watch (once)
Disadvantages: May cause long term mental health problems if viewed in large doses.
..., and just about any advertising aimed at kids. But you won't find any of those here. Oh no. To me the words "10 Worst Television Commercials" conjure up the category of "Advertisements So Tragically Awful That We All Love Them Despite The Fact That We Contemplate Suicide Whenever They Appear....".
It's probably just me, but here, for your viewing pleasure, are my top ten. Enjoy. Or rather, don't........
10) Immac leg wax
Now the advert to which I'm referring no-longer exists, although it has been replaced by one almost as bad. This one was on a couple of years back, and I still laugh about it now (rocking back and forth twiddling his thumbs, Jonny gives a maniacal cackle. This continues for several minutes.....). Anyway, the offending advert to which I refer involved an attractive young female model, possibly Swedish, tall and blonde...

WinTV-PVR-Digital TV and video on your PC.
Review of Hauppauge WinTV PVR-USB by
blackbeard
Advantages: Ecellent picture quality & ease of use
Disadvantages: Bit pricy
...weekly, starting at 3:10am and finishing at 3:40, and did this with less hassle than setting my video.
Additionally there is Mpeg editing software provided, which allows you to easily cut and rejoin your recordings, such as for cutting out commercial adverts.
If that is too much effort for you, and you only want to watch your programmes at a later date, then you can just fast forward through the commercial break, and slow down or repeat your favourite moments..
Bear in mind though, in the UK, unless you are connected to cable TV, you still will only receive the standards channels such as BBC1 & 2, ITV, Channel 4 & 5, all be it with excellent picture quality.
This unit is not a digital TV box which will pick up the “freeview” digital channels. However, if that is what you are after, then there is another version from the same...

These are a few of my favourite things..NOT!
Review of 10 Worst Television Commercials by
greener2004
Advantages: Adverts let you know about stuff
Disadvantages: All of these ads are dire and unescapable
...straight to the point of: "Declan Swansey damaged his eyesight on a park slide. His parents phoned and got £10,000
compensation and Declan got special glasses. You can get compensation too if you phone blah blah blah." But it got boring after 2 or 3 weeks having to hear of Declan constantly. OK, so first time around people felt sorry for him. But who they felt sorry for after a few weeks was the TV channel for having to put up with it over and over.
8. Wrigley's Orbit Gum
This advert was banned after over 800 complaints but while it went on air, it was annoying. It was the one where the dog comes out of the man's mouth. The slogan was "Don't Have Dog Breath" or something. Having to put up with anyone in the room shouting "URRRGHHH!" simulatiniously made the advert equally annoying. Also, you were ambused by "Oh Oh! Have you seen the Orbit...

No Surprises
Review of Radiohead - 7 Television Commercials DVD by
scream4bruce
Advantages: Some videos can make for repeated viewing, good audio quality
Disadvantages: Lack of extras, would not watch all videos again
...With box art in the style of 'OK Computer', this is JUST a collection of seven music videos - songs from the 'The Bends' and 'OK Computer' era. First released on VHS format, there is nothing in the way of extras here, so NO SURPRISES on this DVD.
7 TELEVISION COMMERCIALS has a BBFC 12 rating, I imagine because of the 'Paranoid Android' video - an animated video by Magnus Carlsson's featuring Robin from his animated series of the same name. While I don't rate the video as highly as the song, at least this is the unedited version.
'Street Spirit (Fade Out)', shot in black and white, directed by Jonathan Glazer; what I like about this video is the use of slow motion techniques - my favourite scene is that of which Thom is able to smash several sheets of glass with a hammer whilst the shards of each are still going through the air...

Losing The Will To Live
Review of 10 Worst Television Commercials by
Volvagia
Advantages: Interrupt Rubbish Programs
Disadvantages: Everything
...Adverts are strange things. Sometimes they save you from watching another second of something utterly dire such as Coronation Street or whatever but most of the time they interrupt a perfectly good show. In this op, I will review the worst, most infuriating and downright annoying commercials of these last few years.
10: Tic Tacs
I’ve never really liked tic tacs. They’re kind of sweet, kind of minty but nothing special. So the adverts will have to be good to persuade me to buy them. But no. The people who make tic tacs had to come up with a completely untruthful, pointless and confusing advert. Two middle-aged blokes are on a train opposite a woman. One of the morons starts rolling his eyes at the woman, and as the train enters a tunnel, it makes a whooshing sound, just as the woman eats a tic tac. She leaves the compartment...
