Good Basic TV/DVD Player

Advantages: Great Value and Reasonable Picture
Disadvantages: Basic Sound.

...I was looking for a specific TV with DVD player in one to put in a bedroom to replace an old CRT that had given up on me. The TV has a good picture which can be adjusted as required. There are various modes, movie etc but they all seem a bit orange to me. The best way to set brightness and contrast is to do it manually to your own taste. Setting up channels is a matter of pressing three buttons so that is easy and the instruction manual is really simple to follow. All of the standard connections are on the back SCART, PC Etc The sound quality is basic but then for a cheap television that isn't a suprise.   DVD Player that can play DivX .avi files and more!

Advantages: Plays DivX AVI and MPEG files, Supports lots of formats, Looks good, Karaoke,
Disadvantages: DivX 3.11, 4.02 plays slightly slanted, cheap plasticy remote, Doesn't play some NTSC encoded files

...rate of 29.97fps do not play and are skipped. They were DivX 3 files but I've also tried re-encoding the files into Xvid but that didn't work. MPG files with a frame rate of 29.97 play fine though. Many of the files I tested were around 23.8fps but other files I've managed to play range from 19fps to 25fps (PAL). If you have an old TV without NTSC support, then video plays in black and white. You cannot set the player to play NTSC to resolve this as you can with other DVD players (including other cheap ones). -= Other =- This player has 2 microphone sockets, which not a lot of DVD players have. You can adjust the volume and amount of echo for this with controls at front of the player. I like the way they made the Volume and Echo dials. DVD player with a bad stutter

Advantages: Upconversion to 1080i, HDMI, DIVX Playback

Award winning DVD player

Advantages: Fantastic picture quality, fantastic audio quality, great value
Disadvantages: not exactly cheap, a bit chunky looking

One thing that is really cool is that if you pause the DVD and then it stops (you know how if they are on pause for too long they close down), when you restart you have the option of restarting from where you last paused, so you don't have to try and find the right bit all over again. That's great. I am so happy with this machine, I really wish we'd bought one earlier. Well worth it, if you have an HD TV. If you don't have a CD player, I think you could just have one of these wired up to speakers and do without a separate CD player - the quality is better than my CD player actually. You'll love this product....
