...Located on the outskirts of Stuttgart the Fernsehturm offers the best views in all of Stuttgart. For only 3? you can go to the top of this 150m high tower from where you can see the city of Stuttgart and surrounding area. There is also a reasonably priced café/bar, which is well worth sitting in and enjoying the view without the wind blowing you around. To make the experience better, get the U-Bahn 15 from the city centre and you travel up the hills seeing great views on an old style tram. This terminates at the tower and from there it's just a 5min walk. Alternatively, get the U-Bahn 7 which is quicker but less scenic. Get off at Waldau or Ruhbank station for the tower. Alton Towers With a Toddler

...Alton Towers with a Toddler I visited Alton towers yesterday and while this attraction has plenty for both grown ups and children I visited with my toddler son. I first visited Alton towers when I was a child myself and have experienced the big rollercoaster's such as Air and Nemesis but this visit was completely different so thought it would be useful to do a review of a family visit. ...Fawlty Towers is my favourite comedy and one of favourites in our home and also with most of my friends and family. It originally aired on BBC 1 in the 1970s It is a comedy made at the height of comedy in the 70s and is about a hotel - "Fawlty Towers" in Torquay. ...Alton Towers Over the summer my husband and I went over to Alton Towers for a few days for a break. For those who haven't heard of Alton Towers it's a large theme park with attractions and thrill rides. It cost £37(adult) and £28 (child) to get in. They do deals for example if you buy in advance online it costs £29.50 (adult) and £22.80. The park has several different sections offering various things to certain age groups. As you arrive into the park the entrance has lots of shops and an information desk. To the right you can go to Sharkbait Reed by Sealife which to be honest was rather small and disappointing for me. It had different types of tropical fish which you could look a. I thought it was more aimed at younger children. Beside it was a section, which had a pirates theme, which included a pirate show at certain times...

Faulty Tower

Advantages: Lots of stars in their hey-days, easy to follow plot
Disadvantages: Drags in some places and these days, seems really scary!

...This classic disaster film from 1974 is based on 2 novels - "The Tower" and "The Glass Inferno". The film works I think because we don't know who will survive except for that fact that Steve McQueen and Paul Newman will obviously get out! This film has been on TV numerous times and even in these days of real disaster, it's still an exciting film. It must have looked superb on the big screen. It's made by the same person who made "The Poseidon Adventure" - Irwin Allen. The basic plot of what I think is the ultimate disaster movie, centres around a fire in a multi-storey building. ...This past weekend we had an American colleague of ours come to London for the first time so my husband and I (we work at the same company) decided to take her around sightseeing and show her some of London. As we work quite near the Tower of London and both hadn't been here since we were kids we decided to make it our first port of call. The Tower of London is situated right on the River Thames in the borough district of Tower Hamlets with the closest tube station being Tower Hill on the Circle and District Line. It was built by William the Conqueror in 1078 originally intended as a Royal Palace. It was then used as a prison with a great number of very famous prisoners, mostly kings and queens of England and the various wives of Henry the 8th. This is where the phrase "sent to the tower" comes from in terms of being sent to prison...

Bed and breakfast in a Tower!

...We recently had a night away in Melksham, near Chippenham, to attend the wedding of family friends and - as is usual with these friends of ours - they booked us into a local bed and breakfast and then (as usual) paid for our stay! After a mind-numbingly terrible journey down the M6 and then the M5 that took the best part of four hours, I must admit, I was hoping this bed and breakfast would at least be comfortable. I'm going to start at the end of my stay in order to give some background to Sandridge Tower which the proprietor Mrs. Woodhouse kindly filled us in with after breakfast before we left. It's actually the last place in the world I would expect to have a webpage, but - using that - I learnt that it was built as a "folly" (ie. a building that is basically decorative but doesn't have any special purpose, if I understand the term...
