A brilliant TV / DVD for our bedroom

Advantages: Excellent picture and sound
Disadvantages: It's cheaper now than when we bought it!

...During the credit crunch Dave and I are buying one another presents for the house that we can both enjoy rather than more frivolous things such as my present from a couple of years ago of feeding tigers by hand! For example for our Christmas present to one another we bought a mirror for over the mantelpiece in the lounge at our cottage. Good Budget LCD TV/DVD

...Having got totally sick of watching widescreen programmes on a standard set with black lines at the top and bottom (thanks to Sky's letterbox setting) I decided to treat myself to a widescreen LCD TV. Having convinced my other half this was a good use of some of the kids inheritence I plumped for the AS TVD - 3119WS based on price and functions. The set comes as HD ready and includes a built-in DVD player. All the usual controls and functions that you would expect with either seperate TV or DVD machines are there (play, pause, volume, contrast etc) so no suprises. Setting up the machine was a cinch, straight out of the box and follow the included instructions and all the local and national channels were there. I was not expecting the bright blue glow from two LEDs on the DVD but I found that these can be turned off in the settings...

Good Basic TV/DVD Player

Advantages: Great Value and Reasonable Picture
Disadvantages: Basic Sound.

...I was looking for a specific TV with DVD player in one to put in a bedroom to replace an old CRT that had given up on me. The TV has a good picture which can be adjusted as required. There are various modes, movie etc but they all seem a bit orange to me. The best way to set brightness and contrast is to do it manually to your own taste. Setting up channels is a matter of pressing three buttons so that is easy and the instruction manual is really simple to follow. All of the standard connections are on the back SCART, PC Etc The sound quality is basic but then for a cheap television that isn't a suprise. Good performing TV/DVD combo

Advantages: reliability, picture quality, DVD player
Disadvantages: very poor remote control

...Our bedroom TV/DVD and it is an admirable performer. 4:3 aspect ratio CRT screen, teletext and remote control. It does what you would expect and does it well. Curry's own brand but completely reliable with a good picture. we use it with the indoor aerial it came with which is good enough to pick up a strong enough signal for a Freeview box. Just 1 Scart on the back but it does have AV and headphone connections on the front. The remote control is it's weak spot, it's too bulky and yet the controls are fiddly, especially the volume control which are two small buttons in the bottom third of the remote. the DVD controls double up with the teletext controls and are not logically laid out. ...We are very pleased with this TV / DVD combo. This was bought for a bedroom and runs off an indoor aerial, even so the picture and sound quality are excellent. The set was easy to set up and took just a matter of minures to auto tune the TV channels. The DVD part of the combo is easy to use, the DVD loads easily and produces great sound and picture quality. in addittion to playing DVD, DIVX, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-RW and Kodak picture discs can also be played. This set can also be linked directly to a PC, being very untechnical I haven't done this but I thought it was a good additional feature. The set also has teletext. Just a couple of disadvantages The first is that the user guide is not a step by step guide - which is what we needed in using the DVD facilities. ...Before I start the review, this is not going to be an overly technical review - just a straightforward assessment of a budget TV which has got one very useful feature!
