Tweed Shows No Mercy
Advantages: Good enjoyable story, with likeable characters
Disadvantages: A little bit of miss placed story telling
...Having recently finished reading my first Forbes novel I was keen to follow it up with another. So after Target 5 I spotted No Mercy in Smith?s as part of a buy one get one free offer and thought it might be worth a read. I hadn?t realised that No Mercy was the latest in a long running series following the adventures of Tweed and his team. In fact I never realised until I?d finished the book and there was no way you could tell from reading it.
When the Superintendent of the police finds a man sat on the steps of White Hall he seems a little confused. The man only seems to know three words, ?I Witnessed murder?..?. Superintendent Buchanan names him Michael and hands him and the case over to the head of the SIS, Tweed. After a few hours with Michael?s psychiatrists Tweed decides to take Michael on a route he seems to have etched in his...

Berwick Upon Tweed
Advantages: A pleasent and friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not much to do
...Berwick, North England, at the mouth of the Tweed River. The district includes the Holy Islands and the Farne Islands and extends SW to the Cheviot Hills. The town of Berwick, located in the district, is a market town and seaport, famous for its salmon fishing. Grain is the chief export; oil and timber are imported. Industries include shipbuilding, engineering, sawmilling, fertilizer production, and the manufacture of tweed and hosiery. The principal border town between Scotland and England, Berwick changed hands more than 13 times between 1147 and 1482, when Edward IV finally claimed it for England. It did not become officially English until 1885. Many still question wether Berwick is English or Scottish, it is English.
I have visted Berwick now 5 times most of them being 1-2 week durations and am returning at christmas time this...

Yes its quick but its not worth it... seriously
Advantages: Is fast food so will fill you up if your in a hurry
Disadvantages: Poor service, cleanliness, toilets and just not a very nice place to go!
...**What Is It?**
McDonalds is a worldwide fast food chain. This one has been open since 1991.The restraunt i am reviewing is the one in Berwick-Upon-Tweed. It is open from 7AM to 12AM and offers meals from Breakfast to snacks.
**Where Is It?**
For people who do not know where Berwick is it is a famous historical town just next to the Scottish Border. It used to be in Scotland but the english took over! Anyway this McDonalds is placed right next to a Morrisons supermarket (where we get our weekly shopping!) and directly below a Travelodge. This is actually on the A1 and is one of the direct routes to Edinburgh from somewhere like Newcastle, London etc. It is more on the outskirts of town but is generally said to be in Berwick. It is sign posted but it's not that hard to find.
**Look of Restraunt**
It is a big brick building...

Fast Food.....Fat Chance
Advantages: Cheaper than some places
Disadvantages: Bad for you, staff unhelpfull, not fast, decor makes you want to throw up, the food is not the best in the world.
...Firstly let me say that I do not usually eat in McDonalds. This is not because I have a problem with big business or the killing of innocent animals (as it happens I have a real aversion to cows and I think that they deserve everything that they get) I just do not really like their food. So McDonalds was not my first choice for a breakfast venue. The thing was that I had no choice.
There were four of us in a car on our way from Edinburgh to Middlesbrough to visit my girlfriend’s mother. We left at 9am and after an hour and a half on the thoroughly exciting (well it is if my friend is driving, or should that be scary) A1, and all having skipped breakfast that morning, we decided that we should stop for some food. Then as we came to Berwick-upon-Tweed we saw the Golden Arches of McDonalds.
In we wander at 10.15am. Breakfast...

State Police, Secret Police And Boredom
Advantages: The Beginning is reasonably good
Disadvantages: Poor plot after the start, poor characterisation and a rushed ending
...Three junior Cabinet Ministers have made it their goal to create a new Police State within Britain and join all of the major law enforcement services together. In total opposition to the new plans is the head of the British SIS police force Tweed. Whilst trying to thwart the 3 Minister, Tweed and his assistant Paula Grey have been tasked with investigating the brutal murder of society beauty Viola Vander-Browne. Can Tweed stop the formation of this new organisation and prevent another murder?
I've read quite a few of Colin Forbes previous novels and so I thought I knew what to expect from Blood Storm. In my experience I'd found his books had held my attention and entertained, even if the plot was a little obvious. This time though I found myself finishing the last of the 381 pages and thinking thank god for that. There was something...

Sorry, My Mistake!
Advantages: A funny and accessable light read
Disadvantages: Accuracy of accounts is debatable
...Much like 'The Worlds Greatest Blunders', 'The World's Greatest Mistakes' is a collection of tales of folly and downright bad luck, and includes stories of misguided business moves (a team of experts who dismissed one of the world's richest gem fields in South Africa as containing nothing more that dried ostrich droppings), ill-fated voyages (the Titanic, Baron Von Richthoven's ill-fated last flight), Military errors (Custer's last stand, the famous charge of the light brigade, the decision of American military officials to ignore warnings that an attack on Peal Harbour was immanent) and beurocratic errors, such as the one that left the English/Scottish border town of Berwick upon tweed officially at war with Russia for over a hundred years)
There are also simple errors of judgement, such as the case of two shipwrecked sailors adrift...

Don't judge a book by it's cover, it shall haunt you to the end!
Advantages: really good book
Disadvantages: rubbish cover!
...long-running series of thrillers that included Tweed and Co. This was the first book he wrote about Tweed and Co. However it isn't in a series in which you have to read them in order, as it doesn't have any link to each book!
This is the first book Colin Forbes Published under Tweed and Co. and I'm pretty sure that there is no series, as this book just pushed you right into it and you knew nothing about the character but you felt as if you were their friend IMMEDIATELY!
The book is about the top four western leaders who are to meet the Soviet premier in Vienna. Problem is, is that they don't like flying so train it is to be. The big problem is, is that a English secret agent has just been killed on the lake, and now Martel has to step in and find out who killed the secret agent, while also protecting the four western leaders! There...

Review of Double Jeopardy - Colin Forbes
|
Operation Crocodile
Advantages: Addictive Story and interesting characters
Disadvantages: A little over desciptive at times
...Having got back into Forbes writing I decided to read another of his earlier books in the guise of Double Jeopardy. This is one of the first books where Forbes brings the character of Tweed and his British Secret Agency. I've found the more recent Tweed books to be a tad predictable although entertaining. I recently finished another of the early Tweed novels and found that I really enjoyed Terminal as it twisted and turned and always had a surprise in store that was thoroughly unexpected. It was with this in mind that I picked up Double Jeopardy.
When a British Secret agent is found murdered on a boat in the middle of Lake Konstanz, Tweed must react quickly to find out the cause. He sends Keith Martel to pick up the investigation and find out why Warner was murdered. In doing so he discovers a plot by a Neo Nazi group to kill one...
