Tweenies Book

Advantages: children will enjoy it
Disadvantages: none unless your child wants you to read it about 10 times a day

...I got this book from a book club for my eldest and now my youngest likes to look at it. It's a hard back book with each page inside being double thin card so that the pull out pictures are fitted in the middle of them. The book is called 'Come Back Colours' because Doodles (The red dog) has lost its colour and so have all the Tweenies toys. The front cover has a picture of the youngest Tweenie Jake and the colourless Doodles, when you open the book you see a picture of the other Tweenies (Milo, Bella and Fizz) on the opposite page is Jake with his special cape opening his arms to the colourless Doodles. The story starts ' One day, Jake put on his special coloured cape.' His job was to look after the colours but where have Doodles colours gone? Jake comes to the rescue waves his arms and says 'Colours come and colours go...

Teriffic Tweenies

Advantages: Very well made toys
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...If you don't recognise the names Bella, Fizz, Milo, Jake and Doodles then you haven't spoken to a 3,4 or 5 year old recently. The Tweenies are four cute but alien looking children who go to a childminder and are looked after by Max and Judy. Doodles is the dog. Bella is the eldest child and is bossy and likes dressing up. Fizz is Bella's best friend and likes dancing. Milo is the joker of the bunch and best friends with Jake who pretends to be a super hero called Spotman. To buy a soft Tweenie doll you would normally pay £14.99 in most places but I have seen them in Tesco's for £12.99. Now Argos are selling a new type which are poseable Pop Star Tweenies, they are 28cms high and cost £12.99 each and are dressed in shiny outfits. ...Everyone seems to begin their reviews with some comparison against the Teletubbies or some criticism. I'm not intending to do this, as these two programmes are clearly aimed at different audiences. The Tweenies is aimed at children from about two years old, as the language is fairly complex and that is also the starting age of the children featured in this show (well, not 'real' children actually, but...). They are Jake, who's almost three. Jake has problems with his speech and it's great that they have a character like this as it teaches children not to have prejudices. Jake's best friend is Milo, who's more like his brother really, as he's four years old. He tends to have a short attention span and prefer messing around in the garden and playing with toys to reading a book. Fizz is next. She's three years old and is obsessed...

...My son who is four years old is a big fan of the Tweenies and is always very happy when I return from the shops with a copy of the Tweenies magazine. If there is anyone out there who doesn't know who the Tweenies are, they are a group of four year old characters named Milo, Bella, Jake and Fizz.They belong to the same nursery group, They are supervised by two grown up characters called Max and Judy who help them out doing different activities during there stay at the Tweenie Nursery. There is also two dogs called Doodles and Izzles who are pets at the nursery. Not only does my son enjoy the programme but he also enjoys looking at the magazine and enjoys doing all the puzzles and enjoys getting the free gift, which is usually stuck on the front of the magazine. After being driven mad by the ridiculous voices of the teletubbies and the repetitive storylines I was dreading having to sit through a similar programme. HOWEVER! ...Hey hey are you ready to play? Well no, I'm not actually, not with you overgrown, overpadded twerps anyway. Welcome to the world of the Tweenies and welcome to a world of insanity... The Tweenies are one of my children's favourite television programmes, I am still at a loss as to why. I sit there most days watching them, wondering what on earth they see in it and nothing, I still don't know. But hey, if the kids like it then I'm not arguing, after all it means I get to spend more time on here, sneaky eh? Trouble is I now know EVERYTHING you could possibly know about the Tweenies, except perhaps whether or not Max is actually sleeping with Judy, though I have my suspicions. ~~The characters~~ MAX Max is the old guy with grey hair. ...Tweenies is one of the most popular TV programmes for pre-schoolers. It is ideal for children aged between two and six years old, as it is fun, but also educational. My five year old daughter loves this, but then, so does my eight year old! I’ll also admit, it’s one of my favourite kids’ programme too. Not surprisingly, the programme has branched off into a wide variety of merchandise, but thankfully, it seems to be of a very high quality, albeit rather expensive. Besides the soft toys described below, you can also buy a Tweenies scooter, tricycle, electronic playset, magazine, clothes, books, videos, cutlery and much more.
