Wyrd Sisters
Review of Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters by
Soho_Black
Advantages: Covers most musical genres in one album
Disadvantages: Pink Floyd fans don't seem to like it...
...I have absolutely no idea why I like the Scissor Sisters. I just do. There’s no rational explanation for my feeling this way, it just happened. Generally, it’s not often I find myself in agreement with the music press. Generally in the last few years, I’ve found disliking bands that music magazines have heaped praise upon. I’ve never been entirely sure whether it’s me that’s out of touch, or them.
I have frequently, if sporadically, enjoyed the Scissor Sisters, though. The singles I’d heard seemed like a lot of fun, with a kind of retro feel and some quirky lyrics that make listening a real pleasure, although not quite making a purchase essential. That was until one day in HMV, where I was almost assaulted by the sound from the shop’s speakers. “What’s this playing”, I asked one of the staff. “It’s the Scissor Sisters, I...

Marymoose goes round the twist!
Review of Round The Twist - Series 2 DVD by
marymoose99
Advantages: Classic Australian Kid's TV which still amuses me now!
Disadvantages: Might not appeal as much to those who didn't watch it originally.
... (Richard Moir - as in series 1) - the father of family, and an artist.
Fay James/Twist (Robyn Gibbes - as in series 1) - Bronson's school teacher and Tony's girlfriend/wife
Pete (Ben Thomas) - Oldest child (13), and Linda's twin.
Linda (Joelene Crnogorac) - Pete's twin sister.
Bronson (Jeffrey Walker) - the youngest child (8). He's not happy about his dad's relationship with Fay, and he never washes his feet.
Fiona (Zeta Briggs) - Linda's best friend and sometimes dates Pete.
Harold Gribble (Mark Mitchell) - Local councillor, standing for election as senate. Doesn't like the Twists and wants the land the lighthouse is on.
Matron Gribble (Jan Friedl) - Harold's wife, also a nurse.
James Gribble (Richard Young) - son of Harold, and ringleader in any bullying.
Rabbit...

Is it right? Jodi Picoults- My sister's keeper
Review of My sisters keeper - Jodi Picoult by
DixieChick10
Advantages: Good writing, alright storyline.
Disadvantages: Is it really right to do that 2 a child?
...you think is it right to deny your parents the right to your body because it'll save your sister's life?
Hope this helped.
Kirsty.xxxx
SPOILER
The fact that Anna dies at the end and gives her bone marrow to save her sister is horrible in my opinion. It's like God killed her because Kate was more important. I'm not religious myself and I don't think Jodi Picoult was meaning to write it like that but in my opinion I think it should have been the other way around. Anna should have survived.
You do sorta develop an affection for Anna, you feel sorry for her and what she's had to do her whole life, just because of her sister. The twist at the end is really good though, the fact that Kate asked Anna to help kill her really changed the whole story, and I think if Kate had died...

Scissor Sisters are us.
Review of Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters by
bettyboouk
Advantages: Wonderful and suberb tracks
Disadvantages: There aren't any
..., funky pianos make up the muscle of this track.
Better LuckI give his 2 stars
I find this quite medioce - nothing special and quite run of the mill. A iller track I think...
It Can't Come Quickly Enough I give this 1.5 star
This doesn't do anything to inspire my love of the Scissor Sisters music. another track for the FF button
Return to Oz I give this 2 stars
This is quite Irish Folk style, ok'ish if you like that kind of msic. I would prefer the FF button.
Message From Ms. Matronic - interesting twist
This is a message from Ana Matronic, she tells me that I have just finished listening to their debut album and she hopes we have enjoyed it. She tells me that I can either start playing the album agin or listen to the bonus tracks.
Bonus Tracks
The Skins I give this 4 stars
Excellent track, great beat and really...

Altogether such devoted sisters... err no!
Review of Hannah And Her Sisters DVD by
Timbo3107
Advantages: One of Woody Allen's best films.
Disadvantages: You will need a hanky ready!
.............................................. Hannah
Barbara Hershey................................ Lee
Dianne Weist ..................................... Holly
Michael Caine .................................... Elliott
Carrie Fisher .......................................April
Max Von Sydow .................................. Frederick
Woody Allen ........................................ Mickey Sachs
---Overall---
With Thanksgiving as a central focus of the story, this is where all the characters meet. This story follows the three sisters through there twists and turns of life, it also shows what each sister is up against and how issues are dealt with, either in the right or in some cases in the story the wrong way.
To be honest the story begins at a snails pace but as the story unfolds which does get complicated at times based upon the various twist and turns that take...

The fantasy and reality of the Scissor Sisters
Review of Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters by
leannerobotham
Advantages: Each song has a unique meaning
Disadvantages: Not to everyones taste
..., the lyrics have meaning to each and every individual, for everyone they represent different things, personally I felt good emotions and happy times all round.
The Scissor Sisters are a unique band which take there music from a number of genres, such as 70’s rock and 80’s pop as well as a twist of realism and a hip, different but classic image.
**Album Cover**
The album cover shows a lady in a flowing white dress, which gives the image of purity and innocence, she starts of in a fantasy land with bright green fantasy growing trees, a perfect clean pathway with two yellow lines that draw your eye to the image of the girl. Because you cannot see her face you can perhaps see yourself as the girl wandering in a fantasy land and ready to delve back into reality. This depiction of fantasy is the kind of the place you would want to visit in your...

Wyrd Sisters Indeed...
Review of Wyrd Sisters - Terry Pratchett by
wyrdsister
Advantages: Witches, ghosts and thespians.
Disadvantages: You'll either love it or hate it...
..., Pratchett is careful to use well know quotes and plot devices, notably from the Scottish play and Hamlet, to convey the playful parables to the reader. The story of Wyrd Sisters does not mirror either plays and the Shakespearian allusions are more of a clin d’oeuil at the reader. On the other hand, Pratchett may be hinting at the reality created by theatre, and how it can twist history, create its own truths. After all, the battle of Agincourt is better remembered in the words of Shakespeare than those of historians.
What is consistent with Pratchett earlier works is the depth and originality of the characters he creates. Here Pratchett draws also on folklore, adding his trademark Discworld seasoning, whilst carefully treading the line between archetype and caricature. Pratchett always treats his characters in this manner, which make...

You can Kid the World. But not your Sister...
Review of My sisters keeper - Jodi Picoult by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Unputdownable, Thought provoking.
Disadvantages: None
..."My Sister's Keeper", written by Jodi Picoult could, at first glance from its cover, easily be mistaken for another title in the vein of many of the shocking true life accounts of child cruelty that are currently sweeping the bookshelves of both the UK and USA. The reality is that this book is the 11th title by the author Picoult, and is an (excellent) work of modern day fiction, but yet one which ultimately forces the reader to think about the consequences of modern medicine and the harsh reality of what can only be the toughest decisions facing any parent.
Picoult herself is an author I have never previously come across, despite the fact she has been writing similar fiction novels for at least the last 13 years. "My Sister's Keeper" was first published in 2004, and the fact that it is currently ranked 15th in Amazon's top seller...

My Sisters keeper; a touching and beautiful book!
Review of My sisters keeper - Jodi Picoult by
LGPSG
Advantages: Touching, controversial, captivating.
Disadvantages: Leaping between time and characters can be confusing at first
...My Sisters Keeper
"My Sisters Keeper" by Jodi Picoult tackles controversial ethical issues in this touching and perceptive novel, telling the not-so-normal story of an American family, the Fitzgerald's. On the cover it seems to be an average book, an overrated bestseller, just another chick-lit to read on the bus or the tube, maybe on a beach somewhere. But under the surface it tells a heart-wrenching story full of moral dilemmas, unanswerable questions and bizarre twists; one of those rare and thought-provoking finds which draws you into the plot and forces you to feel the narrative, not just read it.
Anna was conceived by IVF in a desperate attempt to rescue her elder sister, Kate, from leukemia. Yet the stem cells from her umbilical cord weren't quite enough, and now, thirteen years...

The Original Soul Sisters
Review of I'm A Good Woman Vol.1 (Funk Classics From Sassy Soul Sisters) - Various Artists by
waynehorrigan
Advantages: Soulful, genuine, funky, rare
Disadvantages: None
...Subtitled “funk classics from sassy soul sisters” this album’s sentiment may have it’s heart in the right place, but it fails to describe the full picture here. These women are sexually, emotionally and vocally aggressive, leaving their men in no doubt as to who wears the trousers in their respective relationships. Each track here oozes raw sexuality, whether the role of the singer is that of a bored housewife (“Crumbs Off the Table”) or as sexual predator (“Your Thing Ain’t No Good Without My Thing”). The titles alone are sheer class.
Culled from the dusty vaults of Warner Bros’ legendary, bottomless soul archives this is an album of twelve virtually unknown tracks from between 1968 and 1974 performed by fourteen virtually unknown artists (honourable exception: Gladys...
