*Please keep in lane - Banks super high-wage*
Review of What Do You Want From Your Bank? by
1st2thebar
Advantages: They are liable to many discrepancies and can be sued
Disadvantages: Delving into your money pot regulary
...Please keep in lane…… Banks super High wage > …
We all like honesty -- Honesty I here you cry; whats that? - (clear throat) We all want to know what is going on especially with your hard earned cash. We all want a fair warning with bank interest rate rises. We all want more control with our finances. I don't ask for much do I? Most of us don't know where our money goes -- We are too busy to run-around down blind alleys of Call Centres, ideal for those of you wanting early coronaries. It is understandable that bank call centres are obviously not there to help, they are there to pad-out their own profits on 0845 Premium call rates.
The Bank Association is planning to introduce a monthly fee for those individuals who are paying wages into their account at below £1000.00 a month; the 21st century could introduce the 'cash...

Banks are Killing Writers and Small Traders
Review of What Do You Want From Your Bank? by
WhiteWitch
Advantages: Isn't it about time we told the banks what we want rather then them telling us? As a bank, wouldn't you prefer to know what the customer really wanted then merely guessing?
Disadvantages: The bank who listened to its customers could end up as a monopoly, unless of course other banks listened too.
...UPDATE: Although Abbey National is still a long way from offering the sort of services detailed in this article, they are probably the best bank I have yet seen for smaller Internet businesses, artists and particularly Internet starters.
They offer FREE business accounts, an unusual thing in this day and age, when all businesses are deemed ripe plums for the picking. The free banking if offered admittedly within very tight limits and there is a small deposit to open the account.
For further details, check out this web address:
http://www.anbusinessbank.co.uk/html/accounts/chequeaccountstables.html#indefiniteFreeBanking
I have joined them, so look out for future opinions on this service, and let's hope they have the foresight to go one step further by reading this article and providing the sort of service we are asking...

Unjust Banking Practices
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland by
rehmankhan
Advantages: Local Bank with Prompt dealing
Disadvantages: Inconsiderate towards Customer's needs
...I was a current account holder with the Royal Bank of Scotland since the past six-and-a-half years. During this period I have always abided by the banking laws, have never defaulted on any account and possess a clean / ideal credit-rating with all credit scoring agencies of Britain.
I have been selling a few household gadgets over the internet. During this course, I was victimised by fraudsters who sent me fake cheques as payment of goods they were purchasing from me. I deposited the cheques in my account to find that they were fake cheques issued by cheaters. As a result my bank account was frozen and I was asked to explain as to where did I get the cheques from. This happened thrice in a span of a year. Every time I cooperated with the bank by supplying their investigating team a complete set of e-mails exchanged between me...

BANKING ALL NIGHT LONG
Review of Barclays Bank by
LostWitness
Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: See review
...I have banked with Barclays since I became old enough to have a bank account. I often read press articles that "tell" us that the great British public suffers from terrible inertia when it comes to changing their bank account, and that over 75% of us never do. I don't suffer from inertia. I like my bank, and have absolutely no reason to change accounts whatsoever. I often read the scurrilous tales of fees charged for bouncing cheques, which criticise the way banks, operate. Let me clarify one thing. I don't believe that Barclays is any more sympathetic than its competitors but I never personally put them to the test because I don't go overdrawn. It's also worth remembering that your banking history is part of your credit scoring. The longer you have an account, the better your rating is.
My first Barclays account was a Barclays Plus...

LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE VIRTUAL BANK
Review of Member Advice on Internet Banking by
LostWitness
Advantages: Convenience, versatility
Disadvantages: Not fully developed yet, Lots of hype
...One of the key principles of the Internet age surely has to be the emphasis on the value that this medium adds to our lives. Whilst we all use the Internet extensively for pleasure, I also think it is important that everyone tries to take advantage of the many cost and time saving innovations that are going on out there. Let’s face it, money is one of the most important things to us all – managing your money can be stressful and time-consuming, and the high street banks have seldom done anything to help with this stress.
That’s why I think Internet banking is such a worthwhile concept. The ability to make payments, control accounts and carry out business from your own home, via your own PC was always one of the greatest attractions of the Internet as far as I was concerned. I have therefore done my best to embrace...

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND INTERNET BANKING
Review of Member Advice on Internet Banking by
fixit
Advantages: clear organisation of site instruction
Disadvantages: Time allocation for transactions and poor layout of the local RSB Branch
...I have been with the bank a few years but since 2001, it was suggested to me, that the internet banking service would assist me greatly, given that my various medical problems restrict visits to the bank. These visits are restricted due to the layout of the Denton Branch in Greater Manchester. There is no hand rail to assist access to the building, when in the banking hall, seating is sparce if there are a number of people in the queue and you are lucky enough to get a chair, you have to arrange with the person nearerst to you. However, the customer hall is much smaller than the more than adequate floor space for all the banking staff in their banking hall. Lets hope in attempting to redress potential discrimination for those customers with disabilities they will find an improvement, I shall not then be a customer thankfully...

Happy Banking
Review of Royal Bank of Scotland by
carol_uk
Advantages: Respectable company
Disadvantages: Not always competitive
...I currently am an account holder with The Royal Bank Of Scotland. (RBS)
I am happy overall with the way in which they help me handle my account, and I have no hesitations in recommending the RBS to anyone else.
My Account
----------
I currently have a Route 21 Account, which is for people aged between 16-21.
This is normally a very popular account with students, as when you are in this account, you are entitled to many offers, ie free entry into loads of top clubs in the UK.
With the Route 21 Account, I can have a switch card, credit card, cheque book, and all the usual facilities, (as long as you are over the age of 18)however, with a normal bank account, I would not receive the special deals for clubs etc.
The Royal Bank Of Scotland
---------------------------
I think this is a great bank...

You can Bank on good food at Die Bank
Review of Die Bank Brasserie, Bar & Restaurant, Hamburg by
koshkha
Advantages: Great food, spectacular surroundings
Disadvantages: Not cheap
...On my latest trip to Hamburg I asked my boss if I should arrange a team night out and he said 'Sure, just don't pick anything too expensive'. Fortunately before I could scout around for something reasonably priced, another colleague stepped in and booked Die Bank and invited me along. Having been warned to watch the pennies, this wasn't a place I'd have dared book - so hoorah for Laurent who booked it regardless. We set off in two taxis - two Brits, two Americans and three French.
Die Bank is in the centre of Hamburg on Hohe Bleichen, and, as the name would suggest, it used to be a bank. Not your grotty little suburban sub-branch though; this was a grand city bank. From the outside there's little clue of what's inside, just a big doorway onto a lobby with a beautiful mosaic floor and a grand staircase. Once upstairs you enter Die Bank...
