What exactly is a modem

Best Modem

Advantages: reliable
Disadvantages: None

...What an excellent modem, it is reliable and practical. I recently acquired the 3COM US Robotics 56K Modem as a gift and it is quite some present. Being an external unit it is easy to transfer it between machines, my laptop or desktop, this has saved me the necessity of buying 2 modems. The software with it is adequate to run your computer as a fax machine but is a little limited. Connection speeds vary from service provider to service provider but the 3Com seems compatible with all ISP's I have tried, previous modems have disconnected spontaniously from some ISP's, this modem however seems able to cope well with drop out or poor line gain. Neat and compact in appearance this modem requires an external power source so you'll need an available 13am socket. A good all round modem, not too costly....

Riveting Robots?

Advantages: Fun film with a strong voice cast and good animation
Disadvantages: In the face of stronge competition, it doesn't quite match up

.... However, if you have seen those and are looking for a bit of fun, this is it. Robin Williams steals the show as Fender, the street smart robot who takes Rodney under his wing. Ewan McGregor lends his voice to Rodney and a host of big names from both sides of the pond take on smaller roles. It's quite fun to watch the film and then afterwards see how many you were able to guess correctly. The animation is fun and consistent in this film. There are some great sequences such as Rodney's first trip on the city's transportation system or when Rodney and Fender find themselves in the scrap yard. The juxtaposition of the old, nuts and bolts robots with the shiny futuristic robots keeps your interest. It also goes to show that you can't judge a robot by its upgrades as the line between goodie and baddie cannot be drawn based on the appearance...

Internal or external

Advantages: Faster than an internal winmodem. Audible dialup.
Disadvantages: Requires spare serial port and power socket.

...When buying a modem should you go internal or external. With most PC's this question is already answered as they are equipped with an internal modem. Most internal modems are known as winmodems because they are driven by windows drivers and eat up a small percentage of CPU time to make them work. An external modem, on the other hand, has it's own memory and processor and doesn't use precious CPU cycles. Because an internal winmodem uses the processor it will not perform as well as an external modem. I recently changed from a winmodem connecting at 46,667bps to US Robotics 56K Faxmodem that continually connects at 49,333bps. Nothing else has changed. The telephone line is exactly the same line used by the winmodem (which now sits in another machine). When considering buying a modem you should also consider ease of installation...

The U.S Camouflaged Navy Seals!

Advantages: Life like, great fun online with loads of guns.
Disadvantages: Not great for offline users only.

...beats many other games, the explosions stand out as great along with the fresh movement flow of the water when running or swimming through it. The cut-scenes though out the single player is of a slightly better quality and is nice to watch of which is small amount to see. SOUND/MUSIC For the music and voices through the game what of it, is good from your team giving and taking orders sounds clear and natural. The actual sound is top notice, from each guns sounding different with its own unique fire, with the low humming noise of the jeeps and tanks. Deafening load bangs from cannon and grenades blowing up makes it feeling like a real war atmosphere. Although not cool to your health when the grenades explodes near you it gives you a deafen effect with the sound slowly blurring back to normal. Other small things adds to the game like...

...When we bought this modem we knew absolutely nothing about modems, the internet or anything vaguely super-highway-ish! We were just recommended in the shop and so we got it. We have never looked back! So many of my friends have internal modems in their PCs and they have nothing but trouble but, I have to say, our external has never given us the slightest bit! It does pretty much everything a modem should, as well as coping with voice/fax machine function. It is also V90 compatible so shouldn't need to be upgraded/replaced for some time. I always have a good connection speed and it's never needed anything fixing on it Good buy!...

This science fiction story is set in 2035, where robots have become common place in homes, being used for menial tasks. When a scientist at U.S. Robotics, Dr Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), falls to his death, the investigating detective, Del Spooner (Will Smith), suspects that one of the robots, Sonny (Alan Tudyk), may be to blame. However the robots live by three laws which prevent them from harming humans, so if Sonny was to blame then this could mean a serious flaw in the many robots in people?s homes. Robot Boy

...Robot Boy is a Cartoon showed regularly on Cartoon Network. It has only been created in the last two years and in my opinion someone should sort this program out. Tommy is a 10 year old boy, and Robotboy's new owner,Professor Moshimo has entrusted him to his greatest fan tommy ,so that Robot Boy can learn to become like a real boy. Tommy is an intellegent young boy who is constantly trying to teach Robot Boy right from wrong,also has an older brother, a bully by the name of Donnie.
