...The Toshiba Libretto U100 is a sub-notebook, similar to Fujitsu's Lifebook or the trendy OQO. It packs a full-featured PC into a very small package. In this case: a Pentium M 1.2Ghz with 512MB RAM, 60GB HD and a 7.2" widescreen running Windows XP Home. I purchased my Libretto about a month ago in preparation for traveling to a conference. A local big box store had them on clearance, including the optional dock. The dock adds a DVD multi-recorder. Maximum power combined with maximum portability were my primary considerations in purchasing a new notebook, and I have been pleased with the Libretto. Its a unique machine, however, and not without issues relating to its novelty. ...and it takes pictures of equal quality so don't get to excited about the camera. The video quality is average YouTube video quality. Hardly worth watching. The keypad on the U100 takes some getting used to. I'm not fluent on it yet so I can't really judge it. The call clarity is great. The reception is great. The "loudspeaker" isn't very loud. To be honest, I bought this phone because of it's novelty factor and it hasn't disappointed. It's great fun. I will keep my Nokia smart phone for daytime use and take this one out at night. It's perfect for when you don't want to carry a phone around, but have to. In summary, I would say grab one if you can but don't expect it to replace your smart phone. The unit sells for around £40 in most high street stores, which is very competitive for such a device and I have found that when used with a Belkin Network Card (although others work well), the device matches the quality that you'd expect from a high-end Wireless Access Point.
