...The first thing that strikes you about this album is the way in which it is set out. The cover has a simple, yet bold design containing many of the 'urban' images which are often connected with garage music. The inside cover contains more of these urban images and a little introduction into the world of garage music, helping people to understand it's underground nature. Another thing that strikes you about this album is the very high content by Artful Dodger. Despite the album being mixed by Artful Dodger, it is not 'their' album. The 4 songs within it by Artful Dodger though, are very good and make up for this inbalance. The songs on the album are excellent, showing the diversity of garage music, ranging from commercially released tunes to the more underground. There is even more diversity, from slow vocal tunes... ...Your car needs a service and MOT and maybe the odd repair and you can't find a garage that you can trust? You've heard so many tales about cowboy garages who tell you that you need a new "whatsit" when in fact you either don't or they say you do just to get more money off you. Incompetent or rogue mechanics are your recurring nightmare as you search the yellow pages. The best way to find a good garage is to ask for recommendations from friends that you can trust. The drunk in the pub saying, "Go to Joe's" is not to be trusted. That guy who lives just down the road from you who never tinkers with his car which at 10 years old seems to keep going on and on is the bloke to ask. Even if you don't know the person, knock on his door and ask where he gets his car serviced. You could even make a new friend... Read review

...'s opinion that the tracking had never been checked since the car was made, due to the fact he had to blow-torch the tracking nut to get it off, and there were none of the tell-tale scuff-marks on the nut where it would have been gripped with a spanner or wrench. I could go on. I've been to so many garages and I've finally found one I can trust. That garage is One-Stop at Brampton, South Yorkshire. Along the way I've been told by other garages that my exhaust system will need replacing within two months, when in fact it's been fine for two YEARS, bought a car from DM Barnett's dealership at Wath-on-Dearne without knowing that the ECU was wrecked and would need replacing within months. Garages tell you that things need fixing when they don't. That's the bottom line. I've even known a garage be taken to court, due to a mechanic telling... Read review

...I found this place 15 years ago, when I had a clapped-ourt little Renault 5, and it speaks volumes (given my volatile attitude towards poor service) that I still take my car, my wife's car and my work-colleagues' cars there. This small independent garage has always shown courteous behaviour towards me and my wife, given us fair estimates and good service. Booking in is at our convenience, with the facility to leave the car at the garage for work to be done whilst we are on holiday. This avoids the problem of being without the car ahilst needing it, or finding somewhere to safely store it. We feel comfortable leaving the car with the garage, for e.g. an MOT, or routine service, with instructions to 'do the necessary', and arrive back to find the job done, and the bill reasonable. There are several issues that I think the producers could have done better in ensuring a much more enjoyable film that couldn't just solely be enjoyed for the age 15 certificate. There was a real lack of any real plot development which actually linked back to the hazards and triumphs of the music industry. Having said that, some of the characters did go through some significant changes throughout the movie, in particular Joe, Kate and Freddy but because of the age certificate and primary genre of romcom... ...I had an experience with a BMW garage recently. I put my 7 year old 318i in for an inspection 2 service which is the full monty of servicing. At the time they had a deal on and it was 249 pounds because the car was over 4 years old. Two hours after taking the car in they called me up and informed me that all the brakes were badly lipped and scored and that it was DANGEROUS to drive. They even put this on the service sheet afterwards. I asked how much to repair them, they said 450 pounds to replace the lot. Well, as I was going on holiday two days later I could not afford it. Luckily for me i'm in the motor trade and took the car to a friend to check the brakes, he said there was nothing wrong with them at all, at least another 6 months of wear left on them. Advantages: Todd Edwards on the mix

...If you like garage music or indeed the producer Todd Edwards, then this really is the dream team collaboration. Todd Edwads is a legendary producer from New Jersey who has massively influenced the garage scene in the UK from the early nineties with DJ EZ being one of the main DJ's who showcased his music here is the UK. I purchased this CD a few years ago from Amazon and it still gets a spin occasionally taking me back to my raving days in my youth. The 1st CD consists of tunes DJ EZ has picked which were all influential at that time( CD released 2003) including his legendary intro's which are normally played only at clubs. It also fetures tracks by the legend that is MJ Cole with Talkbox, an absolute belter. However my favourite from CD 1 has to be Zack Toms - Bring Me Down(Stanton Warriors Mix) which has a sweet vocal and then drops... Read review

...in the UK can do much the same job; check first before you leave your car with the garage. My garage advised me to have my brake fluid changed, is this another rip off as my brakes feel fine? If the brake fluid has been properly tested and found to be containing moisture it is advisable to have it changed. Many garages advise on changing it unnecessarily just to be on the 'safe side' or to make extra money, the best way to avoid any confusion is to have the test done whilst you are present. It takes seconds to test with a little pen sized instrument with red, amber and green lights for guidance inserted into the brake master cylinder. Green usually indicates it is all right whilst red indicates that the fluid should be changed immediately. Amber gives you advanced warning of a change, any doubts and I would recommend a second opinion... Read review

...With three cds and over three hours of music, Pure Garage Platinum brings together the best sounds of the five preceding Pure Garage albums stretching back to 2000, whilst adding a few ‘new’ songs along the way. There are 50 tracks, presented on three black compact discs with futuristic silver and blue fonts, which match the colours on the box of the set itself. There is no specific feel to each disc but the third disc features the most new material. From the 50 tracks on the album, only of 13 them are new, so only 25% of the total. Having said that, the other 75% span five double-cd boxed sets so it is difficult to say whether it is worth buying. For someone who wants to know more about, or get into, the garage scene and wants a good summary of the last three years of garage music, you can’t go wrong with this... Read review
