...The first thing that strikes you about this album is the way in which it is set out. The cover has a simple, yet bold design containing many of the 'urban' images which are often connected with garage music. The inside cover contains more of these urban images and a little introduction into the world of garage music, helping people to understand it's underground nature. Another thing that strikes you about this album is the very high content by Artful Dodger. Despite the album being mixed by Artful Dodger, it is not 'their' album. The 4 songs within it by Artful Dodger though, are very good and make up for this inbalance. The songs on the album are excellent, showing the diversity of garage music, ranging from commercially released tunes to the more underground. There is even more diversity, from slow vocal tunes... ...Your car needs a service and MOT and maybe the odd repair and you can't find a garage that you can trust? You've heard so many tales about cowboy garages who tell you that you need a new "whatsit" when in fact you either don't or they say you do just to get more money off you. Incompetent or rogue mechanics are your recurring nightmare as you search the yellow pages. The best way to find a good garage is to ask for recommendations from friends that you can trust. The drunk in the pub saying, "Go to Joe's" is not to be trusted. That guy who lives just down the road from you who never tinkers with his car which at 10 years old seems to keep going on and on is the bloke to ask. Even if you don't know the person, knock on his door and ask where he gets his car serviced. You could even make a new friend... Read review

Advantages: There are some reliable garages out there...
Disadvantages: ...but just try to find them!

...'s opinion that the tracking had never been checked since the car was made, due to the fact he had to blow-torch the tracking nut to get it off, and there were none of the tell-tale scuff-marks on the nut where it would have been gripped with a spanner or wrench. I could go on. I've been to so many garages and I've finally found one I can trust. That garage is One-Stop at Brampton, South Yorkshire. Along the way I've been told by other garages that my exhaust system will need replacing within two months, when in fact it's been fine for two YEARS, bought a car from DM Barnett's dealership at Wath-on-Dearne without knowing that the ECU was wrecked and would need replacing within months. Garages tell you that things need fixing when they don't. That's the bottom line. I've even known a garage be taken to court, due to a mechanic telling... Read review

Advantages: Good value, inexpensive, trustworthy, reliable, convenient

...I found this place 15 years ago, when I had a clapped-ourt little Renault 5, and it speaks volumes (given my volatile attitude towards poor service) that I still take my car, my wife's car and my work-colleagues' cars there. This small independent garage has always shown courteous behaviour towards me and my wife, given us fair estimates and good service. Booking in is at our convenience, with the facility to leave the car at the garage for work to be done whilst we are on holiday. This avoids the problem of being without the car ahilst needing it, or finding somewhere to safely store it. We feel comfortable leaving the car with the garage, for e.g. an MOT, or routine service, with instructions to 'do the necessary', and arrive back to find the job done, and the bill reasonable.
