EarThumps - they can if you want them to
Review of Griffin EarThumps by
kathryn.rosling
Advantages: You hear what your meant to and nothing else
Disadvantages: Could be doggy if using whilst jogging/cyclng etc.
...Well what's the point of reviewing earphones?
Answer - no matter how good your DVD/MP3/radio/MPEG4 etc if you are mobile the earphones are the most important part. Without a good pair you can have the best unit but it will ultimately be let down by poor earphones.
So I have bought several different types in my time and up till now have always been disappointed. This may tell you something about the review to follow. :-)

Review of Members Advice On Ear Stretching by
cloudedmind
Advantages: looks great
Disadvantages: incy bit painful
...(wiping with tea tree oil, salt water etc). Wait 2-4 months to stretch again to avoid damaging the tissue.
Will my ears always be stretched?
The vague point of 'no return' is around 2 gauge (6mm) : becoming less likely to return to the size of a standard earring. This ultimately depends on the elasticity of your skin. The stretching will definitely shrink, but how much differs from person to person. If you gradually stretched its more likely that they will return to a normal size as scar tissue hasn't built up.
Aftercare
As already mentioned, salt water and tea tree oil are the best for helping them to heal. Dissolve around ½ a teaspoon of salt into 500ml of warm water - about shower temperature.
For healing stretching it's advised to wear glass, titanium or surgical steel jewellery only to prevent infection.
When it's healed...

Ultimately, There Was Kylie
Review of Ultimate Kylie - Kylie Minogue by
LostWitness
Advantages: Disc 2 is full of great tracks
Disadvantages: Disc 1 sounds dated
...I have a strange fondness for Kylie Minogue. It stems from the fact that I have grown up with Kylie. When I was at school, developing my individuality and music taste (or lack of it), Kylie was there. As I ventured into gay bars and clubs for the first time, the soundtrack was Kylie. As I left home and started to enjoy my independence, Kylie seemed to grow up with me. She's still going strong, proving critics wrong and somehow she has reinvented herself as a credible and much-loved icon. You only have to look at the outpouring of care in the popular press when, earlier this year, she announced that she was battling breast cancer. It would seem that everybody loves Kylie.
Ultimate Kylie is truly an ultimate greatest hits collection. Kylie's musical career is now heading for its twentieth year and she has come a long way in that time...

Ear we go!
Review of Leo Dog Ear Cleaner by
SueMagee
Advantages: A soothing cleaner for the dog's ears.
Disadvantages: Some dogs may be reluctant to have their ears cleaned in this way.
...If you know a friendly dog, have a look inside his ear. Even in the bit you can see quite easily there are a lot of folds. The ear then gets more complicated because the canal makes a right-angle turn towards the ear drum. Wax is just one of the substances produced along the length of the canal to keep it healthy and supple and the only way this can escape is upwards - against gravity. A lot of it is going to get caught in all those folds.
Have another look at this friendly dog. Does he swim a lot? Does he love hunting in the long grass? Does he generally like rooting around in the undergrowth? If he does then the chances are that all sorts of grass seeds, micro-organisms and general gunk are going to be meeting the wax that's trying to make its way up and out of the ear. The ear then becomes the perfect breeding ground...

Hopi Ear Candles
Review of Hopi Ear Candles by
bluejules
Advantages: *
Disadvantages: *
... ~ Introduction ~
In the months leading up to my driving test and my January A-Level exams I started having frequent migraines. I used to get them less than once a year but I was now getting them every week. So willing to try anything that might prevent a migraine attack I started having Indian Head Massage (IHM). I've been having them for over a year now and they do really seem to help. When I went last month I told the therapist that I have been having lots more headaches (I'm quite stressed) and I'm starting to get mild migraines (not half as bad as they were before I started getting IHM). She did the IHM as usual but suggested that I book a Hopi Ear Candle instead of the IHM. I agreed, so on Wednesday I went for the appointment.
~ What are Hopi Ear Candles? ~
The candles used at the place I went to are made...

'Ear This Wax Lyrical!
Review of Otex Ear Drops by
neenn
Advantages: Goes some way to relieving excess ear wax. Lats a long time
Disadvantages: Difficult to count the drops. Not a miracle cure for lots of excess ear wax.
...■■■ Price and Availability ■■■
My GP advised me to buy these ear drops and given that a prescription is currently £6.85, she suggested that I buy it over the counter at the cheaper price of £4.79 at Boots.
The ear drops can be found in most chemists and supermarkets with a pharmacy:
Superdrug
Lloyds Pharmacy
Morrisons
Asda
Tesco
■■■ Packaging ■■■
This comes in a cylindrical box with a bit of additional card with the 'bumph' at the side of it. (Hopefully the photo will demonstrate this more clearly).
Inside the box is a small, 8ml little tube. The tube has a sealed cap that is easily 'broken' by twisting the screw top cap, a good idea as it shows that the product has not been used or tampered with.
Once the cap is taken off there is a small...

Hopi Ear Candling
Review of Hopi Ear Candles by
carysb
Advantages: It Works, Wax Free
Disadvantages: Can be expensive
...I found this whole procedure a little shall we say "odd" and perhaps "unbelievable". However I decided that as a friend was now qualified in the practice I would pay for the service.
I am a sceptic when it comes to things like this and could not understand how burning a candle held into my ear hole would remove the wax and leave me feeling better.
Described as
"Quite different from conventional wax candles, a Hopi ear candle is actually a cotton tube, impregnated with beeswax, honey and therapeutic oils, that is painlessly inserted into the ear to draw out impurities, relieve pressure in the head and sinuses, and aid hearing problems."
I was advised before the treatment started that I may not visibly see any wax in the candle when it was unravelled but that the treatment would have dislodged earwax even if it hadn't removed...

PARDON? I have something in my ear!
Review of Earex Ear Drops by
piggypine
Advantages: Eases discomfort, gently breaks through wax build up.
Disadvantages: Feels funny during application
...As a child I was always prone to earaches so it was no surprise after a recent cough and cold that I was struck down with discomfort in my right ear. I noticed it when it was quite mild and wanted to stop it getting any worse and preventing a trip to the doctors. Hoping it was just down to waxy build up and not a more severe ear infection I decided to try out the Earex ear drops that we'd bought for our son earlier in the year.
Earex ear drops are a gentle and natural remedy made up of 3 different types of oil- Almond oil, Arachis (peanut) oil and Rectified Camphor oil. The 10ml brown glass bottle has a screw cap featuring a dropper to apply the off yellow drops and comes in a bright yellow and blue outer card box. The combination of oils is designed to gently break through built up wax and clear it easing discomfort in the ear...

Unblock your ears and start listening again.
Review of Otex Ear Drops by
borntoloaf
Advantages: Reduces the need for painful syringing
Disadvantages: No excuse for not hearing her indoors. The Dog won't kiss me becasue of the smell.
...I dedicate this op to anyone, who like me, has experienced the pain of earache. Although most husbands will rightly think, “Ah a fellow married man, suffering at the hands of his wife…” I refer to earache caused by too much earwax. However since earwax is produced as the body’s defence against loud, unwanted noises…
I have battled against ear pain for over a decade now. Since I become a nurse and had to use stethoscopes to take blood pressure readings, I have always found that they impacted my wax into my ear. This in turn caused countless infections and a build up of wax. At times, these afflictions have been incredibly painful and I’ve had countless syringing and vacuuming of my eardrum; both of which have been as equally painful and uncomfortable. That was until I came across Otex ear drops. To me they are a wonder drug. I...

Ear cigars!
Review of Hopi Ear Candles by
bigbtommy
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Expensive and unproven, possibly dangerous
...Ear candling is one of the odder beliefs I have spent time reading about and investigating. Basically, ear candling or 'coning' is an alternative medicine practice (alternative meaning that it has not been proven to work, nor does it have any basis in science or rationality) that claims to be able to quickly and efficiently clear cerumen (earwax) from the ear.
How does it do this? Advocates of the practice claim that the wax is pulled out by the burning of the candle. The candle used in this practice is a long hollow tube made of wax and fabric. The candle is inserted in to the earhole a small distance and then the candle is lit. Obviously, the person is lying on their side during the process.
Most people who make these products will include some cloths and guards to prevent wax from hitting the ear or surrounding area...
