The Ultimate Sci-Fi Quiz DVD game
Review of Tom Baker's Ultimate Sci-Fi Quiz DVD by
ciaofluffymuppet
Advantages: Tom Baker is entertaining
Disadvantages: The game play is slow and irritating
...Tom Baker's Ultimate Sci-Fi Quiz starts well - Tom Baker is, as ever, entertaining and he doesn't take himself too seriously. The game allows for one or two player games, and the premise is that you are captain of a spaceship that has fallen through a wormhole and is lightyears from Earth. You were on a research mission, and it's imperative that the data you collected is returned to Earth. Each question you answer correctly brings you closer to Earth; wrong answers leave you where you are. In a 2-player game there's the added hazard of encountering another wormhole - an incorrect answer here will swap your place with the other contestant if you're ahead and answer correctly.
There are 15 categories of questions, ranging from different decades to 'Earth in Peril'. The 'Literature' category isn't really about books, though, more like...

Ulitmate Collection for an Ultimate Super-Hero
Review of Superman (Ultimate Collector's Edition) (Box Set) by
dempsey_review
Advantages: everything you ever wanted to know about Superman
Disadvantages: Presenation could of been better
...causing havoc with oil tankers, and the Leaning tower of Pisa, until finally becoming a drunk and literally splitting into two different people, the 'bad' Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent who both have an ultimate showdown at a steel works.
Superman must wear off the affects of the bad Kryptonite if he is ever to save the world from a new super computer that has a mind of its own, foil Webster's plans and re-kindle his relationship with Lana Lang.
My thoughts on the movie:
It seems now director Richard Lester has departed from the tone of the first two movies and placed more of an emphasis on comedy in this sequel.
Right from the beginning there is a dire slapstick comedy sequence involving Christopher Reeve and Richard Pryor playing dumb and causing several daft mishaps towards the general public.
The new villain played by Robert...

Fatal Flaws
Review of Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS by
FlameDruid
Advantages: Under XP this is a great souncard for games and musicians.
Disadvantages: Under Vista there have been issues.
...of these full-sized Jack input sockets personally as I don't need all the other options. I do, however, need to go into the computer sound recording system with a microphone and a guitar at the same time. Still, no harm done. I bought a separate mixer to do that. It would just have been more convenient and made for a less cluttered desk.
I was delighted with the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality FPS sound card at first. The musical effects were especially handy when recording. Music seemed to be clearer with the Crystalizer to my ear as well. Later, I came to wonder if this was really so or if the effect might have been somewhat of a gimmick.
In games the EAX was very noticeable. I'd just built a muscle-bound PC with a CPU, graphics card, and lots of fast RAM that were always going to make games smooth so I couldn't say for sure how the FPS...

Super DVDs Last All Summer Long
Review of A.I. (Wide Screen) by
peppersinclaire
Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion
...; this is actually based on a short story by sci-fi supremo Brian Aldiss. The experiment pays off and the creation named David is given to a couple whose son is being frozen until a cure can be found for his illness. They grow to love him, but the real boy recovers, and is not too pleased with his territory being usurped by this ‘super-toy’. As things deteriorate, the test family abandons David and his toy sidekick Teddy and David must fend for himself. Latching onto a sex-bot named Gigolo Joe (not literally, that would be wrong), he sets out across America to carry out his dream –becoming Britney Spears. I mean, a real boy.

When I first saw this at the cinema I was a little unsure about the ending – as were quite a few people. It is certainly open to confusion, but attention pays dividends and the more I see it now, the more interpretations...

So Get Your Ears On Cause Im Hi-Fi
Review of Hi-fi Serious - A (Rock) by
Andy.mack
Advantages: The Distance
Disadvantages: Over too quickly
...Right well this is my third op on A and it brings me to the last album Hi-fi Serious. named after a Sketch on Steve Coogan’s cult comedy Serious Alan Partridge (You know the one he bought the Bang & Olufson CD player/sound system. Well he gets it from Hi-fi Serious the shop).
Well the lads originally from Leeds found real success with this album and got the first decent chart position’s they have had but of course that doesn’t really mean much the way the charts are. Well A have now been around a while and this album was probably going to be make or break for them.
However nothing can take away from the fact that A are a terrific Live band. I saw them at Reading Uni just after this album was released and they were superb. Of course this was the fourth time I had seen them but the first time they had played the new stuff.
Just...

EarThumps - they can if you want them to
Review of Griffin EarThumps by
kathryn.rosling
Advantages: You hear what your meant to and nothing else
Disadvantages: Could be doggy if using whilst jogging/cyclng etc.
...Well what's the point of reviewing earphones?
Answer - no matter how good your DVD/MP3/radio/MPEG4 etc if you are mobile the earphones are the most important part. Without a good pair you can have the best unit but it will ultimately be let down by poor earphones.
So I have bought several different types in my time and up till now have always been disappointed. This may tell you something about the review to follow. :-)
........................................................................................................................
SUMMARY
The Griffin Earthumps are excellent, by far the most superior earphones I have owned.

Seeing the world through your ear...literally!
Review of Members Advice On Ear Stretching by
cloudedmind
Advantages: looks great
Disadvantages: incy bit painful
...(wiping with tea tree oil, salt water etc). Wait 2-4 months to stretch again to avoid damaging the tissue.
Will my ears always be stretched?
The vague point of 'no return' is around 2 gauge (6mm) : becoming less likely to return to the size of a standard earring. This ultimately depends on the elasticity of your skin. The stretching will definitely shrink, but how much differs from person to person. If you gradually stretched its more likely that they will return to a normal size as scar tissue hasn't built up.
Aftercare
As already mentioned, salt water and tea tree oil are the best for helping them to heal. Dissolve around ½ a teaspoon of salt into 500ml of warm water - about shower temperature.
For healing stretching it's advised to wear glass, titanium or surgical steel jewellery only to prevent infection.
When it's healed...
