Sandisk ultra super duper!
Review of Sandisk Compact Flash CF 512 Ultra II 512 MB by
Rachaellmackenzie
Advantages: Faster than the standard card
Disadvantages: More expensive than the standard card!
...I have decided that all my memory cards for my digital cameras are going to be Sandisk from now on!!!
If I am right, Sandisk were the first ones to ever introduce Compact flash cards onto the market... way back when.......
Compact flash cards are widely used, not just for cameras etc but they can be used for memory for so many other items of hardware.
When I bought my first digital camera many moons ago I used to go for whatever was available at the time and probably the cheapest that was available but after using the Sandisk Ultra cards I changed my mind about that! However I would most definitely stick with compact flash cards! The deciding factor on my most recent camera was the fact that it used compact flash cards as its memory. I find that the compact flash cards are useful for a few reasons:
The size makes it hard...

SanDisk SecureDigital Ultra II 512 MB
Review of SanDisk SecureDigital Ultra II 512 MB by
matt_fantastic
Advantages: Fast
Disadvantages: Only 512MB (?)
..., the memory card cannot outperform the camera (a slow camera will still be a slow camera), but I do believe that this "Ultra" version will respond faster, allowing you to take more pictures, faster. Also, when you want to download (upload ?) all the 500+ photo's to your PC for printing/storage/editing or whatever, this fast card will make quick work of that too !
Of course, this will work in any device that takes an SD card, from PDA's to MP3 players.
Dimensions: Height: 2.1 mm, Length: 32 mm, Width: 24 mm, Weight: 1.5 Grams. The SD card also has a little write-protection switch on the side to stop accidental overwriting/deletion of files if required.
REVISION FOLLOWING COMMENT:
Environmental Characteristics:
- Temperature Operating: 0 to 70° C (Standard and Ultra II cards)
- Temperature Non-Operating: -25 to 85° C (Standard...

My Sandisk Ultra II 4GB
Review of Sandisk Ultra II SDHC Secure Digital 4096 MB by
Ikillrocknroll
Advantages: Fast, Cheap
Disadvantages: Lack of backwards compatability
...I bought the Sandisk Ultra II 4GB card after purchasing my new 14.6mp camera, which produces RAW files of around 12-14mb! I clearly needed an upgrade because my older 2GB SD cards could only store 70 photos. I wanted a card that would combine speed, capacity, and value for money - and so I landed at the Class 4 Sandisk SDHC Ultra II 4GB card. I've had experience with Sandisk before, and wanted to stick with them especially after I found out that this card has a lifetime limited warranty, and has been tested to be compatible with a large range of high-end digital cameras.
The Sandisk Ultra II SDHC 4GB card (Which I will now refer to as "The card" to save any confusion), has read speeds of 10mb/sec, and write speeds of 9mb/sec, producing an excellent performance on my camera.
Previously when I used my older 2GB card, I didnt have...

Clickity Click, it's that quick!
Review of Sandisk Compact Flash Ultra II 2048 MB by
vk-dream
Advantages: Cheap and Cheerful
Disadvantages: Time delay as card fills up
.... The larger the space on the card the more money it was going to cost which is typical with pretty much everything in this world. You can have an Ultra card, and extreme card, a multi-use a special edition and even a plus card – the choice for just one brand was mind blowing enough without exploring any further.
As I was only a beginner I only wanted a small memory card and was only looking for 1 or 2 GB. Finally I came across the SanDisk ultra II 1.0GB and was really quite impressed with what I was reading.
“When the shooting turns fast and furious, serious photographers turn to SanDisk Ultra II CompactFlash. So fast, you’re always ready for the next shot. So rugged, environmental conditions are never a problem. So well built that it’s backed by SanDisk’s lifetime limited warranty. When every shot counts, choose SanDisk Ultra II Compact...

(Compact) Flash In The Pan
Review of Bytestor HI Speed Compact Flash CF 1GB 1024 MB by
LegendaryMrDude
Advantages: Price, Capacity
Disadvantages: Reliability, Speed
...The massive success of digital cameras has driven demand for bigger and better portable storage formats and Compact Flash is just one of a number of portable, removable digital storage media available. While it is undoubtedly compact, it is certainly not the smallest format available, XD, SD and SmartMedia are all physically smaller devices. It's at this point that it's worth mentioning that there are two types of Compact Flash named, imaginatively, Type I and Type II. The only real difference is in their thickness, with Type I cards measuring 3.3mm thick and type II cards measuring 4mm. What this means is that a Type I card will work in a Type II compatible deice, but not the other way round, simply because a Type II card will not physically fit in a Type I slot.
The big benefit of Compact Flash is not the physical size, it...

Canon Ixus II (APS version) Great Little Camera
Review of Canon IXUS II Compact Camera by
jouk04
Advantages: Very small, stylish, around £100
Disadvantages: no attatchments
...available to the APS photographer inside the camera. The Ixus II features C print ( Classic), H print ( wide angle) and panoramic ( superwide angle). The most exciting of which is the panoramic mode. Basically it is the size of two normal photographs stuck together side by side so you have a long thin photo like those old fashioned school photographs with the whole school on. They really are great for landscapes, it like having a super wide angle lens built in to the camera, which in itself is smaller than a cigarette packet, the best of both worlds. The camera can also be set to record data such as the time and date the photo was taken which can be printed on the front or back, other information such as the exposure setting etc is also recorded. Also a variety of data (IX information) is recorded onto the film which is used at the processing...

Ultra Compact Camcorder
Review of Canon DC 10 by
xxDanmanxx
Advantages: good effective resolution
Disadvantages: small optical zoom
...of features.
Indeed it did prove good, with an impressive effective resolution of 1.2 megapixels, this camera produced quality shots of my many locations, and the fact that I could easily slip it into my pockets made it even better for the traveller on the go.
The optical zoom was a little disappointing, being only 10X, which would probably make it perfect for family videos, however found it annoying when I tried to zoom in on peaks of mountains and buys hovering high above, finding that they still remained too far away to make any stunning movies.
My verdict for this small thing is that it contains all the features that you would expect for its price, and being ultra compact made it perfect for those day to day shots and holiday moments, however it is not the best value for money....

A high quality, almost ULTRA compact camera
Review of Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z1200 by
flutterby13
Advantages: Size and image quality
Disadvantages: Speed between shots and weight possibly
...I recently bought this camera from Jessops along with a 3 year guarantee for just short of £180, which I didn't think was too bad really.
Its wonderfully small and compact - in fact, I've seen it described as almost Ultra Compact by a digital camera review site. The face side of the camera, I would say, is the same size as a credit card, and about 2cm thick. It boasts a brilliant LED viewer, and an easy to use menu system.
I originally had the Casio Exilim Ex-Z700, so as a newer model, it certainly has a few extra features.
The Best Shot mode has a few extras which I didn't have on the Z700 model. Mainly with the video camera, you can film not only in colour, but in Sepia and in Black and White as a silent film, which I found quite amusing.
Best Shot mode offers what every digital camera should have - Night mode, Macro mode...
