Look at my big ones
Review of HP Universal Hard Drive Hard drive 146.8 GB by
andycharger
Advantages: Great reliability. Good storage. Quick to install
Disadvantages: Power hungry
...When you need large disk capacity, bulletproof performance and reliability in your servers, you cant really go wrong with the Hewlett Packard Ultra320 146.bGb Scsi hard drives.
When you are running RAID5 on a server and need lots of disks to add to the array, these meaty old disk are a surefire winner every time. Whats more they are in the standard 3.5 inch size and can fit in almost all server applications that require Ultra320 disks.
We have a mixture of G4 and G5 Hewlett packard servers here at work and these drives suit the G4 style servers. The have an easy access and hot swap caddy to contain them which makes swapping the drives much easier should you need to as well as the initial install.
Installation. You cannot get simpler. Open the box. Slide the Hard drive into the allocated bay in your server until you feel...

Scsi over Eide everytime with a Cdr
Review of Yamaha CRW 8424S by
sundance
Advantages: Simply the Best Scsi Cdrw on the market
Disadvantages: None
...they used to be, so my advice to anyone thinking of buying a Yamaha Cdrw, go and buy the Scsi version if funds allow, you won't regret it.Out of all the Scsi Cdrw's I have ever bought the only one that I can honestly say I haven't had any problems with at all is the Yamaha. The ultra reliability of this piece of equipment is due to Yamaha's use of high quality parts and the usual high standard of build quality that we are so accustomed to from this company. The high capacity buffer combined with the excellent electronics make this drive a winner, it does what it is supposed to do...write perfect cd's, and that's all we want from a cdrw, to be ultra reliable, stable writing, and basically to produce the end result, a perfect cd, over and over again. In my opinion this is The best Scsi Cdrw on the market today, and you can be rest assured...

Yamaha SCSI - Reliability & Speed
Review of Yamaha CRW 4416S by
andrew_newton
Advantages: Stable, Quick, Good Support
Disadvantages: More expensive than IDE drives
...Previous to my Yamah drive I had aowned an IDE 2speed Mitsumi drive, for over a year. This drive did the job and I never found a CD that I couldnt copy (even though it was only a TAO recorder) and its range of features was adequate (it supported 80min media) The reason I upgraded to the 4x4x16 SCSI Yamaha device was the reccomendations of many people on the net who all said pretty much the same thing. "If you can buy a Plaxtor, if not a Yamaha and make sure its SCSI" I wondered why it mattered if it was SCSI or not as the data rate needed (600kb a sec) would be no problem for my IDE Bus.
When I got the drive and started using it i soon saw the benefits of SCSI. My system used to become really sluggish during a burn and trying to do anything whilst burning almost certainly ended up with a nice shiny coffee mat. With the Yamaha SCSI...

Scsi AND USB in one - the 2200SU
Review of UMAX Astra 2200 by
nosferatu1001
Advantages: cheap, reliable, quick [scsi], incs transparency adaptor
Disadvantages: no scsi support [afaik] under win2k
...Looking for a cheap scanner, I happened upon this beauty in jungle? why beauty? well it only cost me £60 INCLUDING the transparency adaptor. and it includes a scsi port [a DB25 type, ie looks like parallel] as well as the more conventional USB type. This is a brilliant idea, although they only provide the cheaper USB cable [and it's quite short at that] It is reasonably quick through USB, not stunning but then I wouldn't expect so for this price. Through scsi however, it was about DOUBLE the speed. I was mightily impressed. It has the usualscsi pass through, scsi id etc. The buttons [to-program, copy, user-defined] on the scanner are useful, and it isn't *too* tricky to change what program it uses in the TWAIN drivers - it defaults to the included page something or other - not the adobe one oc! - which is fine for beginners, a pain...

Top SCSI to USB Adapter
Review of Adaptec - USBXchange by
jonwhite
Advantages: Plug n play, reliable, efficient
Disadvantages: A bit pricy
...Finally, just when I was begining to give up on ever attaching my SCSI drive to my system, along came the answer to my prayers. A neat fitted in seconds, no need to open the case solution; the Adaptec USB to SCSI connector.
This piece of electronic genius allows you to connect virtually any SCSI device directly to your PC through its USB port. It works and is brilliant. It just plugs in and away it goes. Everything is supplied and with easy to follow directions.
It is not cheap though, expect to pay about $50 ($90) for it but compared with a SCSI card & cables it probably works out the same and is definately 100% less hastle than trying to configure an already stuffed full to the brim machine.
It's got my vote....
