Strong in any way
Review of ThinkPad T20 2647 - PIII 700 MHz - 14.1" TFT by
fjuk
Advantages: Silence, Sturdiness
Disadvantages: Swapable drives, all drivers needed
...The IBM T20 Thinkpad is the perfect choice for the non-gaming experience.
I should say that you will find everything you need in this machine, unless you are in to firewire devices.
As an example I should mention the Ultrabay to which you can even get a DVD-RAM drive (which by now is the newest technology).
However. Never laptops are fitted with USB2 (faster version of USB) and some of them Pentium-M processors (longer battery life).
The T20 runs perfectly with Windows XP, but you will have to install all drivers from IBM - especially the power management drivers, since you elseway will not be sure to return properly from stand-by mode.
The rather old 440-chipset is running at it's best, and the speedstep is fully functional (that is: The PC uses the exact amount of CPU-power needed).
Though the IBM TP X-series are way more...

Fantastic workhorse
Review of ThinkPad T20 PIII 750 MHz - 14.1" TFT by
Boinng
Advantages: Very economic, very smart, well built, very capable
Disadvantages: Ageing now, limited processing power, no USB2 or inbuilt wifi
...the battery I have is four years old and now giving around 60% of its original design capacity (as shown in the helpful IBM battery status app) I still get a couple of hours out of it.
The design of this Thinkpad is second to none, with a titanium composite case which keeps it strong, while being smaller and lighter than many current machines. The keyboard is legendary, with great movement and comfort, and I much prefer it to my desktop. The Trackpoint pointer - or "nipple" mouse set into the keyboard - is also by and away the best pointing device ever invented for a laptop, and far quicker and easier to use than any touchpad. The "Ultrabay" is a brilliant idea too - a hot swappable bay for your choice of disk drives. Most T20's come with at least a DVD reader and a good old fashioned floppy disk drive (the standard kit on release) - but you...

Thinkpad, now that's a thought!
Review of ThinkPad T20 2647 - PIII 650 MHz - 13.3" TFT by
a_t_b321
Advantages: Lightweight, protable, good for all business type applications
Disadvantages: poor stock specification, gets a little warm on your legs!
...I purchased my Thinkpad T20 second hand for around £300. For this money, I got the original specification machine fitted with a CDRW/DVD drive, which is an optional extra for the later models.
With the ultrabay 2000, it is possible to use a range of hardware, without having to re-boot the system. Optical drives, hard disk drives and batteries are some of the possibilities to name a few. These all work at lightning speed and are so simple to change between. The lightweight design, topped good performance are impressive. The screen is 13.3 inches and is a good size and resolution for a small laptop. It comes with all the ports for network, modem, parallel and com ports, 2 PCMCIA slots and a singe USB slot. It also has a mouse and external monitor port, Infra-red port, built in speakers of a good quality for a laptop and line in...

Home or Office Fun
Review of ThinkPad T20 PIII 750 MHz - 14.1" TFT by
Bell
Advantages: speed, size, weight, features & support
Disadvantages: cost
...a winner with the display, a 14.1” TFT active matrix screen. Its crisp, sharp and an excellent size so no external monitor is required unless working with large programmes such as CAD / Solid Works when the bigger the Screen the better.
The T20 come with inter changeable Floppy and DVD drives, Add the quality of the screen and a DVD movie its perfect, The ultrabay which controls the floppy/DVD exchange is all controlled by the laptop and is a "hot swap" facility so no rebooting to change storage method....
The Hard Drive IBM have supplied is a 12.1 Gb Drive which is ample for the home user, Office users might need to upgrade to 20+ but again this is very easily done.
Also in the back of the T20 it has integrated Modem (Fax / Modem 3com 56K) & Network Card (3Com 10/100 Ethernet Adapter) which saves a lot of hassle with installing...

The Lenovo X60 6364 The Good and the Bad
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet 6364 - Core 2 Duo L7400 1.5 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
CoDuK
Advantages: Durable, Powerful, Good Tablet, Amazing battery life, Never overheats, quiet, expansion capabilities, small lightweight,
Disadvantages: old looking, bad graphics card, no CD/DVD drive, bad speaker position
...NEVER overheats. It hardly ever gets hot, only if I am playing a game for an hour, and have got it on my lap, and are half blocking the fan. Then it would start to get hot, but if you leave it for a few minutes, it will cool itself down pretty fast.
Noise, honestly, the FAN makes absolutely no noise; this laptop is pretty much silent. As I said before, it only speed up when playing a CPU consuming game, and having the fan half blocked, will you ever hear it, and when you do, it is still pretty quiet. It is by far, the quietest laptop in my house. So the fan is really good, efficient and silent.
The dock. There is a dock which you can purchase with this laptop, and with similar models of the Lenovo X60 Tablet 6364. It is called the Ultrabay. It expands the uses of your laptop by adding more USB sockets, and more compatibility. It has...

The IBM difference, Great value for ebayers.
Review of ThinkPad T23 2648 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
David_Scutt
Advantages: A trustworthy Notebook from the creators of the PC
Disadvantages: Now a little out of date
...actually inhance your computer experiance.
The keyboard light which is hidden above the screen, shines down onto the keyboard to let you see the actual keys.
The titanium lid, prevents scratches and dents, you can physically drop the laptop, and it would still work, how many times have you dropped your laptop? Trust me it happens, how many mobile phones have little dents due to dropping?
The unique keyboard allows you to have little coffee accidents. If you drop your coffee you just need to put the computer into hibernation, which turns the computer off without loosing the work your currently working on, then dry the computer, then begin using it again. Your data is safe!
The Ultrabay 2000, is a cdrom drive, which you can swap for a floppy disc drive / dvd / battery / 2nd hard disk even when the computer is on.
A very unique...
