Your life needs a little SPARC
Review of Sun Ultra 5 360 - UltraSPARC IIi 360 MHz by
sjhill
Advantages: Cheap entry level Sun SPARC from 1997
Disadvantages: Build quality is PC like, and low cache processors
...The Sun UltraSPARC 5 workstation was brought out in 1997, and was priced so you could have one on your desk for approx 1000 US Dollars. They stopped shipping to customers in May 2002. These days, it is not a fast machine, but still they are perfectly useable for many workstation and server tasks.
Processor and Memory -
This model has an UltraSPARC IIi processor which is, of course, 64 bit and is clocked at 360 MHz. You can have 1GB of memory in the workstation, installed as up to 4 DIMMS, which must be installed in pairs. "Normal" PC memory will not work in these workstations. The 260MHz model only has 256kB cache (same with the 270MHz processor) For better performance, you need the 2MB cache version on the 333 or 400MHz versions.
Storage -
There is one HDD bay in the machine, although if you remove the floppy drive, you can put...

Strongly recommended
Review of Structured Computer Organization by Andrew S Tanenbaum by
Deenie
Advantages: No previous knowledge of computing needed, excellent writing style.
Disadvantages: Price
...I am currently doing a Masters in Information Technology and this book was the recommended text for our Computer Network Systems module. Costing £32.99 I was expecting a good book, and as it turned out it is an excellent book and the investment was definately worth it.
This book basically details the different levels that make up a computer, each one performing a specific function. The examples used throughout the book are the Pentium II, Sun Ultrasparc II and the Java Virtual Machine. Even if you are not studying a degree in computing but have a general interest in the way a computer works you will find this an excellent book that will teach you so much more than you would have expected to learn by such an enjoyable read.
It is written in a very easy to read style - unlike many other computing books I have seen so far during my...

Bush WS6671 I'm Impressed
Review of Bush 28" Widescreen TV by
BizzyBek
Advantages: Low, competitive price, Good design
Disadvantages: no major ones, parts of the instruciton manual could be better
...and sharpness.
This menu also has a picture mode choice. There are six picture modes to choose from:
1 - Auto - this is an automatic setting which will select the correct setting for the programme either 4:3, 16:9 or cinema.
2 - 4:3 Mode. The picture is in 4:3 format with black lines down each side of the picture. In my speak - it’s the picture is square like in the olde days.
3 - 16:9 Mode.
4 - Zoom Mode. the picture is enlarged to maximum size.
5 - Subtitle Mode. This is a great feature, the picture is in 16:9 but moved up so the subtitles appear fully.
5 - Cinema Mode. The picture is in 16:9 mode then enlarged vertically stopping the black bands at the top and bottom of the screen.
I am not keen on 16:9 widescreen mode. When programmes are transmitted in this format it's okay but otherwise I find a lot of pictures appear squashed...

Meme me!
Review of Everything that starts with M ... by
abbichicken
Advantages: M. It's a good letter. Mmm...
Disadvantages: It depends how interested or not you are!
...funniest childhood memory?
Oh I really can't think of anything outstandingly amusing? Or indeed, just...generally amusing!
10* How many nieces and Nephews do you have if any?
None =( Only child...
11* What did you last have to drink?
Water and cherry diet coke - separate glasses though!
12* When did you last go out for the night and where?
I don't tend to go out much here, so, last time I went out was probably at home, down the pub!
13* What's your favourite colour?
Royal blue and bright red, preferably next to each other!
14* If you could meet just five Ciaoers for a drink who would it be and why?
I'm not sure I know any of you well enough to make a good decision, so, I'll just say, anyone and everyone would do! XD
15* What's your lifes motto and why?
Probably something like "just keep going!"
16* What would be your ideal job...

"MARTY! Let's get back to the future"
Review of Back To The Future DVD by
dr_john_becker
Advantages: Atmospheric, nice charakters, beautiful film...
Disadvantages: Only a few... ;o)
...Introduction
<<<<<<>>>>>>
When "Back To The Future" hits the box office in 1985, I was just a little boy (born in 1983 ;o)). So I never had the chance to view this genius motion picture in the cinema (such a shame!). But when I grew up, I saw it many, many times on TV. Well, I love this movie; the hole Trilogy, very, very much.
In my opinion, it's one of the best movies of all times. Theres this special kind of 'magic' within this movie. This kinda 'magic' I've seen only in one (or three) other Movie(s): 'Star Wars: Episode I-III'. It's impossible to define it.
'Back To The Future' is atmospheric, it's about friendship, love... Every time I've seen 'BTTF', I wished I could 'dive' into the movie, be a part of it.
It's the masterpiece of Blockbuster-Director Robert Zemeckis.

Review of Unleashed Memories - Lacuna Coil by
inbetweendaysx
Advantages: full of great tracks, great harmony, unique and etheral sound
Disadvantages: NOTHING!
...are into that kind of thing. Changing rhythms all the way through, nice fills as well as interlinked vocals and harmony. **9/10**
Lost Lullaby - 5.05
Very piano like at the start but echoing effects used again, distorted but not over the top, always fantastic guitar riffs and melodies interlinking, either in unison or separate. Cristina's vocals twice in this song in places, for harmony sections. "I don't want to bliss you forever, ahh----iiii." Lovely lyrics, always can hear what Cristina is singing in the songs. **8/10**
OVERALL
Overall album 9/10.
Compared to other Lacuna Coil albums 9/10.

My Top 10 U2 Songs
Review of U2 X-Posed (Interview) - U2 by
shanecahill
Advantages: I picked them, they're good!
Disadvantages: No place for it, should be a place for it
...Rattle And Hum on my list (not including the live version of Bullet The Blue Sky) this is another of U2's classic live songs, which became apparent on the Popmart video, where the boys performed a stunning rendition of this. Lively guitar, closely followed by Bono's vocals, forcing anyone who knows the song to shout (join in) "DES-IIII-IIII-IIII-RE". Brilliant, a touch of class.
Lemon
From the album Zooropa
Very un-U2ish (cool, I just made my own word!), yet still up ther with the best of them, Lemon barges in at number 8. From the album Zooropa, which has been compared to what Radiohead did with Kid A, this has lots of electronic noises and beeps and stuff, but what makes this song is the high-pitched vocals from Bono as he warbles "Lemooon... see through in the sunlight" etc. Don't try sing-along, you may found you lose the ability...

The Merchant Of Venice Essay
Review of Everything that starts with V ... by
pumpkin_pie2002
Advantages: comedy for all other characters
Disadvantages: tradgedy for Shylock
...Shylocks most famous speech.
‘what’s his reason? I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath
not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections,
passions, fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons,
subject to the same diseases, healed by the means, warmed
and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Christian is?’
(III-i . 54-59)
Shylock is revealing his true feelings to Salerio and Solanio. This speech shows just how hurt and upset he is. He wants everyone to recognise that he is just the same as any other person. He wants them to see that just because one person is a Jew and another is Christian, they are still both human and should be treated in the same way. The use of rhetorical questions in this speech is getting the audience, and the two characters he is speaking to, to think about what he is saying.
At the end...

A powerful rock opera
Review of American Idiot (Parental Advisory) [PA] - Green Day by
Jimbo999
Advantages: The whole thing
Disadvantages: Some may be offended by swearing
...you fast forward to.
iii.I don't care
This is basically a filler and just repeats I don't care over and over but still good to fill the gaps between to great songs.
iv.Dearly beloved
This is singing. Not the hard rock you were listening to before! Quick paced and lively.
v.Tales of another broken home
The end and slow and quick all in one. Best bit of the song.
Overall - **** - 4 star which is still very good
3.Holiday
A very good tunful song which is well worth a listen. The intro is extremely good and quick and also gradually gets louder, you've been warned!***** - 5 star
4.Boulevard of broken dreams.
Another great track that carries on from Holiday. Great lyrics and a good listen. ***** - 5 star
5.Are we the waiting
The weak link in the chain with a massive bass line. Ok - *** - 3.5 stars
6.St. Jimmy
Magnificent. I learnt...
