Your life needs a little SPARC
Review of Sun Ultra 5 360 - UltraSPARC IIi 360 MHz by  sjhill

Advantages: Cheap entry level Sun SPARC from 1997
Disadvantages: Build quality is PC like, and low cache processors

...The Sun UltraSPARC 5 workstation was brought out in 1997, and was priced so you could have one on your desk for approx 1000 US Dollars. They stopped shipping to customers in May 2002. These days, it is not a fast machine, but still they are perfectly useable for many workstation and server tasks. Processor and Memory - This model has an UltraSPARC IIi processor which is, of course, 64 bit and is clocked at 360 MHz. You can have 1GB of memory in the workstation, installed as up to 4 DIMMS, which must be installed in pairs. "Normal" PC memory will not work in these workstations. The 260MHz model only has 256kB cache (same with the 270MHz processor) For better performance, you need the 2MB cache version on the 333 or 400MHz versions. Storage - There is one HDD bay in the machine, although if you remove the floppy drive, you... Read review

Saw IV - Psychological Horror 101
Review of Saw IV DVD by  GoFigure

Advantages: Intricately woven storyline and mind-boggling scenes.
Disadvantages: None - this is horror at its best.

...ninety minutes to overcome a series of demented traps and save an old friend - or face the consequences. Unfortunately for Rigg, the FBI are not convinced that he's actually another of Jigsaw's victims... Watching 'Saw IV' felt more like a wrap-up to 'Saw III' - which inevitably gave you a glimpse of what to expect in 'Saw V', which is presently in the making. Needless to say that if you haven't watched 'Saw III', then you shouldn't be watching this latest sequel in the 'Saw' series - if you do, chances are you won't understand what's going on. 'Saw IV' was reminiscent of the original movie with its cleverly woven storyline, thought-provoking scenes and twisted ending. Who would have thought that after a totally random 'Saw III' with its lack of a solid storyline, and scenes packed with random gruesome body mutilations, that any... Read review

Civilisation IV
Review of Civilization IV (PC) by  hero164

Advantages: Addictive, Vast, Complex to Master, Simple to Play.
Disadvantages: Addictive, Slows down in later stages.

...Introduction Civilisation IV is, unsuprisingly, the fourth in the well known series by Sid Meir. The game sees you try to build a civilisation from 4000BC through to 2050AD and dominate your neighbours through a combination of military, cultural, diplomatic and technological means. Gameplay The game is turn based and each of your units have a movement rating that allows you to move a certain number of spaces (tiles) per turn. You begin with a single settler on the map with most of the area blacked out until it is explored, this settler can be used to make your first city. Cities The first thing you will do is look to place this city in a good location. Each of the tiles on the map is a different type of land which gives varying benifits to your city. The different types are: Plains, Grassland, Desert, Tundra, Hill... Read review

GTA IV (PS3)
Review of Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV) (PS3) by  Anax

Advantages: Graphics, Physics, Gameplay
Disadvantages: Does not offer anything new

...I have owned GTA IV for a week now and I have already played over 20 hours. Someone could say that I'm addicted. Plot: Game's main character is Niko Bellic, who is a Serbian immigrant. He came to America to live the famous American Dream but he quickly realizes that thing's aren't so good as his cousin Roman has told him. I think that GTA IV has the best plot of the series so far. It's touching, it's funny and it's full of action. There are many crazy people who you work for and some of them you will eventually have to kill. Plot is not very complicated but it's not too simple either. Graphics: GTA series finally arrived to next generation consoles and it couldn't look better. Lightning is awesome and you can't praise physics enough. New Euphoria Engine looks cool and people act naturally to bullet and car hits. Gameplay... Read review

My GTA IV review. Does it live up to the Hype?
Review of Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV) (Xbox 360) by  NinjaPanda

Advantages: Lovely city, great acting, love the accents and Multiplayer is a huge plus.
Disadvantages: A few pop ins on the 360 version

...GTA IV... What isnt there to love about this fabulous game? First let me tell you I am no fan of the Grand Theft Auto series as I have found them all boring after the first two hours, until that is GTA IV came along. Now I'm hooked and I don't know why. Is it the pedestrians walking by munching on a hotdog, conversing with their friends and even pulling out an umbrella as it starts to rain upon the ever alive streets of liberty city, As I drive down the city at full speed pursued by the police I smash into a pedestrian and almost feel sorry as Euphoria kicks in (Euphoria is kinda a ragdoll engine for games and the like, But it gives the characters a sense of self preservation so they could for instance try and break thier fall as they plummet to the hard hard ground below them) sending them flying over my bonnet and into the the police... Star Trek IV
Review of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - Soundtrack by  berlioz

Advantages: A reasonably good overture
Disadvantages: The merits end there

...Beginning where the last film ended, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home continues the story as Kirk and crew are in exile on Vulcan when they defied Starfleet and stole the Enterprise in order to get Spock's body away from the planet Genesis and back to Vulcan. After fighting off Starfleet, Klingons and a destructing planet they managed to get Spock back to Vulcan where they performed a seremony to reunite Spock's katra (Spock's consciousness at the time in McCoy) with his body, finally bringing him back to life. Now Kirk and the rest have decided to return to Earth and face the consequences. Piloting their stolen Klingon Bird of Prey they soon find out that Earth is being bombarded by an alien probe, scanning and vaporising the oceans in search for humpback whales, as it is soon discovered. The whales have been extinct since the 21st century... Read review

Myst IV: Revelation (PC)
Review of Myst IV: Revelation (PC) by  catchoc11

Advantages: Unbeatable graphics and all round gaming experience for point and click adventure
Disadvantages: Some very difficult puzzles

...If you enjoyed the rest of the Myst series then you’re in for a treat as Myst IV Revelation is based on the same premise, but with improvements to game play. Set in stunning worlds with superb graphics, atmospheric music and sound effects. Your task is to solve a range of intricate puzzles, which are often difficult, in order to find out Atrius’s sinister sons’ latest antics and to help Atrius’s family. For new players I recommend playing the first three Mysts to give you a full picture of the plot, although not essential, they’re all great games in their own right. There are plenty of opportunities to interact with realistic creatures and people, as well as the environment. There are also beautifully created live-action scenes to support the plot. If you haven’t played Myst before my advice is to look and listen carefully... Read review

GTA:IV - A quick look
Review of Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV) (Xbox 360) by  mcicp19

Advantages: Better game play, better graphics and cut scenes, city is amazingly detailed
Disadvantages: Less featues than San Andreas

...To put it simply Grand Theft Auto IV when taken as a stand alone game is one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played. You play Russian immigrant Nico Belic, a low level criminal looking to live the American Dream and also plotting revenge for a 'incident' in his past (I'll not go into this as it would spoil part of the story for you). He's pretty messed up but a good guy at heart who I became more attached too the longer I played the game. He's pretty intense and vilolent but also funny at times, sort of like Tony Montana in Scarface. The Xbox live section of the game is pretty good, even just driving around in the foyer (free roam of the map) is alot of fun as you can enter areas like the airport without being chased by the police. The only problem I had with it is the ability to lock onto targets. Its my opinion... Read review

Is Grand Theft Auto IV really that Grand at all?
Review of Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA IV) (PS3) by  greenie331

Advantages: Gameplay and Graphics
Disadvantages: None

...Grand Theft Auto IV is arguably the best game of 2008. Problems are very difficult to spot. The only problem I encountered was towards the beginning of its release; multiplayer struggled to even load. This however, has been sorted by Rockstar and now online runs just as smooth as the offline experience. What has changed since Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? The obvious improvement is graphics. The new physics engine, RAGE has added much more to the game. Simply being ran over by a car makes you realise how much the physics have been developed. The new cover system really helps the combat side of the game. Instead of standing exposed to gunfire, the protagonist can simply take cover, which gives the game a more realistic edge than its predecessors. The police system has also been improved. The wanted stars do not play as big... Read review
