1000 Tattoos

...I became obsessed with tattoos at a very young age; I would look for tattoos on people and often ask them what their tattoos meant and why they got them. Predictably at about 14 years old I started to want a tattoo. I pestered my Mum for two years solid and when I was 16 she thought she'd call my bluff. She marched me into a tattooist and told me to pick a tattoo and get it done there and then. She thought I would wimp out but I didn't and I still love the tattoo I got that day. I guess some people are just meant to get ink.
Anyway, I digress the point in hand is the fabulous book, "1000 Tattoos". I found this little gem in a bookshop that was closing down for the princely sum of £1.00 although on Amazon copies are selling from £17.30 to £52.39.

Pentax K1000
Advantages: Unlimited use
Disadvantages: Need to buy a flash separate
...In this age of high technology automatic electronic equipment it pays to take a step back to the simple things such as the Pentax K1000 camera. The fully manual 35mm SLR obviously requires complete user control but for the photographer who doesn’t want to be limited by a camera’s ability, this is the one for you.
The only power needed is for the exposure meter from a small battery which is activated when the lens cap is removed. The built-in through-the-lens meter measures the average brightness of the ground glass at full aperture and then couples to the aperture, shutter and film speed settings. The shutter mechanism is completely manual meaning that the camera can still be used even when the battery is exhausted, with a little guess work for the exposure. The focal plane shutter extends from speeds B, 1 second to 1/1000...

Dell Vostro 1000
Advantages: Cheap and well spec'd
Disadvantages: No disadvantages when priced at £352
...of Dell laptops always seem to be getting better. I made the decision to buy.
The snag I found was this Dell Vostro 1000 was a range that is only available to business customers. This wasn't really a major problem, as I could just buy it as a business. Purchasing as a business has a drawback, but it also has a pro point.
The drawback to buying as a business is that the distance selling regulations only apply to consumers, so you cannot send it back within 7 days if you change your mind.
The pro point is that the laptops tend to have less rubbish installed on them, than their equivalent consumer models.
The specifcation of the Laptop I purchased was:

Review of Dell Vostro 1000

The Dell Vostro 1000
Advantages: price, durability, look, speed, memory
Disadvantages: N/A
...I bought the Dell Vostro 1000 for starting a Degree last september. The Vostro 1000 is marketed at businesses and as such is installed with Windows Vista Business. The laptop came with 2GB of RAM which is ample to run vista comfortably.
The fact that the laptop is marketed for businesses has made no difference to me. In fact it has probably helped me with my degreee as it doesn't come with all the extra unnecessary rubbish that others do (e.g. solitaire, hearts etc)!
The Vostro has been able to handle everything I have thrown at it; every game I have installed, the microsoft ultimate 2007 package, etc.
The Dell Vostro 1000 is amazing quality for money and I would thoroughly recommend it, expecially for anyone on a limited budget.
The battery once charged does not last for ages but it is not too bad at all; as with most laptops...

Want 1000 Kisses?
Advantages: Stays put for ages as the advertising claims

Rimmel very bravely named this lipstick "1000 Kisses" and I wonder how many people have actually bought this product and then proceeded to kiss people 1000 times to see if it actually stands up to this particular test?
Maybe not many people then! I certainly didn't test mine that way. I simply bought it for 2 reasons - I like lipsticks that supposedly stay put on your lips rather than on drink glasses, cigarettes, etc and because I liked the particular shade that I chose - Scarlet (205).
The only kiss test I did with this lippie was to kiss the back of my hand a dozen or so times (yes I do love myself!) and I was pleased to see that the lipstick didn't leave any signs of me...

Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3 Review

...This review is based on my experiences of using this product. It is not an in-depth look at its specification. This is a general review on the CDJ-1000MK3, and a comparison with the MK2.
First, a little about my use of the product. I have been djing for over four years now, and started off on a pair of Numark turntables playing vinyl. Umax Astra 2000P

I used to have a Umax Astra 2000P parallel-port flatbed scanner, but after the third one went wrong, I asked Umax's UK support provider to give me something else, because the darn thing would always go wrong when I most needed to copy a document or scan something.
I don't know if this is the experience of other users, but the parallel port model was nothing but trouble from the start.
The problem was always scanner connection. VSaccess used to suddenly and without warning say the scanner was undetectable and that was it. The last problem occurred during a scan - my machine hung whilst it was scanning happily, but following reboot the scanner was permanently undetectable.
I now have a 2200 instead, which has worked fine (so far), but did need me to go and buy a scsi card....

Disadvantages: Does't give you access to sports channels, Sky 1 or any movie channels.
...Now that we are in the boom of digital technology and now digital television, in order to view these new fee channels, you're going to have to get yourself a tuner.
There are many styles/makes to choose from and they basically do the same thing which is to be able to pick up and display digital TV programs on to your normal television.
There is no need to buy a super dooper TV to get great channels, just buy one this tuner.

Bush DFTA1000/TECHNOSONIC SA201
Advantages: Freeview without a set-top box, cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Doesn't have the functionality of more expensive solutions

I gave myself a budget of £50. There were quite a few costing less than that and for that price range you don't get much. Basically a freeview tuner with a built-in Electronic Program Guide.
The one that caught my eye and that I subsquently bought was the Bush DFTA1000. There was also a Technosonic one which is exactly the same as the Bush had the same manual and was the same price. The only difference was the brand name. I bought the Bush product simply because I hadn't heard of Technosonic
This must be the smallest freeview box available on the market.
Its about the same size as a pack of cards and plugs directly into the scart socket of your TV or DVD player.
