Save £££££££'s by buying unbranded
Review of Tips on Choosing a Camera by
callancool
Advantages: Can save you pounds and get you a great camera
Disadvantages: could end up buying a poor quality camera if not careful.
...in the digital camera mags and they're all for the known brands of cameras such as Sony, Cannon, and the other leading manufacturers. Lesser known manufactures who produce cheaper cameras have either no ads or small ones in those mags. As a result the mags only seem to review the cameras from the majors, or give the cameras from the unbranded cheaper names poorer reviews - understandable really when most of their advertising revenue is from those major league players.
Until recently if you wanted a Digital camera of 2 Megapixel or more then you couldn't get one on the UK high street for under £120 until January as the cheaper CMOS technology cheaper camera makers use for their camera sensors hadn't become available. Previously cheaper Megapixel cameras used interpolation to give a very poor quality image. However in the last 8 months there has...

Branded or Unbranded, that is the question
Review of Generic 128Mb PC-133 Dimms SDRAM by
Gowland
Advantages: Unbranded Memory is very cheap to buy
Disadvantages: Unbranded Memory can not be overclocked
...I must be mad to try to write an opinion on Ram (Random Access Memory). What do you say about computer memory, most people don’t care, they just switch on the computer and “hey presto” it works.
Well let me explain what the Ram does and why I recommend using “Unbranded” Ram.
The Ram in the computer is the memory that runs the programs that you choose to use at any one time that is stored on your Hard Drive. Basically, it’s the virtual memory. Any program that you choose to run that is stored on your Hard Drive is transferred across to the Ram and that is the memory that you use whilst using that particular program or programs, depending on how much Ram you have within your computer.
If you do not have enough Ram to carry out you tasks within the programs that you want to run on your computer...

Review of unknown - unbranded web cam by
rushtond
Advantages: cheep
Disadvantages: poor quality and conflicts.
...If you ever go into a shop and see a cheap web cam that is unbranded, dont buy it. You will soon find out why.
The last web cam that i came accross that was unbranded, believe it or not, actually conflicted with the prot that it was plugged into. Hows that for ludicrism.
There are many other disadvantages to buying an unbranded web cam however. These are mainly the obvious such as:
The camera will be poor quality (usualy only 300k pixels.)
The camera will conflict with other devices.
The camera will have problems working in netmeeting.
The software that you get with it is poor. You will usualy get a program that only allows the picture size to be small thanks to rubbish compression codecs and realy memory consuming large files. The average size for a one minute recording from the last web cam that had took about 42megs of hard disk...

Review of cdrseller.co.uk by
indiegirl
Advantages: Good quality unbranded items, inexpensive, fast delivery, Friendly service
Disadvantages: Lack of order tracking, items go out of stock quick, Stock changes frequently, limited delivery options.
..... and the site sells a bit more besides!
In today's minefield of trying to find the best deals on CDR discs, it can be a real problem being weighed down with choices, postage costs, and just, well, really knowing what to buy! You want the best price at all times (we all hate paying over the odds), and therefore research is necessary...
I found this website via eBay; the seller was offering items through eBay for sale, but was offering the online-payment through the website. I was looking to buy a bulk pack of CDR discs, I needed 80min/700mb discs as some of the data I tend to back up comes in copious volume sizes, and standard 74min/650mb discs just weren't quite enough.
My first purchase was a pack of 100 CDRs, which were boxed as 'unbranded,shrink-wrapped discs'. I bought these on the understanding that they'd been mixed...

RAM it in
Review of Computer Memory (RAM) by
real_rob_writer
Advantages: Cheap, big boost
Disadvantages: none
...tell you to go for unbranded RAM, as it really is no worse than the branded stuff in most cases, but I'll explain that in greater detail later.
Once your RAM arrives, take your PC to a nice open workspace, unscrew the case and locate the RAM slots. RAM is pretty fragile stuff, or at least it is when you expose it to static electricity, so wear some kind of anti static wristband. The alternative is to earth yourself on the PC case, but be careful with new motherboards, even when the PC is seemingly left plugged in, it is likely that the power switch on the front is just a soft switch, and that power is still flowing through the motherboard. Make sure you have your PC off at the power switch!
Putting the memory in is as simple as slotting it in the slot! It only fits in one way, denoted by little notches. Fitting 72-pin RAM involves...
