...One of my favorite authors is Jules Verne in my childhood and even now also and one of my favorites is 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea dealing with under water travel. What is remarkable is Verne conceptualized the submarine, long before the idea even came into existence. The book starts off in the year 1866 A.D. where ships sailing across the world encounter an "enormous thing ", which is a long spindle shaped object and phosporent. Many different theories abound, some say it's a huge whale, some say it's a sea monster, none has any idea about it. A year later the "thing" takes on a more alarming tone, when many ships have been struck by it. And a huge public outcry goes up to destroy this "thing". ...I can remember when the Wonderful World of Disney came on saturday nights, and great family films aired. This was a film that came up every so often over the years, and such was the quality that my school actually showed it to us in class when I was in 6th grade. I loved the film then, and when I saw it was available to rent from Amazon, I grabbed it. I mentioned we were watching it to my Mom, and she then bought us a copy, and sent it to us from the US. Once again, there were many features on the Region 1 disc that are not on the Region 2 disc. I will go into that in a bit. Advantages: Amazingly vivid descriptions of underwater life, Captain Nemo's intriguing character
Disadvantages: Unabridged version overloaded with detail at times

...vessel designers as much as he did! For someone who never had any formal training in science or engineering, that's quite an amazing feat. Despite sometimes going into far too much detail for my liking, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea is a compelling read, partly because of the environment that is so close but so far from all of us, but mainly due to the eternal mystery surrounding Captain Nemo. The gentle humour that puts in an appearance from time to time (usually in the form of Conseil) adds a light touch to the proceedings, and the plentiful action set pieces are well written as you'd expect. Younger ones or those who don't read much may find the unabridged version slightly hard going at times, but for avid readers it's a must-read. Not quite 5 stars in my opinion, though maybe the abridged version would be. For anyone interested... Read review

...the tracks with a sound that is fresh like the breaking tide, a weird production factor but very effective given the album title. The rest of the album compiles luckily of more distinguishable piano playing, and thus I am still extremely happy with the way the third and fourth tracks were put together. Hamburg Song is an organ based track that yet again shows Keane's skill at switching style and like every track in the album it is a prefect demonstration of Chaplin's angelic voice and consistent range. I have prayed night and day for an "Untitled 2" and was slightly disappointed to see the story discontinued on the back of Under The Iron Sea, having said that I am treating the instrumental The Iron Sea as the new album's substitute as it is a similarly enchanting piece of music. Advantages: A very consistent album
Disadvantages: Some tracks might be too similar

...of the previous track and the slow crisp lyrics. When the track is played it somehow raises above the others in such a way that you really notice it after the steady melodic tracks earlier in the album. If there is one track to put on your favourite music list then this is the one. The final three tracks 'Try Again', 'Broken Toy' and 'The Frog Prince' round off the album nicely. In all I think that this is one of the most consistent guitar based albums that I have listened to in a long time. It's not going to rock you to the core and it is probably better played as background music. That said both myself and Mrs Cad like the album in equal measure and that is a very rare thing for us.
