Preaching to the perverted
Review of Slayer - The Unholy Alliance - Preaching To The Perverted DVD by
joe-survey
Advantages: Great footage
Disadvantages: None
...The Unholy Alliance tour
The Unholy Alliance tour is an annual tour of Europe and North America. It is headlined by the thrash band Slayer. The 2006 tour also featured InFlames, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Mastodon and Thine eyes bleed.
Preaching to the perverted DVD
This is one of the best tour DVDs that i have seen. It has some of Slayers best songs including "Angel of Death" and "South of Heaven" The performances are great from all bands and it got me into Children Of Bodom, who i had not heard before. It contains all the usual behinds the scene footage and exclusive interviews.
My experience
As i couldn't see the tour live i decided the DVD was the next best thing. After getting a mate round, we shoved it on and cranked up the volume. My main interest was Slayer although i did enjoy them all (Especially...

SAMHAIN Unholy Passion
Review of Unholy Passion [Remastered] - Samhain by
469FIEND
Advantages: Bonus tracks
Disadvantages: No lyrics, original recording was slightly better
...that to this day has a great following of hardcore die hard fans worldwide.
Back in 1987 Samhain had released their ( at that time) their final album titled "Samhain III November- Coming - Fire.
The track listing on this album is as follows...........
Unholy Passion
All Hell
Moribund
The Hungry End
Misery Tomb
I Am Misery
This compact disc almost works for me but fails to do so as the original release on Plan 9 records was much better with the original recordings and not the re recorded version that appears on this E-Magine records version. If you are either a Misfits or a Glenn Danzig fan, you will notice that the song "All Hell" is a Misfits song but done as a Samhain track.
Samhain`s music is full of raw power guitar, bass guitar, drums as well as grunts and growling vocals that are sure not to appeal to the fans of the likes...

HSBC insurance provided by Royal & Sun Alliance
Review of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc by
Vicky28Vernon
Advantages: Reasonably priced premiums
Disadvantages: Long time to settle claim
...Having read other reviews about this company it seems I'm the only one who's had difficulty with them but we all take the rough with the smooth so here goes!!
Royal & Sun Alliance are a well known insurance provider, they are probably best known for their home and car insurance but if anything is 'insurable' I'm told they insure it.
My husband and I bought our house in October 2001 and whilst applying for our mortgage we decided to take out our buildings and contents insurance with HSBC so that we had payments going to one company rather than several. We were told that Royal & Sun Alliance were the providers and the premium was £28 pcm, having recently shopped around for quotes we knew that this was a competitive quote and our bank set everything up for us.
In October 2002 I went on a trip to Belgium with my family. I returned...

Ultimate Alliance of good and bad.
Review of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Wii) by
BTlover
Advantages: Each character is his own, large amount of replay value
Disadvantages: Controls need more work, graphics are not up to par.
...Spider-Man. Wolverine. The Fantastic Four. These are but a handful of the heroes you and your friends can control in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, the latest multi-platform offering from Activision. In the vein of their previous X-Men Legends games, Ultimate Alliance brings together some of the most notable (and several of the least) Marvel heroes for some hot teamwork beat-em-up action. The Wii version in particular boasts an interesting control scheme (one that may irritate as much as please) at the expense of attractive graphics and an irritating glitch among your CPU teammates. In the end, the game's only worth your money if you've got the friends for it - and even then, perhaps not.
The control scheme should be familiar for those who've played X-Men Legends: four characters in a "party," each with his or her regular attacks, special...

Solabeat Alliance - Island Fire
Review of Island Fire - Solabeat Alliance by
RazzaLazza
Advantages: Some uplifting, fun Ska Punk songs
Disadvantages: Not as good as it could have been
...I have owned this CD for about 2 weeks now and have spent this time trying to work the CD out - it is really nothing like anything that I have seen with the Solabeat Alliance before, they have come up with something entirely different and really shocked me - it is not at all what I expected from them and has a much cleaner sound than before. With 'Rise On Up' the band seemed to be going for that live edge, which had not been captured with their previous 2 efforts and they came up tops. This CD however shows the band in a whole new light - the production of it is extremely different and I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to work out whether I like it or not - and about some of the tracks I am still undecided. I really enjoyed the 'Rise On Up' EP but feel the songs which have been recorded for the album which were on Rise On Up, 'Summer...

Alliance and Leicester? Never ever again!
Review of Alliance & Leicester Online Banking by
pony111
Advantages: Competitive interest rate
Disadvantages: Unfriendly literature, unhelpful staff, website difficult to use
...I was attracted to the Alliance and Leicester's 'Online Saver' account because of the relatively high interest rate offered. Today when I checked, the interest rate is 5.35% which is higher than most of the mainstream competition.
I applied for this account online via their website. I find their home page almost assaults the eye; it's as though they want to shout about every link on there and ultimately it's just too much and in my opinion it looks 'cheap'. It didn't take too long to complete the application form and about seven days later the account was set up.
To notify me that my new account was ready, I received two letters through the post, one letter had a pin number and the other letter a username so that I could login. There was a minimal amount of detail in the letter, just barely enough instructions to get you logged in...

Royal Sun Alliance are probably the worst
Review of Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance plc by
seanp
Advantages: Easy to buy. Well distributed.
Disadvantages: Everything!
...I entitled this "probably the worst", only because I have not had experience of every insurer out there, however I have had experience of at least four in the UK, as I am involved in property.
Over a year ago, we had a very substantial building claim relating to flooding which caused the property to be uninhabitable. Royal Sun Alliance accepted that the claim was covered by our policy, and we started repairs. From the commencement of repairs they denied liability for our alternative accommodation costs. We protested that we were covered for this, but they steadfastly denied this. Furthermore the repairs that they eventualy sanctioned, necessitated that the property was vacated. An alternative solution could possibly have been found, but the repair works would have been considerably more.
The loss assessor they used was extremely...

Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance II (PS2)
Review of Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance II (PS2) by
Paul32
Advantages: Story & co-operative game play
Disadvantages: Very hard ending
...This is the follow-up to the first PS2 instalment “Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance” and continues in the same vein as a Role Playing Game set in the Sword & Sorcery style, with several of the original characters making guest appearances.
It is set in and around the city of Baldurs Gate, a large mythical land set back in the annals of time and full of magicians, barbarians, goblins and wolves amongst many other mystical beasts. This game continues on from the first storyline which saw you as the victor destroying the black tower of a fallen but once mighty warrior, Eldrith the Betrayer. Basically in this one some rather naughty people want to rebuild the black tower right smack bang in the middle of the city and your job is to stop them via an extensive number of quests.
You can play as one of five new characters: a female Cleric (good...

The Alliance and Leicester Didn't want my money
Review of Alliance & Leicester by
Gemimathecat
Advantages: Can with draw money from rural post offices
Disadvantages: If you live in a rural area and don't have an account you stuck!
...I come from a rural area where post offices are literally the only way to bank, since selling my car its either walk to the nearest town or use the post office. Yet dispite this fact the Alliance and Leicester have refused to let me open a bank account with them on two occasions. I even explained to them the only way I can get cash in an emergency is at my local post office, yet they did not want to know. The only debts I have are student loans, I have a full time job, I didn't even apply for an overdraft or cheque book facilities. Is there some thing else I don't know about. The first time I applied to them fair enough I was straight out of university and only had a temporary job, but two years later with a full time job, what is wrong with these people? I is hard enough surviving in rural areas if you don't have easy access...

Alliance & Leicester Premier Current Account
Review of Alliance & Leicester Accounts by
anne106
Advantages: £100 bonus, Free travel insurance, on-line application
Disadvantages: None apparent as yet.
...So far - so good!
Alliance & Leicester Premier Current Account
I decided that it was about time I looked around to see if I could get a better deal from my bank, having spent 20+ years with the same major player, more out of apathy than loyalty.
I did a bit of research and found that I could open the Alliance and Leicester Premier Current Account on-line and if I used their Premier Switching service to move my direct debits and standing orders, they would match my overdraft limit with my current bank, subject to certain conditions, give me a minimum overdraft of £250 and not charge me any fees for going over my overdraft limit during the switching period.
Additional benefits are £100 for opening my account, FREE European annual multi-trip travel insurance(for eligible account holders up to the age of 65) and a linked Plus...
