Advantages: modern learning resource centre
Disadvantages: some departments not very good due to lack of research

...The university of hertfordshire is one of the "new" universities in UK. But believe me it proves that new can be gold as well. It has an excellent learning resource centre, one of the best in the whole of UK. It has 4 research rating in departments like computer science and astronomy. The university is particularly good in fields of science, engineering and computers. ...As a fresher starting at this university in September this year I can say that the University is a great place to study. The whole experience that University life has offered so far has been brilliant and the University of Hertfordshire is fully equipped to offer all students a fab experience. The main draw to the University (academically) is the fact that courses can be mixed and matched; students originally planning to study history can find themselves studying as different language or accountancy! This diversity is encouraged in the University allowing students to choose options for themselves which they wouldn't have thought possible. These opportunities are given to all students. Before accepting the offer to go Worcester I travelled to it to investigate it and to see if it was for me. After travelling around some of the other universitys that I got into I came to the conclusion that this one was more for me conpared to any of the others. Astronomy at the University of Hertfordshire

Advantages: The best course in the country
Disadvantages: You won't want to leave!

Take it from me, I graduated in 2000 which isn't bad considering I originally didn't want to go there (Another story for another time)! I chose to study Astronomy and I was not disappointed. The course is well devised and is constantly being updated as new discoveries are made. The first year of the course introduces the basic aspects of astronomy as well as highlighting the physics behind everything. Advantages: Great friendly city, cheap living, good reputation, excellent computer facilities

There are 29 clusters currently provided by ISS (the university's computer network people) with over 1600 computers between them. I am currently sat in a rather large cluster with many, many computers free. ISS also provide screens telling you where computers are free, if the cluster of your first choice is full; so you can pretty much always find a computer if you want one! The University of Birmingham

Advantages: Great teaching, facilities, opportunites and social life

...So, having just finished at Nottingham Trent University it made perfect sense to make this brief review on the place...trust me if I reviewed every aspect of life here that I've experienced it would equate to the length of War & Peace! Trent is officially the leading "new" university in the country and is predominantly a city-based campus, with two other campuses located at Clifton (about 5 miles south of the city) and Brackenhurst (a very rural campus based to the north-east). I spend three years there and had an awesome time. In my first year I was based at the Simpsons Halls of Residence, which are in the Lenton area of Nottingham. ...Having been a fresher here at bath for 8 weeks now I feel the need, nay, duty to write a review on the university. I've already done a freshers review on "things beginning with F" if you want to hear about how great (or rather average) freshers week was. But this is going to focus more on the university. I'm currently on a 4 year physics masters course here at Bath. -------------------- Reputation -------------------- I don't believe in league tables and all that rubbish. The trend seems to be that the more time the university spends on fiddling it's figures to make it look good, the less time it can spend on teaching. I didn't apply to Oxford or Cambridge for two reasons. Firstly, I wouldn't be able to get in.
