HAMBURGER UNION GARRICK STREET LONDON
Review of Hamburger Union, London by
Wisegirl
Advantages: FAST EFFICIENT SERVICE AND GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS
Disadvantages: WOULD PREFER SEATING WITH BACKS RATHER THAN STOOLS
...and spacious and you could look out at the world passing by whilst resting your feet and enjoying your meal.
We didn't wait long at all for the food and the server came back after a while to make sure that everthing was ok. This restaurant is in an excellent position for all the West End Theatres and you can be sure that if you want to fit a decent meal in before a show that it will be served promptly, which is more than can be said for some of the places around there.
Now, the menu(most important)

The Union Burger with ketchup, mayo, red onion and lettuce £3.95
Cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, red onion and lettuce £4.50
Monterey Jack Cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, red onion and lettuce £5.00

I wear Union Jack thongs thanks to Dot
Review of Dorothy Perkins (Shop) by
MissDirect
Advantages: Reasonable prices, good range of clothes, range of sizes.
Disadvantages: Not incredibly trendy, interiors.
.... Average £30 for a pair of jeans, £25 for a nice going out top, £10 for a casual top.
They sell a nice range of clothes, from smart shirts and trousers for work, to casual tops and jeans. At the moment they have lovely warm jumpers with fur trims and sequins. They also sell glam going out tops.
They keep up to date with trends, such as glittery jeans, but don’t turn the stock over too fast.
They sell a good range of sizes, including a petite range, a tall range, and a Plus range for sizes 16 and over.
They sell lovely jewellery and accessories to match the clothes and these are very often at half price.
They sell knickers at 3 for £6, nice ones with different motifs on such as butterflies and union jacks.
It never gets ridiculously crowded like Top Shop does.
It’s nicely laid out so you don’t get crushed.
They take...

Please join a union and get involved.
Review of Trade Union Representative by
drewish
Advantages: Sense of satisfaction. Helping others. Good training.
Disadvantages: No pay. Frustrating occasionally.
...--- That's all right for you to say, but I can't be bothered. ---
I became a UNISON rep just over a year ago and have thoroughly enjoyed it since then, despite the extra work involved.
If you are not a rep, you will not be kept aware of what is going on in the union, or have the ability to put your point of view across.
--Why should I join then?--
Basically, being in a union gives us the opportunity to use our collective power against the wishes of management to push us ever harder in the quest for more profits / productivity. Unions ultimately have the power to withdraw workers' labour and go on strike. This is very much a last resort.
Joining a union is a bit like an insurance policy. Most of the time you will not need it, but when push comes to shove and you are threatened with redundancy or a pay cut, then the union...

Credit Unions credit where credit's due
Review of Credit Unions by
Bevdav
Advantages: Cheap interest on loans
Disadvantages: some collection point time may be during the day
...Credit unions! Why don't we use them more than we do. Is it because they have some stigma related to them? Maybe, but I think if a few more of us considered having a savings account with them the banks might just start noticing a few customers closing their savings accounts.
I joined our local credit union in Stockport, my mum joined first and gave me some info about them and it seemed a good idea. I am hopeless saving money - it goes in the bank pays the bills and back out again - where have I heard that before I may ask.
I only started saving £20 a month, just to see how it all went. Originally I intended to try and get some money saved up to help towards my holiday. All in all it seems to have worked quite well.
Here is my version of what a credit union is and does.
WHAT IS A CREDIT UNION
A credit union is normally...

COFFEE UNION - NO WONDER THE UNIONS ARE FAILING
Review of Coffee Union, Liverpool by
CLAWSON0810
Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: FOOD, COFFEE SERVICE
...Like the previous reviewer I am forced to use Coffee Union at Princes Parade.
I guess that the previous writer was one of the lucky ones. Being a creature of habit I tend to opt for the jacket potato and a latte frappe but this is because the choice of sandwiches is dismal and certainly unappetising.
Breaking the experience into 3 categories, lets start with staff.
The current 'acting' manager is certainly living up to her title - ACTING - because she certainly cannot organise or manage what goes on around her (but she is pleasant which is a plus). First thing in the morning, if you fancy a piece of toast, you can wait anything upto 15 minutes and that is with only 2 or 3 other customers in the shop. Lunch-times and total bedlam reigns - there is/was supposed to be a new system where you gave your name when you ordered...

Union- Regional work
Review of Trade Union Representative by
KarenSioned
Advantages: Make lifelong friends, interesting work, great training
Disadvantages: long hours, no pay
...Hi, Ive been an union member since starting work at Local Government 32 years ago , and heve been an union rep for about ten years now.
My trade union is UNISON.
UNISON is a member led union where members make the decisions on how the union is run.
Each region consists of a Regional committee with members elected from all over that region. It depends on how large your local branch mebership is as to how many representatives you have usually one person per 1,000 members.
To become a regional representative you need to be nominated by your Branch and then elected by your Region onto the various committees.
There are a number of committees at Regional level and they represent the whole cross section of the members.
Theseare called service groups and consist of-
Health and Safety,
Local government,
Health
Higher Education...

Grand Union
Review of Grand Hotel Union Business, Ljubljana by
leofluffy69
Advantages: lovely staff, many facilities, spacious rooms
Disadvantages: expensive
.... It is impossible to look out over Ljubljana without catching a glimpse of the gorgeous castle perched prominently on the hill. The Ljubljanica River flows elegantly down through the city, passing the cobbled streets and many cafes and restaurants. During my time in Slovenia I stayed at the beautiful, elegant Grand Union Hotel. I believe that my holiday was made a lot better due to my stay at the hotel.
***GRAND UNION HOTEL***
The Grand Union Hotel is a four start hotel situated in the centre of Slovenia. The hotel is split into two parts the business part and executive part. There are over 300 rooms in total so it is fairly small and quiet. I was never kept up by late night parties or noisy neighbours. We stayed at the hotel on its 100 year anniversary in 2005 and were very impressed with the service we received. Famous people such as Bill Clinton...

Union City Blues!
Review of Union Street - Erasure by
mark_allen71
Advantages: It's brave and a good introduction to Erasure
Disadvantages: It's pointless if you already know the band
...The new album by Erasure 'Union Street'(their 14th!) is a bit of an enigma, which makes me wonder if the duo have finally run out of ideas, or didn't want to waste them on us.
However for the uninitiated this acoustic (yes pop-pickers you heard me correctly 'ACOUSTIC') album strips down the songs to their bare bones and lets out some of the soul as a sample of what they are capable of.
Just as the band had recaptured some of the form of its 90s heyday with Erasure's return to electro pop heaven, ('Nightbird') Vince Clark and Andy Bell have gone all acoustic on us, just as the Pet Shop Boys recently did, before going back to their synths.
Here is a collection of b-sides and album tracks, redone with 'real' instruments and credible musicians - and way too much slide-guitar.
(The name 'Union Street' is the name of the Brooklyn...

Very Poor service from Norwich Union
Review of Norwich Union Direct by
whitinjl
Advantages: Cheap ( but it seems you get what you pay for)
Disadvantages: Appalling customer service
...I echo the very poor service from Norwich Union. Our car was stolen and recovered but had some damage. We rang the claims dept and they said they wanted to use a repairer that was not local to us. We initially said no as we could not get to it in office hours (they were only open 9-5, Mon to Fri), but agreed when we were told that the car would be picked up, repaired and delivered back. A week later the company that recovered the car rang us to see why it had not been collected and we had to chase NU who seemed unable to answer phone calls. A further 3 weeks later after no communication we rang and were told we had to look at the car before it could be repaired. When we said that we couldn't and had said this initially they eventually agreed to more it to a more local repairer. This took a further 4 weeks. In all it took 11 weeks to get...
