The oldest hotel in Harrogate
Review of Cedar Court Hotel (Harrogate) by  elkiedee

Advantages: Clean, pleasant service, near train station
Disadvantages: A long way from the Conference Centre, a bit boring

...Last week I was an observer at my trade union Women's Conference, and stayed as part of a group booking at the Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate. I thought the hotel was a perfectly pleasant place to stay though I would not go out of my way to stay there again on future visits to Harrogate (I plan to go back in July for completely different reasons). The Hotel The Cedar Court Hotel was apparently Harrogate's first hotel, way back in 1671. This sounds really impressive but I can't pretend that I would have guessed it was so old, and this piece of information is gleaned from the booklet I picked up. It reopened in its present form in 1999. It is a 4 star hotel with 100 bedrooms and 10 Conference/Meeting rooms, a gym, a restaurant, a lounge/ bar and a "24 hour" menu. It is one of a group of 4 Yorkshire hotels, with other branches... Read review

Home is where the heart is, Harrogate
Review of Harrogate (England) by  BUBBLES171

Advantages: A lovely place to visit and live.
Disadvantages: none

...will come to the Pinewood forests. There are little ponds dotted around the gardens and children are allowed to go in them. They also have gigantic tropical plants. One is like a rhubarb leaf and is around 2-3ft in diameter and as a child we would play near them but always respected them as we thought they would gobble us up, never to be seen again. Harrogate is famous for its spa, and in Victorian times it was like a seaside resort but without the sea. They would take to the Turkish Baths for a dip or a sauna. This is also just off Montpelier Parade and is still open to the public today. Shopping in the town centre has improved with the new building that replaced the Old Market. There is an amphitheatre so they can put shows on in the summer outside of here. However a lot of businesses have pulled away from this as rents have hit... Read review

DRIFT AWAY on a 4-Star beach resort Hotel for LESS
Review of Oasis Beach Hotel, Dubai by  Connoisseur_Haggler

Advantages: Located on Jumeriah Beach, comfortable, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, SUPERB VALUE for money and quality for a 4 star hotel
Disadvantages: none really - if you get a sea view room

...the hotel and guests are picked up and dropped back to the hotel. The hotel also runs its own free bus service to Dubai city centre about 5 -6 times a day and back. PRICES Price range for this 4 -star Deluxe hotel range from 650.00 - 1075.00 (UAE Dirham ) if booked directly with the hotel. However, as you know I booked this hotel through Utell booking site and paid only 250 UAE Dirham + 10% tax, which is 275 Dir per day, which is less than £53 per double room, for 2 people, making it less than £30 person including breakfast!! Exchange rate at time of booking: To give you some idea at time of writing £1 = 5.25 Dir Sterling Pound UPDATE 1: 18 Dec. 2004 The Sterling pound is even stronger against the UAE Dir -its now £1 = 7.13 Dir I am going to Dubai again in Feb. 2005 and Jan 2006 and will update this hotel review should I stay... French Culture In Harrogate, Who'd Have Thought It
Review of Hotel du Vin and Bistro, Harrogate by  sghawken

Advantages: Great location, even greater wine cellar
Disadvantages: Breakfast was not quite to the standard I was expecting.

...Hotel du Vin are an exclusive brand of boutique style restaurants beginning with their first Hotel in Winchester back in 1994 this popular brand have spread across the UK at a rate of knots. With Hotels in Harrogate, Henley On Thames, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow, and Tunbridge Wells. The next 12 months are going to be one of the most exciting in HdV’s history with Hotels opening in Cheltenham, Cambridge, York, Poole and Newcastle. HdV offer the hotel guest an exclusive experience far different from any other hotel chain in the UK with the exception of course of Malmaison its sister company. Make yourself at Home in Harrogate
Review of Harrogate in General by  MonkeyMoo

Advantages: Beautiful, peaceful-ish
Disadvantages: Can be rough at night

...or the Fashion Fair) you wont have any problem – just drive into town and pick your style. Posh hotels are everywhere – the Moat House is a huge mirrored glass and red brick monstrosity right next to the conference centre (HIC), the Old Swan is a gorgeous ivy covered building, the Crown is another lovely old building, Harrogate Spa Hotel is conveniently located smack bang in the middle of town, as is the Imperial next door and the Majestic has gorgeous large gardens. All these are very centrally located and all are very large offering conference and party facilities and reasonably-ish priced – when I stayed at the Crown it was about £60 per room per night. Then there are the 36,000 smaller hotels and bed and breakfasts. Ok, that might be stretching the truth a little but we really do make the most of the annual tourist invasion lol... Read review

A Warm Yorkshire Welcome
Review of Garden House Hotel, Harrogate by  JoannaPiano

Advantages: Quiet, good value accommodation with excellent breakfast.
Disadvantages: A smallish room, but perfectly adequate for me.

...for a single room with ensuite shower and toilet, breakfast included. The other rooms are 2 doubles ensuite, 2 twins ensuite, and 2 singles with shower but which share a toilet on the landing. The owner Kath did not ask for a deposit, but requested that I confirm my booking by letter or email, which I later did. As I was travelling by train, she advised me that the hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the station, but that taxis wait outside the station if I needed one. I told her I expected to arrive between 1 and 2p.m., but I had the impression she would be very flexible on arrival times as long as they know roughly when to expect you. Hello Harrogate I was quite excited to get off the train at Harrogate. There are other parts of Yorkshire that I know very well, but it was the first time I'd visited this town. I decided to walk... You've got 2 love the kingdom of hearts!
Review of Kingdom Hearts 2 (PS2) by  Stunt101

Advantages: Problems from the previous games have been fixed, great cameo-list, fantastic presentation with gorgeous CG cutscenes, top notch voice acting and much more.
Disadvantages: The gameplay, while indeed great, is weak compared to the rest of the game.

...big feet and a small head). Also the frame rate never chops up, even if there's lots of enemies on-screen. But the real star of the graphical showcase is the full motion cutscenes, which look absolutely stunning, the look a bit like the cutscenes in Final Fantasy X. It's just a shame there's only four cutscenes throughout the whole game. In the end KH2 is one of the best looking PS2 games to ever grace this platform. -(The Sound)- The sound is also fantastic. The voice acting is impressive, with Haley Joel Osment returning to do Sora. If you compare Kingdom Heart's Sora with KH2's Sora you'll notice a big difference. Sora sounds more mature than the previous game, as it has been four years since we heard Sora speak last. The rest of the cast is fantastic as well, with most of actors from the movie voicing, including Ming Na... Read review

A comfortable, friendly hotel.
Review of Grants Hotel, Harrogate by  Ohajiki

Advantages: Excellent breakfast, wonderfully friendly, very clean
Disadvantages: Facilities a little basic

...I stayed here for a night in February 2007 as a present from my partner as I grew up in Harrogate. Grants Hotel is a family-run hotel situated near to the conference centre and about five minutes walk from the Turkish Baths and Valley Gardens. The carpark is relatively secure and situated to the rear of the building and it accessed by a driveway which involves a little driving skill to get around. The reception is quite welcoming with plenty of unique furniture, comfortable chairs and personal pictures around rather than the generic historical prints you sometimes see. It also has a 24 hour reception with a wonderfully talkative night porter who also tends the bar in the late evening. I stayed with my partner in the four-poster suite room and the bed was enormous and exceedingly comfortable. The room was nicely laid out... Read review
