...I had been intending to purchase a battery charger for quite a while. In fact I had even dropped hints to certain family members around Christmas time, but to no avail. I was recently reminded of this missing piece of equipment in my life when I rediscovered the PC lead to my digital camera. Remembering that a pair of standard batteries lasted for only about 30 photos in this camera I decided that it was certainly time to invest in a battery charger and some rechargeable batteries. I purchased an Energizer CHDCW8 – 4 battery charger from Argos for just £9.99. This decision was based on several factors, the most important of which was the price and what I considered to be the best value for money. Advantages: Good Long Life Batteries

...This review is for: AA batteries = 2 x (2.8V) and charger for Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh batteries. I bought this charger and batteries to play with my new CD/MP3 player. When arriving home, I opened the box, read the instructions and decided "yes, fairly simple, I'll give it a go". Let me note that there is a switch on this charger, and you can choose either Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh. Fairly simple to understand. So, before plugging them in to charge, I put the switch to the correct side of the charger, and then plugged them in. A red light came on in the right slot, which also happened to be right next to the Ni-Cd, to indicate which side of the switch you choose. Just a coincidence, but I had to think for a moment that maybe it was charging Ni-Cd instead of Ni-Mh. I'm not sure how much of a wise design this is, but that was the only problem I... Read review

Advantages: Very fast charge times, turns off automatically.

...First point, this is a review for the Ultra Fast SPRINT charger which I think is slightly different but Ciao do not have page for that one. The Ultra Fast Sprint charger by Uniross is the best. To start with it takes no longer than 2 hours to recharge batteries and alot of the time it does it in less. The other main advantage of this charger is that it stops charging automatically when they are fully charged so no more waiting around to turn it off and no more worries about damaging the batteries if you left the charger on by accident. It costs £34.99 in Argos but I bought mine off eBay for £20 inc P&P. The reason this one is so expensive though is that it is supplied with 4 2300MaH AA batteries which in simple terms means that these batteries last longer than other rechargeable batteries with a lower MaH. 2300 is the highest you... I purchased this item from Argos and the pack included: An Uniross Photo Battery Charger 4 AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries This pack cost me £17.99 but as one pair of rechargeable batteries were in the region of £6-7, this to me seems quite reasonable (at last, SOMETHING I found to be a bargain!), but since doing some research on the net, I have found the same product to be slightly cheaper on certain websites. ...Everyone owns something which requires batteries. They always run out at awqward times and cost you a ton of money. Then people look at rechargeables and if they dont look at the right ones, they loose out on battery time or could even cause damage to the product. This uniros set is definately good value for mony. Looking around you can pay this much for a charger by itself and half as much for a good set of rechargeable batteries. Ont he charger itself there's an easy to see green/red LED telling you when the charge is complete. This can be easily seen and prevents confusion. The chrage times it provides will depend upon the batteries use, however the ones included can be charged in about 3 hours. The batteries themselves are high quality with a good battery time. The Energizer Universal Charger is not the cheapest on the market, but it appealed to me, because it can recharge many different sizes of battery - AAA, AA, C, D and 9V. For AAA, AA, C and D sizes it can recharge 4 at a time, or 2 of one size and 2 of another. It can recharge 2 9V batteries at once. The charger can recharge both types of rechargeable battery - NiMH and NiCD. If in doubt as to which type would suit your appliance it's probably best to seek advice from the manufacturer. 9V batteries are placed in the two square shaped recharging bays visible on the outside of the appliance. ...I bought one of these about 10 months ago, as I own a power hungry digital camera. I paid about £27 for this from PC world, I have seen them on-line since, i.e. Amazon for £24.99. What do you get? Upon struggling to open the blister pack (a Stanley knife had to be used), there was the charger its self, a car lighter socket adapter, a 12v mains adapter and 4 off 1700mA Ni-NH batteries. What is the quality like? The charger is approx 110x70x15mm, and has a smoked plastic cover, this has a tendency to ‘ping’ off, since it opens from the left not the right. Battery clips are a bit stiff but robust. A slide switch is provided to select 2 or 4 battery charge. The car adapter and 12V supply (700mA, Class2, 15W 230V) seem pretty standard commercial grade. The 12V supply does not have a universal input, so it can only be used in the UK... Read review
