Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College
Review of Buckingham Chilterns University College by
sas
Advantages: Near to London
Disadvantages: Not alot of Nightlife
...Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College is located in High Wycombe1 I am a third year student at BCUC studying for a BSc in Design Technology with Management as my choosen minors.
The University has several campuses and as most Universities depending on the course and which faculty that course falls into, determines as to which site you end up at. I was lucky enough to have all my lectures at the mian High Wycombe campus. I can only really tell you about five courses, some in brief, :
Design Technology (DT)
Product Design (PD)
CAD/CAM
Graphics
Textile Design
As I study DT I will start with this. My course actually shares with two other courses of similar nature, these being Product Design and CAD/CAM, and out of these three i believe that DT is more interesting and diverse.
In my first year i had acedemic as well...

University College Chester Review
Review of Chester College - University by
dizzyali
Advantages: pretty campus, very supportive staff, v close to city centre
Disadvantages: thin walls in accommodation, small union
...I decided to go to Chester rather than MMU at the last minute as I couldn't get accommodation in Manchester and also decided the Chester course was more what I wanted. I'm at the end of my first year now and it has been an interesting, enjoyable and educating year.
The university does quite a wide range of degree courses which are currently accredited by the University of Liverpool. The college is currently in the process of becoming a university in its own rights and will eventually have its own degree awarding powers. Degrees range from sports science, computing, psychology, the sciences and maths to teaching, nursing, english and christian youth work. The college does not do degrees in music, engineering etc simply because it does not have the resources to do so. My degree is in Multimedia Technology which is based...

A weekend in Dublin
Review of Dublin (Ireland) by
Kezza88
Advantages: Friendly, smiley & relaxed people
Disadvantages: Rain and more rain!
...and touristy - you won't learn a lot, but it was a good introduction to the making of Irish Whiskey (the Scots spell it without an "e"). You even get a taste at the end. Mine went to the MOTH, who was more than grateful given how cold it was outside. I think the fact that the first whisky I had was Glenfiddich Green Label has spoilt me for drinking any other whisky/whiskey. You can also visit the Guinness Storehouse (Î13.50 - www.guinnessstorehouse.com), and do the tour & taste there as well. One of my workmates went in November last year, and she really enjoyed it - the views of Dublin from the top of the building are apparently fantastic, but the tour is a bit slick & touristy like Jameson's.
One other famous sight is Trinity College, and the Book of Kells (Î11.00 - www.tcd.ie/Library/oldlib.htm) You can walk around Trinity for free...

Mad Cabbies Rough Guide To Dublin
Review of Dublin in general by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: See opinion
Disadvantages: See opinion
...in the City Centre alone to keep the most avid culture vulture happy for weeks.
You have the oldest University in Ireland, Trinity College, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth the First of England. The architecture of this edifice alone makes it worth a visit, and it also houses the Book of Kells, the ancient Christian illuminated manuscript, which dates back to the middle ages.
The Trinity Library is one of the finest to be found anywhere in the world, and the Old Dining Hall where the Fellows partake of Commons every evening is magnificent.
To wander around the Trinity grounds is for all the world like being in either Oxford or Cambridge in the U.K., and indeed, Trinity still has close connections with both these esteemed seats of learning.
~ ~ Just round the corner in Merrion Square you have the National Gallery of Ireland, with its...

The Colleges of Cambridge University
Review of Cambridge University by
ashford
Advantages: High scholastic standards. Many are beautiful
Disadvantages: Very competitive
...The University of Cambridge, one of the most famous and renowned universities in the world has a long and illustrious history, and is organised on a collegiate system. Many well known figures in history are graduates of Cambridge including Wordsworth, Bertrand Russell, LOrd Keynes, and former Indian prime minister Mr Nehru and nobel laureates such as AK Sen. What follows is a short round-up of some of its well-known colleges and their famous former students.
Clare
Clare College, is the second oldest college, originally founded in 1326 as University Hall. In 1338 Lady Elizabeth of Clare refounded the college calling it Clare Hall, it was renamed Clare College in 1856. It is one of the most beautiful colleges and is hugely popular. Famous alumni include Hugh Latimer (Protestant reformer), Siegfried Sassoon, Lord Cornwallis...

5 Go Mad in Dublin
Review of Isaacs Hostel, Dublin by
zoe_page
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not cheerful
...Or rather, 305+ go mad there. This Saturday and Sunday ISTO 2004 took place at University College Dublin (UCD), and more than 300 trampolining university students descended on the city for a long weekend. 14 of us flew in from our uni, and though we booked well before Christmas, we had to split ourselves between two hostels, such was the demand for cheap accommodation in Dublin for those dates. I ended up in Issac’s, which was my first (and probably last) experience of a youth hostel.
Getting There
I flew in alone from Blackpool, landing a couple of hours after the others who had all travelled together, and immediately hopped onto an airlink bus. These run at regular intervals and cost €5.50, but I had a multi-day rambler ticket, so was able t | | |
