Marriott County Hall, London

Advantages: Central location, friendly attentive staff
Disadvantages: expensive drinks

...& parnips and banoffee pie to follow. We found the per head price which included half a bottle of pinot grigio was very reasonable compared to prices here in Scotland. Overall we had no complaints. the only downside was the price of drinks. Two glasses of wine cost almost £15. I would recomend anyone to use this hotel as a base for a weekend away. It is a two minute walk from Westminster tube, right next door to the BA London Eye and central for everything. If you are looking for a romantic weekend then the County Hall is the one for you. There is a spa on site to pamper you (payable directly) Or if you would like a very special wedding or civil partnership then use this hotel. The events team & banqueting manager do everything they can to help and nothing is too much bother. Whatever you do have a brilliant time at this hotel....

Some of the best view in London...

Advantages: A luxurious hotel in a fantastic position
Disadvantages: very pricey

...I visited this hotel during summer time when my grandparents were visiting London for their 80th birthdays. This was a lovely stay as my grandparents hadn't been to London in years and my grandfather was very keen to ride on the London eye whilst my grandmother was keen for me to find a hotel in which as she phrased it, 'that he will have to dig deep into his pockets for'. She was aiming for nothing less than luxury! Obviously there are a huge number of hotels available in central London but this one had to be special and my grandparents insisted that we all stayed over in a hotel together despite the fact that we were only further down the river in Putney and we therefore needed two rooms, one family room & one twin room for them. Eventually I came across a great deal from The Marriott County hall. We could have our two rooms...

London College of Communication - hmm...

Advantages: Very hip, excellent facilities for each subject area, people on the whole very sociable and friendly
Disadvantages: It's in Elephant & Castle!! Not much of a 'community' feel due to it being in London, terrible Freshers arrangements

...the University of Arts incorporates not only LCC but the London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins, and both Chelsea and Camberwell Colleges of Art it is difficult for there to be any feeling even remotely community-like with the exception perhaps of being in halls. However, if you?re looking for an interesting and different-from-the-norm place to study, and perhaps are not too bothered about feeling part of a community and have maybe had experience of a large city environment, then LCC could be for you. Either way, think it through carefully (as, again, I didn?t.) I hope this review has helped you in some way, shape or form. p.s. Although I have put that I do recommmend the college, it's mainly because they won't let me be indifferent, grr...if I were to reccommend, it would only be to the right person, and so you've basically gotta figure...

My day's at County Hall

Advantages: Location, price for location
Disadvantages: No parking, poor views

...At the end of last year i needed to take a business trip to London with my boss, and the company has an account with premier travel inn. So we were booked in to County Hall for 2 nights. First Impression ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On arriving at the Hotel, the location was great, less than 100 yards from the front entrance was the 'London Eye', and everything else the south bank has to offer. Inside the hotel the atmosphere and decor was pleasant, with a few armchairs in the reception area for the weary traveller. Checking in was easy, and we were given our room cards, which were also needed to be able to use the lifts. You couldn't call a lift without swiping your card. Once entering my room, i was happy enough with the room. It of course was 'No Frills', but it was more than comfortable for my purpose. Room ~~~~~ As i have already...

London College of Fashion

Advantages: Free form teaching
Disadvantages: No university experience

...When I was in high school, the thought of University was really really far off. It had been built into this great thing, an opportunity for me to really develop to my full potential. I would meet a wide range of people, find my own niche perhaps and learn about all the things that my high school couldn't or wouldn't teach us. After a severe process of application through UCAS and exams and acceptances ( and rejections ofcourse ) I finally chose to go to the one school I applied to outside of UCAS : The London College of Fashion. I thought that it would give me everything that a conventional university wouldn't, so instead of going to Bristol or Durham which I probably should have, I made a somewhat " distinguished" choice, I guess you could say. The London College of Fashion is part of the London Institute ( which is comprised of 5...

Childs Hall at Reading University

Advantages: see below
Disadvantages: see below

...This is not about the University of Reading as a whole, just about the hall of residence that I am currently staying in, which is called Childs Hall. I honestly can't remember which Halls I selected on the accommodation form, but I said that I wanted catered hall, and would quite like a sink, so this is where I was placed. The first and most important thing I have to say about Childs is that it is HUGE. Not so much in building size, but in student numbers. There are around 500 students living here, which means it is a very daunting place, especially for a fresher like myself. The dining hall especially is daunting, it is a 400 seater place, so resembles something like an ornate aircraft hanger! Not exactly the cosiest of places.. The sheer volume of people here means that is a very noisy place, so if you come here don't expect to...

County Hall

Advantages: Good price, friendly staff, good location, good meals, quiet
Disadvantages: No wheelchair access at the front

...At the beginning of October 2008 I had to travel to Londn to attend a job interview. I wanted a reasonably priced hotel that was close to my interview location and also that offered good access to some of the London tourist attractions. The Premier Inn County Hall Hotel fit the bill and also delivered so much more. I caught a taxi from the train station and the first thing that I noticed when getting there was that the part of Belvedere Road in which the hotel is situated has barriers at either end so only traffic that has a reason for being there is allowed in...this makes the front of the hotel quieter than most places in London. The building also makes a rather striking impression as it is the listed building which used to hold the GLC. The only problem with this is that the entrance to the hotel is up a short flight of stairs...

London Institute gains University Status.

Advantages: Good student vibe, teaching standard.
Disadvantages: Area slightly run down, some outdated computer equipment

...The London Institute is comprised of five distinguished colleges. They make up. Camberwell college of Art and Design. Central St Martins College. Chelsea College of Art and Design. London College of Fashion (LCF) London College of Printing (LCP) The London College of Printing is split into five main schools of study. You can study a variety of courses ranging from access courses, BA Hons and Masters. You can study book art, graphics, marketing, management studies and retail. The list goes on. I have been in attendance at The London College of Printing for almost a year. The college has over 9000 students so there are a few faces. I am studying Marketing and Advertising at the main site in Elephant & Castle most famously known for it pink shopping centre erected in the 70s. Although the area is slightly run down there...

Southampton university Halls, what a great range

Advantages: Excellent range of Accommodation
Disadvantages: Getting a bit costly?

...Southampton University has got a very diverse selection of Halls of Residence. They range from the small and cosy St Margaret's to the absolutely humungous Glen Eyre. I was a Southampton Student from 1987 until 1993,where I studied German and then for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and I had the privilege (?!) to be a resident of three of the halls, and so I thought that I would offer a very humble opinion of each of them. 1987-88 Fresher year- Glen Eyre Hall- a very big hall with around 900 students at the time. Great bar, great disco, shop, launderettes and its very own radio station that I could not get. Wide ranging rooms from the old blocks to the 'New Courts' to the terrace. Snack bar is ok- I worked in there for a time- very busy and very good for someone who wants a hectic social life. 1990-91 Finals Year...

LONDON'S CALLING

Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room

...eateries/drinking places and chose 372, which offers carvery selection. I was surprise how hot and fresh the food was. Not only that it was tasty too! We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. That said I ALWAYS OVER cook my veggies. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Our meal for two with drinks cost £29) Hotel: the hotel it situated in the Strand which is in central London and easy to walk to theatres such as the Aldwych, Lyceum, and many more. Come out the front of the hotel and turn right, and you?ll be heading towards Trafalgar square with Nelson, bear left and you...
