Nottingham University lives up to reputation...
Review of Nottingham University by  lizzie_haycocks

Advantages: Beautiful Campus, Good Reputation, Good Student lifestyle
Disadvantages: Campus far from town, Student bar not great...

...and it does have a good atmosphere, but then you'll probably use it most in the first year before you venture off campus. After that, Nottingham will provide you with a range of clubs and bars for all sorts of tastes. I recommend Snug and the Bomb if you appreciate somthing a little less cheesy and a little more authentic in terms of a night life exprerience. Having said that., there is also plenty of cheese in Ocean. There are also some good rock and indie venues for those of you who like it a bit more hardcore. The jazz, soul, funk, RnB type vibes are distinctly lacking though (except the Bomb) which I think is the best club in Nottingham. Accommodation wise, the first year will be spent in one of 14 halls if you're on University park. The standard of accommodation is really very good. If you want en-suite, you can probably get it. Halls also... Read review

Nottingham Trent University
Review of Nottingham Trent University by  carl.mcqueen

Advantages: Great Uni. Fact!
Disadvantages: Disadvantages?!

...So, having just finished at Nottingham Trent University it made perfect sense to make this brief review on the place...trust me if I reviewed every aspect of life here that I've experienced it would equate to the length of War & Peace! Trent is officially the leading "new" university in the country and is predominantly a city-based campus, with two other campuses located at Clifton (about 5 miles south of the city) and Brackenhurst (a very rural campus based to the north-east). I spend three years there and had an awesome time. In my first year I was based at the Simpsons Halls of Residence, which are in the Lenton area of Nottingham. Although not the nicest area of the city, the halls were certainly some of the best. Having had coursemates and friends who were located at other halls such as Hampden and Sandby which are much closer... Read review

Nottingham University
Review of Nottingham University by  Miskin

Advantages: beautiful campus, amazing nightlife, great halls
Disadvantages: a lot of ra's

...I am a current student at Nottingham University (having just finished first year) and it has been everything I expected and more. A big selling point of the University is of course the huge beautiful green campus, which has won various awards. Its focal point is the lake next to the trent & portland buildings which is really pretty, especially at night when the trent and portland buildings are lit up. Life in first year revolves around campus, which is about a 15 minute bus journey from the city centre. There are numerous catered halls on campus, and also a large self catered student village 'Broad Gate Park' right next door. The halls make for a close knit campus community and the social side of things is great. We have the best of both worlds, as we're not claustrophobic being constantly in the midst of the city centre, while we... Read review

Nottingham University - a graduate review
Review of Nottingham University by  Alex1226

Advantages: Fantastic campus, strong academic reputation
Disadvantages: Expense of NTL in the first year - suggest a contract mobile phone instead

...I graduated from the university of Nottingham in June 2000 after studying for three years for a BA in Economics and Philosophy, and I hope to offer my experience to anyone thinking of either taking a similar course, or indeed intending to apply to the university itself. I decided on Nottingham because of its academic reputation, and the beautifully serene campus upon which most of the faculties and halls lie, and I decided on the two antithetical subjects of economics, which incorporates assumptions in model-building, and philosophy, which assumes nothing. The first year was spent in Rutland Hall, a mixed, smallish hall with a long 'Karni' reputation, with my room overlooking the gorgeous levels of the campus, surrounded by foxes and squirrels. I could not have hoped for a better hall, although the 'Karni' atmosphere became... Read review

Thanks Nottingham!
Review of Nottingham University by  j22o2

Advantages: Excellent campus, good rep and generally awesome
Disadvantages: campus is massive

...Having experienced two Universities in as many years I can definitely say Nottingham is awesome. After a fairly unsuccessful first attempt at Uni elsewhere I decided to venture to pastures new and ended up transferring to the University of Nottingham. Having visited Nottingham quite a bit I knew the city itself was pretty ok, contrary to popular belief you can actually go out into the city and not fall victim to any random acts of violence. Campus - University Park So I started out in Nottingham as a second year in September and have been enjoying it ever since. I'm based at University Park which is the focal point of the university for over 26,000 students. One of the most impressive things about the university is this amazing campus. The surroundings are really conducive to education; you have the benefits of being close... Read review

Forget trying to get to Oxbridge - Nottingham's way much more fun
Review of Nottingham University by  moophead

Advantages: The campus, people, bars, clubs, reputation...
Disadvantages: Isis

...Nottingham University is the most oversubscribed University in the country and having spent 2 years there so far, it's not hard to understand why. Nottingham is mixes campus university life with being close to the city centre very well and there's so much to experience when you're there. You might be nervous about starting at University but after fresher's week where you'll probably drink more alcohol than you ever have before you'll be wondering why you were ever nervous. When you're choosing a hall, it doesn't really matter where you end up because they're all brilliant but Derby and Rutland are among the most popular. There are 16 bars around the main campus which you'll no doubt be visiting a lot during your 1st year, and while the student union bars aren't the biggest compared to other universities they're still able to provide... this is a top university destination
Review of Nottingham University by  suecowsill

Advantages: great campus, good accommodation, location-friendly people, good teaching
Disadvantages: high entry requirements, oversubscribed

...As a former student of Nottingham University, (although I didn't graduate from it- I defected to the OPEN) I have always had a soft spot for it. I have noticed that the demand for places has gone up spectacularly and to be honest, I can see why. The campus is perfect for those students who have probably never been away from home before. It is far enough away from the centre to make this into a tight knit little community but close enough to make a night on the town a good idea. The campus itself is safe and beautiful. Squirrels bounding across the path in front of you as you walk up to lectures is always a treat. Since I left the university, I have returned with my husband who rcame to stay with me as my boyfriend when I was there. Walking around the lake has always been very romantic for us. My children now have an affection... Read review

Fair City. Fair Girls. Fair University
Review of Nottingham University by  bettybee

Advantages: Excellent Campus
Disadvantages: You may not be good enough to get in

...A wise person once said that the fairest girls come from Nottinghan. A few miles outside the centre of Nottingham stands the University of Nottingham. The University stands in extensive grounds with good views across the city available here. You need never leave the campus is you do not wish to as there are plenty of facilities here. Sports are well catered for with fair and foul weather pitches. There is a swimming pool and gym facilities. There are places to go for walk. The university park is well used by those who live locally with a play park and a boating lake. There is an art gallery with a very plesant restaurant also used by the locals. All you need to buy is available on campus with union shops travel agents and book shops to name a few things. There is an extensive library. And we cannot forget... Read review

Nottingham...the city with everything
Review of Nottingham in general by  Thehonesttruth

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...INTRODUCTION ******************* I've lived in Nottingham for around 14 years, and even after all that time living here I'm always finding something new to do, somewhere new to visit, and something interesting. It's a vibrant city with an eclectic mix of people and places. Whatever kind of person you are, there will be something to please you here. Nottingham, thanks to its two universities and multitude of colleges plays host to a large number of students, which noticeably boosts the cities population during termtime Nottingham plays host to a wide range of cultures and religions, resulting in a large number of unusual shops worth visiting, from the Hyson Green area of Nottingham, where you're sure to find delicious Indian food and sumptuous sari fabrics, to the many Chinese supermarkets where you can pick up all manner... Nottingham - The World's Best City
Review of Nottingham in general by  rabbiter

Advantages: A great city to explore
Disadvantages: The usual

...interesting Tales of Robin Hood (Blue Peter Badge Winners get in FREE!). If it is shopping you would like we can provide with four major shopping centres, although I've only ever visited the first two, the Victoria Centre, the Broadmarsh shopping centre, the Exchange Arcade and the Flying Horse Walk. The Bridlesmith Gate area is the place for designer shops, and is also the home of the original Paul Smith boutique. In 2004 we were voted the 5th Best Shopping area in the UK, and we've got Robin Hood, so what more would you want? On a recent visit to my cousin's house down south, I noticed the lack of multiculture within the city, it was a white city, I had never really noticed the mix in the Nottingham before that, we are blessed with many people coming to our city from other countries, often to attend one of the universities, Nottingham...
