...In the UK we currently already pay extorniate prices for our petrol so why would i recommend paying even more for what some believe to be nothing more than just advertising hype?
Well, i can only speak from my own experiences in regards to Shells Optimax unleaded but for me paying the extra 4p a litre more is a small price for a far superior product.
'What is Shell Optimax?'
Shell Optimax is a higher octane fuel available in both diesel and unleaded, standard unleaded petrol has an octane (RON) rating of 95 whereas Optimax is rated at 98 RON, basically what this translates into for you and me is that Optimax burns alot faster, cleaner and also offers a far superior performance to 'most' cars especially noticable when pulling away from lights or round-abouts whilst also offering a better mid-speed accelaration improvement.

Review of Shell Optimax Petrol
...What has gone wrong? Ten years ago, Irish people flocked in their tens of thousands each week across the border to Northern Ireland and across the sea to Holyhead to shop for absolutely everything, because food, beer, TVs and practically everything else was about 30% cheaper. Petrol was no exception, with huge queues at filling stations just inside the Northern Irish border.
Now, unbelievably, the opposite is in evidence. Unleaded petrol is currently 50p (sterling) per litre here in the Republic, while diesel (which I believe is more expensive than petrol in the UK) is a mere 44 pence sterling. As a result, all but the most die-hard unionists are now crossing the border to fill up their tanks and do their weekly shopping, resulting in millions of pounds in lost revenue to the British Exchequer.
So what went wrong? Basically...
...I had my 1997 ford fiesta 1.25 zetec for a year. it was black and i feel it has reasonable looks, especially if you invest in sum alloy wheels etc. I purchased it 1 and a half years ago for a mere £600. it was a manual and ran on unleaded petrol. I found it to be very economical and very reliable, I got well over 45mpg which was quite good because I was doing long journeys around 500 miles and would only take just over a tank of fuel. It had a little rust under the arches, Ive heard this is a common problem but everything else was good bar the usual wear and tear.also the insurnace is low which is great for 1st time drivers as i was. If your looking for a cheap little car then i think this car would be a good for you....

Review of Ford Fiesta 1.25
Advantages: A great car from all angles Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked
...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs.
I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for.
I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in.
The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair.
The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Advantages: powerful yet small engine, roomy inside, smooth ride, smooth gear change Disadvantages: there is a common fault that causes water to enter the car through the rubber seals, but it is easily and cheaply cured.
...The ford fiesta is one of my all time favourite vehicles - reliable, economical and just what I wanted for my first car. Having only driven the old type fiesta up until now I wasn't prepared for my new fiesta fusion - for such a small engine it is surprisingly nippy and powerful.
It's roomy inside and attractive on the outside. Fitted with an immobiliser and radio safety device I also found it to be relatively low to insure, and fiestas are hard to break into due to the out of sight door locks.
Safety wise a driver's airbag is fitted, and recent independant tests proved it to be one of the safest cars to drive, with the nissan micra one of the least safe.
A tank full of unleaded petrol just seems to last ages and ages (about 50 to the gallon) compared to other cars which is brilliant since I'm a student. I also love...

Review of Ford Fiesta 1.25
Advantages: The VW label/brand Disadvantages: Poor finish, poor dealer service support
...On paper this is a good solid vehicle. Buyers however should be aware of the following experiences from an owner who is a bit so so about the car
* Failed catalyctic converter(the mid. one) after 3 years
* Four visits to service bay to correct electronic ignition faults resulting in replacement of 2 fuel sensors (£200 plus --and max inconvenience)
* Failure of sales dept to warn that this vehicle only-repeat only- runs effectively on super unleaded petrol.
* The wing mirrors do NOT completely turn in-thus are exposed to damage--and the potential of very expensive replacement
* The windscreen wipers are not retractable away from the windscreen for cleaning . This is a crazy design fault!!
* Insufficient acceleration-but good running at higher speeds over 60mph
* Average MPG- no more than 38MPG on a long trip. 25MPG for in twon...
Advantages: Fun, cheap to run and insure, stylish and safe. Disadvantages: Leaky sunroofs.

The car itself was a dream to drive, handles really well and for a 1.2 16v with only 75bhp was quite nippy, although it was rather slow if you were carrying any weight.
The power delivery of the engine is very smooth and gradual and the gearbox is also smooth although the clutch is very light, maybe a little too light.
As for the brakes, they are absolutely fantastic, not at all what you would expect on a 1.2 Clio!
For a car of such a small price it has lots of extras such as the Climate Control, Auto Lights, Auto wipers, features that you would only expect to find on large more expensive cars.
As standard the Clio's (2004 on) come with Michelin energy tyres fitted that are really good, I replaced the tyres on my Clio with Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 tyres...

To get the full info you need to register your email address, but there is no cost. You then get the details on an individual basis for each petrol station. You can get details for unleaded, super unleaded, LRP, LPG, diesel and premium diesel.
You can even get email alerts for up to three post code and fuel combinations, and get the info daily if you want. The information is sent in the middle of the day, and relates to data from the previous day, so is sometimes a day out of date.
I find it useful when travelling areas away from home when I'm not familiar with the area. The info may be a slightly out of date by the time you get there, but it still...

...I passed my test in February, 1998. Although I had been driving my Parent's car, I really wanted a car of my own. A neighbour of mine was selling his Ford Seirra 2.0l Inj. Ghia privately and I decided to have a look at it. Although it is classed as an "old car", being E Registration (1988), it was classier than what I had been driving previously. Being the Ghia model, it has all the mod cons - Sunroof, Electric windows (front and back), Inflatable Seats, Electronic Antenna, Alarm System, 15in Alloy Wheels. It is a very comfortable car to drive, and although being an Injection Engine is quite economical, using Unleaded Petrol and getting around 35 miles per gallon. I have spent a lot of time in my Seirra, and have made the effort to keep her looking good, and she has repayed me by being extremely reliable. To any people out there...

Review of Ford Sierra 2.0
Advantages: Lots of space Disadvantages: Would you use it to 4X4
...better if it was a split boot with one part moving up and the other part down.
This car can be very expensive if you are buying new as all Hondas are but I would advise you to get an ex model car as these have been driven by a lot of people but have a lot of extra features and are usually priced well, and if you can haggle you will be able to get the price down a nice bit.
This handles on the road; the speed really kicks in after 40, but no idea what it would handle like on a 4X4 track.
Very good safety rating.
Now for the specifics about the car, I have had to do some research into this as I feel if the car goes when I want it to go and stop when I want it to stop its good enough but here it goes.
