Unreal Tournament III - A charm or a curse?
Review of Unreal Tournament III (PC) by
LazersX
Advantages: Good gameplay, New weapons and vehicles, Polished feel
Disadvantages: Too similar to older games, graphics far too intensive, Not many changes.
...A good game, but needs more content.
Many of the people who play this game have played UT2004, the predecessor of of Unreal tournament III and may of been shocked at this games high graphic usage, meaning that if you only have a mediocre graphics card, you're not going to enjoy this game much.
The game play is good, and i like the new editions to the vehicle arsenal and your weapons.
Not to mention the hoverboard, but overall it's the same UT engine, which is both good and bad.
The good is that overall, it still feels like the balanced engine it always has, but the bad is this doesn't allow for significant changes in game play. The new vehicles add an interesting edge, with the necris, and the additions are fun to pilot and use.
The mine layer is one of my favourites, with it's ability to lay down the "slow-mo" cube, a device...

Unreal Tournament III
Review of Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3) by
wee_generation
Advantages: Fast and chaotic FPS.
Disadvantages: single player mode is stale.
...Unreal Tournament III on the PS3 is the most chaotic, frantic Multiplayer shooter you will play period. Primarily a PC based game, this has stood out on the PlayStation 3 due to the developers allowing the use of user generated content on the system. This content can be found and downloaded on various community websites giving everlasting life to the game. It comes in all forms from new character skins, weapons, modes and even whole new user created maps.
I must say though, this is a multiplayer game, the single player campaign uses a multiplayer style meaning your playing through level after level of deathmatch, capture the flag and team deathmatch against AI opponents. This leaves you feeling stale after half an hour so unless you have your system hooked up to the internet i wouldn't even consider picking this up.

Unreal Tournament!
Review of Unreal Tournament 3 (UT III) (Xbox 360) by
themegmugster
Advantages: Pure Simple Style, Extremely Fun, Super Fast Gaming
Disadvantages: Lack of Numbers Online, Poor Online Lobby System
...I loved the very first Unreal Tournament, I had it on both PC and Dreamcast, I wasn't into online gaming back in those days but it was good enough to engross me in the regular campaign and to just mess around with bots. Since those good old days the more recent Unreal Tournament games have been a bit of a let down in my opinion: For example, Unreal Tournament 2003 was a waste of time, in my opinion the guns got worse, and the game wasn't as simple and quick as it used to be. Things livened up when Unreal Tournament 2004 was released, with the addition of vehicles, this game provided a good romp but wasn't as adrenaline pumped and pure havoc as the original title.
When Unreal Tournament 3 was set to be released I was optimistic, I believed that finally there would be an excellent follow up to the great original. The story in Unreal...

So Good Its Unreal... Tournament 2004
Review of Unreal Tournament 2004 by
tby4
Advantages: lushous graphics, loads of maps, new game types, vehicles
Disadvantages: good computer needed to run cleanly
...This game is brilliant, the latest part of the all time classic Unreal series.
First Impressions:
When you first install this game, you can tell it is the latest in the series. It has that gloss to it, nice graphics, better effects, different weapons... and a longer install time. But even though it's the latest in the series, it didn't take me all that long to start playing Unreal Tournament - the original
Graphics:
The graphics are the best point to this game. Now 3D, they bare some resemblence to games sch as Age of Mythology and Command and Conquer Generals. The problem is that with these new graphics, you get new specs and a slower run time.
If you play on a good computer, these graphics are the best thing that you'll get in a long time. The effects are brilliant -things like rocket launchers are works of art...

Unreal Battle...ups...Tournament :D
Review of Unreal Tournament III (PC) by
tartupets
Advantages: The legacy of UT, graphics
Disadvantages: illogical storyline
...First of all, I have to say, that I own the PC version.
But nether the less, UT3 is carrying the proud name of Unreal Tournament.
UT3 is built on the UnrealEngine. This is recognized as the best engine ever. It delivers high quality graphics at low requirements.
So, UT3 has the following requirements:
Minimum System Requirements
Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor
512 Mbytes of System RAM
NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card (128 MB)
8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
Recommended System Requirements
2.4+ GHZ Dual Core Processor
1 GBytes of System RAM
NVIDIA 7800GTX+ or ATI x1300+ Video Card(256 MB)
8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space
But now, of the game.
UT3 has the graphics of unbelievable size. Textures are finished to extreme and combined with proper lighting, it can look like real...

Unreal Tournament IS Unreal!
Review of Unreal Tournament (PC) by
mattmajor
Advantages: Great Graphics and Gameplay
Disadvantages: Incredibly Long Startup Times
...Unreal Tournament (UT) is the first of a new generation of shooters to appear. Quake III: Arena just came out over the weekend and Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms. But those two games have a lot of catching up to do ...
UT is the underdog, probably because of the poor multiplayer performance in Unreal. But Unreal had an incredible graphics engine, far superior to Half-Life's (TF2 is based on this) or Quake II. And UT's engine is basically a revved up Unreal engine.
It shows. Detailed character models, great lighting effects and lush textures show the incredible horsepower in the UT engine. But that's not all ... the most important question is, how is the gameplay?
There is a single-player tournament that you basically use to train. You play against Bots which are the most intelligent I've seen. They'll hide, fire wildly...

Some more Unreality
Review of Unreal Tournament 2003 (PC) by
existtoinspire
Advantages: graphics, music, other effects, multiplayer
Disadvantages: not enough options, some great features of the original are missing, not too realistic
...Unreal Tournament was one of the most intense, electrifying games in the history, and it was nothing less than a wonder among the First Person Shooters. But the sequel to the game went the other way, as it could offer nothing more than some better graphics. We have the next offerings in Unreal Tournament 2004 and 2007 which is to be released soon, but Unreal Tournament still stands as a void between two outstanding titles. Well, it does look better, but it doesn't give a good feeling, nowhere close to the original and its sequel. Epic games and Digital Extremes could have just avoided this title and gone for Unreal Tournament 2004, but this title has managed to stay due to the fame of its predecessor.

Processor: Pentium III or AMD Athlon 733MHz processor

The ultimate tournament
Review of Unreal Tournament 2004 by
existtoinspire
Advantages: multiplayer, quick action, variety
Disadvantages: UT 2007 is on its way, can get repetitive
...Being a fan of the Unreal Tournament for more than 6 years, I considered it as my responsibility not to miss anything which comes in the Unreal series. It is the same reason that lead me to upgrading my PC and later into Unreal Tournament 2004 years ago. But I completed the game in a week and uninstalled it, but only to realize that I got rid of it too early. Any game of the Unreal series won't be able to go off a gamer's mind too easily, and UT 2004 is just another example of that. What this game has proved is that the Tournament will live forever, and UT 2003 was nothing more than a sample of what was to come. UT 2004 makes its predecessor look like a demo version, as both games look somewhat similiar in graphics.
REQUIREMENTS
Pentium III or AMD Athlon 1.0 GHz processor
128MB RAM
5.5GB HDD space
8X CD-ROM or DVD...

Quake III or Unreal
Review of Quake III: Arena (PC) by
Garza007
Advantages: Good graphics
Disadvantages: Lacks something...
...Well, both Quake III and Unreal Tounrament are magnificent games, but personally I prefer Unreal, because the gameplay is far more better... why is it better? well, you may think that Quake II and Unreal are the same kind of games, and they are but Unreal just seems to have that extra thing, that extra UMPH! over Quake III...
Quake III has stunning graphics and sound, but it still lacks something, that something that Unreal has... I can't explain it properly...
But I do have to say that Unreal is better all round than Quake III... even though Unreal requires a good video card, it's still very good...
So if you're stuck in a situation between Quake III and
Unreal Tournament, then I say choose Unreal Tournament... Go on you know you want to!!!...

Are you for real? this is an Unreal Tournament
Review of Unreal Tournament (PC) by
davidcraig_2004
Advantages: Fast engine, smooth gameplay
Disadvantages: sound effects
...Unreal Tournament published by Infogrames was released in 1999.
Unreal Tournament is a shoot 'em up game featuring multiple game modes such as capture the flag assault and deathmatch.
Game modes:
Capture the flag - both teams start with a flag at their base. The object is to take the enemy flag to your base while protecting your own flag.
Assault - each map has a few set objectives, there is an attacking team and a defending team, to win you first have to assault the base then you have to defend, if you manage to do both you have won.
Deathmatch - this is a free for all mode in which the first player to score a certain amount of frags wins.
Team Deathmatch - the same as deathmatch only all frags add to your team score apposed to an individual score.
