UPDATES are short broadcasts offering a quick review of the major news items from around the day. These might be addressed during the major news slots of the day (12.00 and 17.00) or week - some indication is given during the update. The broadcasts are often less than 5 minutes. FORMAT Often a toolbar appears at the base of the screen - these offer written text on a scroll bar giving some indication of the items being outlined above with statistics. And some items not being mentioned verbally (normally those for review on the major news broadcasts later). The GI Diet: Demystified

Advantages: Clearly explained diet that's certainly not a fad
Disadvantages: Not for everyone, some annoying comments

...contains more calories, but not a huge amount and it's the most nutritious and flavoursome part of the egg. If you're eating one or two eggs at a time, the extra calories aren't going to make a huge amount of difference to your weight loss. It also seems wasteful to discard the yolk. THE BOOK ITSELF I am reviewing an updated edition of The GI Diet that was first published in Britain in 2004 and written 2 years after the first edition. It obviously makes more sense to buy or borrow this updated version, as the food charts have been updated and it includes recipes that weren't in the original. The tone is friendly and informal, making the reader feel at ease rather than confused by jargon. Everything is explained clearly and the charts are very clear and colour-coded, so you shouldn't have any problems understanding it. Gallop explains...

Advantages: Low purchase price, versatility, good results
Disadvantages: It's noisy, not really for the serious photographer

...a device to digitalise slide photographs and negatives and I was curious about the results these devices delivered. I did some research and discovered the overall opinion was somewhat mixed, however the general consensus amongst people online was to try to get a decent scanner which could deal with photographs, slides and negatives. I appreciate much of the photography terms I use here will go over the head of younger members whose only experience of family photos is the digital camera, but in my lifetime I have seen lots of different formats in photography come and go, so it really was time to update all these formats into the modern jpg file! ...I've been absent from Ciao for such a long time.. more than a year now. And a lot has changed in my life, so I thought I'd give all my old friends on here a bit of an update. Well, there's that, and I also like talking about myself :p Last time I was around on Ciao, I was just sitting my GCSEs. I got them last year - 4 A's, 3 B's and 2 C's and got into my chosen college, which was nice... although I hate the place now! I take English Lit, English Language and Politics; having dropped Psychology for my second year. I get my AS results a week today. I'm planning on doing English Language at uni next year... University College of London or Kings College London if I get in, but if not, Nottingham, Lancaster, Manchester or Durham. It's all very scary but quite frankly, I can't wait to get out of this place... I've lived in dreary Wigan...

Team Fortress 2 (updated)

Advantages: good team play, fun graphics, constantly updated and improved
Disadvantages: hard!

...Since Team Fortress 2 has been updated alot lately, i only think its fair i update my review. TF2 is a first person shooter, online multiplayer fiasco. Its like Battlefield 2 took some drugs with Walt Disney and then got in a washing machine and set its self to rinse. The graphics, as you can see, are very cartoony, as was the case with TF classic (so im lead to believe). But dont let that put you off. They are awfully good graphics and its quite a pretty game. Its worth mentioning that like the battlefield series of games, (and others) TF2 has "classes". There's the scout, Pyro, heavy, demoman, soldier, medic, spy, engineer and sniper. Unlike other games though, the classes here are very very different. The difference between the Scout and Heavy for example are astronomical. The scout has only 150 health, a bat, a pistol and shotgun...

...when I had been taking Wellwoman for a couple of months. One of the first things was that my nails, which were growing a lot quicker than normal. I have only had one cold sore since and this cleared up a lot sooner than the previous ones. I have also stopped getting sore throats. On the whole I have been feeling a lot healthier and less tired and lethargic. I know you cannot rely on vitamins and supplements and it is important to eat a healthy diet and take regular exercise and I do try to look after myself. First Focus Foray - Final Update

Advantages: Nice drive, economical, practical.
Disadvantages: None really, unless you're a badge snob.

...Just a quick update as I have now owned the Focus six months, the extra information is at the end. I have only owned my Focus for about a month so you need to bear in mind this review is based on first impressions. As with my previous car review I will update it regularly when things go wrong, hopefully not! I bought my 1999 V plate Focus 1,8 Diesel for £4,950 which sounds very cheap, but it has done 70k miles which means it is a reasonable price. I did a lot of research on the internet before buying, the Ford Diesel unit which the Focus uses is well tried and tested being based on an old design, a bit harsh compared to modern versions but it is strong enough to easily last to 150k miles and beyond so I wasn't too concerned buying such a high mileage unit. It is important if buying a high miler to make sure you get service history...

Noise Cancelling? Yes Please! *UPDATED!*

Advantages: They really do cancel sound, amazing bass and clarity
Disadvantages: Sometimes they can hurt a bit.

...like without them now- actually, probably very noisy and infuriating to listen to music! If like me you need noise cancelling headphones, I would strongly reccomend this brand AND model. I'm happy with my purchase, and even though I paid more than others, I still think they are worth every penny. UPDATE: Okay, so that was then. Why the update I hear you ask? Well. The earphones were perfectly fine, doing their job as usual and with me sitting happily listening to my music without ambient noise. Untill on of the headphones broke.
