Review of Sitecom Fax / Modem

Old but still the best

Advantages: Good all round modem with fax capabilities
Disadvantages: Buttons are a bit small

...This Faxmodem is from the old school of 56k dial up through your phone line. This particular model I think is the best that 3com has to offer. It is very easy to setup. You do not even need the installation cd to install even under Windows 98. It will quite happily be used as a standard modem with no problems. However if you want the extra features then you can use the installation cd and get loads of extras. It will install all the drivers you need for the 56k U.S. Robotics Faxmodem. In this it will install the software you require to use your modem as a fax machine. A good feature I think. The modem also has a volume control on the side as well as the software volume which is very handing. It is connected via the com port ans is incredibly simple to setup. Best Modem

Advantages: reliable

...What an excellent modem, it is reliable and practical. I recently acquired the 3COM US Robotics 56K Modem as a gift and it is quite some present. Being an external unit it is easy to transfer it between machines, my laptop or desktop, this has saved me the necessity of buying 2 modems. The software with it is adequate to run your computer as a fax machine but is a little limited. Connection speeds vary from service provider to service provider but the 3Com seems compatible with all ISP's I have tried, previous modems have disconnected spontaniously from some ISP's, this modem however seems able to cope well with drop out or poor line gain. Neat and compact in appearance this modem requires an external power source so you'll need an available 13am socket. A good all round modem, not too costly....

Riveting Robots?

Advantages: Fun film with a strong voice cast and good animation
Disadvantages: In the face of stronge competition, it doesn't quite match up

I have to admit in the sea of animated films offered by the likes of Pixar and Dreamworks in the last five years I had practically forgotten seeing the film when I met my husband and he happened to have the dvd in his collection. In the time we've been together I've watched the film at least 3 times and it never fails to raise at least a little giggle. An excellent modem

...My ZOOM 56K V90 Dual Modem has been the best modem I have ever had. When I purchased a new machine it came with its own PCI modem, however this soon came out and was replace with my trusty zoom when I started getting cut off from my ISP. I regularly axchieve speeds of up to 52K and with a usual connection at 49,333 bps. The modem is fitted internally and has been in service now for almost 2 years without any sign of breakdown. Trusty, reliable and fast are the best way I can describe it. With a Flash Circuit I can even upgrade it should the need arise. A great modem at a very reasonable price. Customer support is excellent too....

Aztech's classy modem

Advantages: Works perfectly as a fax, dialup and along side broadband
Disadvantages: Features you can't use or find

...technology and it works well as a fax. I've never had any problem with it whenever I've used it. It hardly ever cuts out and gives you uninterrupted internet/fax time as long as you have the program to Fax and use the Internet. The maximum transfer rate out of this modem for the Internet is 56 Kbps and the maximum for the fax is 14.4kps. An interesting feature is the modem can tell you when you have a phone call so you can configure the PC to alert you that you have a phone call and it will on your specification, either disconnect the modem or not. Although, I know about this feature I've never figured out how to use it yet and now I have NTL Cable modem and don't use this modem to connect to the Internet anymore through broadband nor dialup, I don't think I will find out. The modem cannot be used in DOS modem which is a shame for old computer...

Robot Boy
