...USA there many advantages at being Usa like you can get different weapons,tanks,aircrafts etc to the other races for instants the Paladin very good tank and especially good in groups of them when attacking the enemy base with force. There are also other vehicles like the Humvee,Crusader, Tomahawk and the Ambulance. There are also Aircrafts for the usa for example the Raptor which in some cases can be very effective against other air units or ground units like tanks but they are not the best when attacking an enemy base because if the enemy is for instants GLA they have the best air defence and will probabaly destroy your aircrafts and you will have to buy new ones to replace them. USA use Chinooks to fly the supplies over in batches of $600, CHINA uses supply trucks to deliver it in batches of $300, and the GLA use workers to hand carry boxes of it in $75 lots. In addition to this though there is also 3 unique, secondary ways to get cash in the later game. the USA can build supply drops that deliver $2500 every 2 minutes, CHINA get hackers which hack into the internet and drain funds at roughly $5 every few seconds, and the GLA get Black markets which generate money through illegal deals at around $20 every 10 seconds. There are 3 sides to choose from in Generals, CHINA,USA, and GLA. China rely on numbers, they can mass produce infantry and make lots of fairly cheap, effective tanks quickly. ...Having purchased this book at the oxfam bookshop 10 years after its publishing date it seems strange to be writing a review about it. When I bought the book I anticipated a nerve - racking experience around the USA. I was expected near death experiences, exhaustion, lack of sleep, and generally the tales of someone who had been on a two month adventure. Unfortunatelly, the Adventures of Josie Dew appeared more tame than expected. I feel it must be one of those books where you are always thinking "if she had done this...". The book itself is written well, with clear descriptions, and vivid explanations, although it can waffle on for a bit. ...explosions now seem deeper and bigger and the sound is much improved to promote realism, the games graphics are now also slightly better optimized to support the lower end machines, but as with Generals it is still a system hog and requires a very hefty pc to run it smoothly. UNIT ADDITIONS AND NEW FEATURES: The new units are interesting and fun and make excellent additions to the armies, the most noticable of these are the chinese 'Helix' helicopters, a huge chopper basicly like a flying tank. ...Anyone who has read my Opinion on Las Vegas will undoubtedly already be aware of my fascination with America. My Wife and I have visited the country about 15 times over our 12 ½ years of marriage. Our first trip was with Premier Holidays (honeymoon) costing over £1,500 each for two weeks. I fully appreciate that this is quite a considerable sum of money and over the years we have learnt of ways to make the trip more cost effective. Last June we visited the Western USA for 3 weeks with our Son and it cost us under £3,000 (an extra week , an extra person and 12 years later) , the same cost as when we went on Honeymoon in 1998. What I would like to do in this Opinion is share some of the "trick of the trade" that we have used and if any of you are able to save money on a trip to America then this has clearly been worthwhile... .... Differences are already apparent here. There is now the option to play a training game to teach you the C+C basics and you only have the choice to use 3 countries but previously there was a great list of countries you could pick for your army or to battle against. The only countries available to use are the USA, China and the GLA. The GLA is the Global Liberation Army and is a loose federation of freedom fighters and terrorists. They have established strongholds in the republics of central Asia. I have heard many people say they will not play the game as there is too much action going off and it is too difficult keeping on top of the game, sending units off to battle, building new units and constructing new buildings all in one go. Upon starting the game, you'll be welcomed with a progress bar, which will slo....ww....lll...yyy move across the screen (so go grab something to eat while you're waiting if you're impatient). Goodies, and, well Goodies and Baddies Like Emporer: Battle For Dune, Generals gives you the choice of playing three sides. China - Kickass machinery at your disposal. GLA - Use your normal, every day to day weapons that a group of terrorists would need. USA - Better advanced features than China IMHO, although units are somewhat weaker. We aint got no stinkin' FMV?! After the Bog standard EA Logo, usually C&C players would be able to feast upon some sexy FMV sequences. ...If you thought Red Alert 2 was good, then I recomend you play this excellent game. Since playing the original Red Alert on Playstation, I have been a Command and Conquer fan. It really took hold when I eventually got around to owning Red Alert 2 on PC. Generals is in a sense an updated version of the Red Alert series (unlike tiberian series of games, too futuristic for me!). The graphics are better, the gameplay is better and yet it has not lost the Command and Conquer feel. It has retained some of the better qualities of Red Alert 2 such as the ranking/ veteran system, coupling this with the much improved graphics, new units and updated story ( it has moved away from Russia vs USA cold war type) combines for hours of fun. ...It may suprise some people, but America have actually got a pretty good record in World Cup. The USA were involved in some of the very first World Cups in the 1930s, some twenty years before England or any other home nation did so themselves. They cannot kid themselves that they invented the game though, and the truth now is they are really not very good. A spectacularly bad performance in France ’98 where they lost all their games and worse still losing to Iran is hopefully for them not on the cards again. I would not bet against it though. Some bright person decided that it would be a good idea to host the 1994 World Cup, a festival for the very best teams in the world in America. It would be a kick start to give the game a new popularity. Sadly it never happened, they would rather play some stupid rounders that they copied... Read review
