...I have bought this PCI card a week ago. Reason: I have got a MSI K7T266Pro2 motherboard that only offer USB1.1 ports (1.5Mbytes/s maximum transfer rate). Since I have got devices that uses USB2.0 and without breaking my piggy bank to upgrade my computer, the most economical way is to install a PCI card that offers USB2.0 connections (up to 480Mbits/s or 60Mbytes/s, 40X faster than USB1.1) for 1 internal port and 4 external ports. Before you buy a USB2.0 PCI card, make sure that your motherboard got version 2.2 PCI slots which are USB2.0 compatible. If your motherboard hasn't got version 2.2 PCI slots or higher, don't bother. You need a motherboard upgrade. Also, your operating system needs to be windows 2000 service pack 4 or windows XP which provides appropriate drivers to support USB2.0. Advantages: Plug and Play Connectivity and Easy To Use

...STABILITY Extremely stable. Just plug your USB device into it and it works every time I’ve never had a problem with it. The only problem I could foresee would be if you were running Windows 95 or Windows 98 First Edition because these didn’t support USB. There are patches that you can download to get round this but I’m told that they are unstable although I’ve not used them myself so I can’t be sure on that. SPEED This is a USB 1.0 card which has a data transfer rate of 12mb a second which is far faster that serial which I believe is around the 4mb (although that may be wrong). However it is far slower than the new USB 2.0 which runs at just over the 450mb a second and that is even faster than Firewire (aka IEEE 1394) which runs at about 412mb a second. STABILITY As with the other Trust products I’ve used this is again perfectly stable and never causes me any problems or conflicts. SPEED Running at USB 2.0 speed it’s darn fast. At around 480mb a second even firewire isn’t going to touch it (that is only about 412mb a second). But it will also run at the slower 12mb a second should you have a USB 1.0 product as it is fully backwards compatible. EASE OF INSTALLATION Slightly more to do here than with the other front plate as in addition to fitting the front plate you also have to fit the PCI card. Now once you’ve fitted one in the past it’s pretty straight forward. ...The JetWay DTV DVB-T PCI card is a Digital TV Tuner card for desktop computers. This means once you have installed it and its accompanying software, you can watch Digital Terrestrial (i.e. Freeview) TV on your computer. A USB version is also available but the one I have is the PCI version, which is installed inside a computer. I bought it for £54 including delivery off eBay but later found it at Ebuyer for just over £40. INSTALLING Installing it was pretty easy. I just turned off my computer, pulled out the power for safe measure, removed the back plate at an available PCI slot position, slotted the card in and then screw it down. That was the hardware installation done with. The rest was just to plug the power back in, fire up the computer and lastly install the drivers and software for the JetWay card from the CD provided... ...If your kids are of a certain age (teenagers) and are fighting to use the family pc, this won't help you! However, if they are arguing over peripheral space, (bits where you connect digital cameras etc to the pc), this will help. Our pc simply ran out of spare usb 2 ports. We had, amongst other things, 2 digital cameras. Unfortunately, many peripheral devices have usb cables where the connections to the peripheral device are different. Given that usb ports are often at the back of the pc, disconnecting unused cables and replacing them with the cable for the device you want to use often involves crawling around and frustration. Much better then to leave cables plugged in as far as possible, but with so many usb devices these days, it's easy to run out of ports. This card gives 2 usb 2 ports and is really easy to install. ...we have a relatively old system now even though its only 18 months old and bought a web cam the only problem was we needed a usb port which our system had not got so were advised to buy this pci to usb controller card which gives your system 2 usb port to use. Its very easy to fit just slots into the pci slot and away you go once you have found the driver leaving you to be able to plug your web cam or any other item which has a usb port rather than a pci slot. It cost around £15 which is a lot cheaper than having to buy a new board and alot easier so would recommend this card to any one who does not have a usb on their system.... Read review

Disadvantages: u have to make sure u have the right pin combinations

...are going to trasnfer any video to a computer its firewire all the way, it trasnfers at 480mbs which is great quality, as oppose to usb.1.0 that is 11mbs, the quality you will get , both sound and video, is amazing in comparison. the only trouble you may have is matching the pin sizes to you firewire card and you dv camera. the standard dv size is 4 pin to 6 pin, but on a laptop, the firewire cable you are likely to need is 4 pin to 4 pin, as the laptop has a 4 pin firewire socket in it. it is always best to check which ports you need , otherwise you will be stuck with a none fitting cable. so overal firewire is a great product, this cable was fast and relible and i would very much reccomend it at such a low price. : ) danny... ...Belkin - a name you can trust for quality hardware. That is enough justification for me, having struggled for ages (and failed miserably) to get the USB ports on my motherboard to work reliably (VIA Chipset - yuk!). So, I head straight for the shops to find a plug-and-play USB card so that I can add some working ports to my PC, and connect up my new digital camera without messing about with serial communications errors. Belkin seemed to have the answer, this four port USB card that plugs into one of my motherboard's spare PCI slots. As a bonus, it also claims to support the new USB 2.0 standard. Not that I need version 2.0 just yet, but it always pays to be ahead of the game if you can afford it. So the box arrives, and I eagerly unpack it - only to find that Belkin have pulled a rather mean trick. They haven't written... Read review

Advantages: Good value and flexible mixer, works well with PC. Cubase is a nice bonus.
Disadvantages: Knobs not sliders, no MP3 encoder with Cubase but these are minor details

.... This meant there was no way to record a band together live or even just drums on their own which require at least 3 or 4 separate mics. It's important that each instrument and vocal is recorded separately so that you can balance their relative volume levels after recording. FIREWIRE RULES OK! Having looked around the best solution for being able to record several tracks at the same time directly to the PC looked like the Alesis Firewire range. Firewire (or IEEE 1394 to give it it's technical name) is another way of connecting devices to a PC similar to USB but offering better data transfer performance. Most modern PCs now come with a firewire connection as standard but, if you have an older PC that doesn't, you can always get a firewire PCI expansion card for under £10. ...I bought this USB network adaptor for my son when he still had his Windows 98 machine as the PCI card that I reviewed previously was too advanced for his hardware. This USB adapter was bought to connect to my Belkin wireless router meaning that I now had a wireless network consisting only of Belkin hardware. --Whats in the box-- On opening the box, there were no real surprises.
